Anxiety over PET scan results that i don't have yet!
How do we survive these few days before getting to see the oncologist and get the report? I haven't had a PEt/CT scan since March. it showed minimal growth on a peritineal spot. But i started Folfiri again and added Erbitux in June(after my KRAS approved) Anyway, why do i worry so. Why can't we get over this. Some people…

side effects from radiation
What have others been told by their Doctors that did their radiation after they were done with treatment? My Dr said she saw no evidence of any vaginal side effects.I have not been able to have relations. I was told to use a dialator. I went to a gynecologist and he said I had vaginal shortening. I feel that they downplay…

VA Surgeon says nothing to offer
I had a consultation with the Phoenix VA surgery department, the same team that left me with a wound infection on my first surgery and were unable to get clear margins on my sole liver lesion in July. This stellar group says the PET shows some inflamed lymph nodes and regrowth at the spot where we incompletely excised that…

I have surgery on Oct. 16
Hi Everyone, I have surgery on my cervical spine on Oct. 16. The doctor is repairing and cleaning bone spurs around 4 and 5 and fusing 5, 6 and 7. I have been cancer free for 11 years. This they believe all due to the osteoporosis and bone degineration in my body from Chemo. No real anything to use as fact except I never…

Coughing Up Blood
I'm so scared and I'm just so frustrated. This morning after brushing my teeth I coughed and spit out blood. I rinsed my mouth out and called my husband and coughed again and spit and there was blood again mixed with the spit. It wasn't a lot but enough to make me concerned. I called the oncologist and because I was on my…

I'm here again...new problems
Hi All. Sorry I haven't been around much lately. I have been trying to rebuild my business and get life back on track. For those who don't know me, I was DX'd 10/08, Stage 3 rectal cancer. The tumor was less than 2cm inside the anus. 6 weeks of chemo/radiation, tumor completely responded. Had surgery Feb 4, 09, removed…

Port is out.
They removed my port on Friday and I was a little nervous because they told me it would be done with just a local anesthetic. I must report that it was very easy. No pain, only some tugging when the dr pulled on it, but it was not bad at all. I am so glad to have it gone. The only thing left now is a colonoscopy in…

thrush
Has anyone had any problems with thrush from the chemo? When I went for blood work in between chemo weeks I told DOc I had a horrible taste in my mouth and was unable to even drink water. He looked in my mouth and saw a tiny spot of thrush (Just the begining), he gave me script for magic mouthwash and it really helped, but…

Big sigh of relief!
Whew! Thanks for all the good words and prayers! My doctor called, and it's okay. I have a nodule, but it's just nothing. People have them. I don't think oncologists know the effect they have on us. I hear his voice on the phone, and my blood pressure immediately goes to stroke level. Thank you for the support, everyone.…

Now I'm nervous
Some of y'all may remember I had to go to the ER in June for the same old pain I've had since my surgery. While I was there they did a ct scan that showed what looked like a liver lesion. A subsequent MRI didn't seem to show it. I had gotten to where I was feeling okay about that, until I had a gastroenterology appointment…

my scan results
Hi Everybody, Well, I ended up waiting over the weekend for my scan results, but I really wasn't fretting or worrying too much about it. I had a Dr. appt this morning and got and discussed the results then. "Good" and "stable" are the results. On my last PET in late July, I had old and new nodules lighting up in my lungs.…

This will probably be the only time I am looking forward to my one year colonoscopy. I having bowel control problems and tired of "crapping my pants"! The surgeon who is doing the colonoscopy thinks that the radiation my have shrunk the surgical opening and things are getting backed up. I had state 3 rectal cancer, they…

Erbitux
Has anyone had any experience with Erbitux in a situation of Stage IV colon cancer that metastasized to the lungs? My mom is 66 years old and has had several surgeries on her colon and lungs to remove the tumors. They were removed and she was okay for a few months while she was on a clinical trial. We recently did a scan…

Blood Clots
Hi All, Last week a CT scan showed that my wife (diagnosed Stage IV colon cancer in August) had multiple blood clots in both lungs. She's now injecting herself twice daily with Lovenox. Two questions: Does anyone have experience with Lovenox and has it been effective? Also, I'm concerned that our teams of docs has not yet…

Mom's CT Scan Results - Switching from FOLFOX to FOLFIRI
Mom just had her first CT scan following dx, after 4 treatments with FOLFOX. It looks as if her 3 lesions on her liver have stayed the same size, and there may possibly be a tiny new lesion as well. They are switching her to FOLFIRI starting tomorrow. Prob won't do Avastin with it because she had some heart issues with…

Big Hit
I had a hugely disappointing phone call today. It was from NIH. The clinical trial I had planned to start this week denied me. Not only did they deny me, she pretty much said I would never be eligible for any trial conducted at NIH or anywhere because I have two primary cancers. Even though I had previously discussed this…

Experience with Xelira and extreme cramps?
My partner just did his second dose of Xelira (Xeloda, Irinotecan & Avastin) on Friday and starting Saturday afternoon began having severe abdominal cramps which are really bad today. He says he's never felt worse in his life. He called the on-call oncologist, who said he had never heard of anything like this. I'm just…

Newbie - I have a question about middle of chemo treatment
Hello everyone! I'm Lynne from New Orleans and was diagnosed with Stage III colon cancer in June of this year. I had colon resection and a radical hysterectomy on June 10. I had the hysterectomy because the tumor was attached to my uterus and that was the only way to get the mass out. I had 2 out of 19 nodes positive; no…
