What is palliative care
One of my home care insurance nurses said I should ask the dr. to get palliative care. What is that & what does it do that your doctor doesn't do. Thanks.

Cancer cells in urine
So my wife has been having blood in her urine. They tested and found found a UTI. After 2 rounds of antibiotics she was still having problems so they tested for it again and it came back negative for a UTI but positive for ovarian cancer cells. Prior to these findings her Dr had already decided she should see a urologist…

What's in your personal chemo kits?
I know this is sort of a silly question compared to most I've seen on here, but I just have to ask it. (Plus, silly things keep me from focusing on the depressing ones.) You see, I--like many others--have my own little chemo bag I bring to my treatments. I bring quite a bit of stuff with me. But I feel like there is…

In need of advice
First, I would like to thank you all for sharing your stories and experiences. I have been reading and rereading these discussion boards looking for hope... and you all have given me so much already. Need some "teal" input
Sorry I haven't been on the board much but we've been enjoying life! This is what I need some input on---finished my second chemo end of Nov and this recent checkup had my CA125 going from 7 to 24.5 in a 3 month period. Earlier chemo in 09 got me 2 yrs before I went from 7 to 30. Dr. said not to worry. Have to have a…

sulforaphane/broccoli extract
This supplement appears to be beneficial to all cancer patients, and does not appear to have any contraindications. I learned about this supplement because, through genetic testing two years ago, we discovered I do not have the GSTM1 gene, which would allow my body to make glutathione, a powerful antioxidant. I had been…

Is this a common symptom of ovarian cancer?
I am 58, so well past menopause, and have been feeling what I used to feel when I had mid-cycle pain before I stopped having periods 6 years ago. On my left side. Not pain really, but tenderness. It started in January or early February and now is at the point I feel it daily, 2 to 4 times, a minute or two each. I had an…

Newspaper Article about Ambien
Hi everyone, I brought an article into my dr. about the Ambien and read some of the postings causing cancer. He said he would change my Ambien if I wanted to but the other sleeping aids have many, many side effects and are like a tranquilizer. Since I don't want that I'm going to stay on the Ambien. I also spoke with my…

Tethys - Vitamin D
Sorry for the shoutout, but I was wondering if you had the chance to speak with your naturopath about Vitamin D? Remember the thread from about a week ago? I stopped taking my Vitamin D daily because I read it had estrogenic effects and was a hormone (I thought we shouldn't take hormones with Ov/Ca). If you have any…

Has anyone experienced hands shaking while on chemotherapy? Mine just started to shake the last couple of days and don't know if it was the result of being on Hexalen. Thanks.

Can one live with cancer without treatment?
I was diagnosed 3.5 ys ago, went through debulking and several rounds of chemo. Tolerated well the first two but caved in at Doxil and cut it short. Then had one year of feeling fine, but they found some small methastising and put me on Tamoxifen. This was so bad - not just nausea but everything else in the catalogue - my…

For those of you taking Ambien for sleep issues, please be aware that Ambien increases Interluken 8, which stimulates cancer growth. Maybe consider finding another option. :)

Time to kick back and concentrate on beating this beast to the ground. I am sad and scared. Thank God for family and friends and this board. I now realize I will probably be on chemo…

Caner is back
Had my CT yesterday which showed 2-3 small nodules. Three months ago my CT was clear and my ca125 was in the teens. The ca125 is now 109. Will start Doxil on Tuesday. This brings to an end my vaccine trial that I was so hopeful would be a success. I am also planning to end my nursing career. I think it is time to retire.…

What items make you feel better?
Hi, I'm a cancer survivor who is working to help other patients/survivors. Thinking about your treatments and side effects, physically, mentally, etc. What type of items could someone give you to help make you more comfortable. Example: I had dry mouth and nausea - fruit flavored hard candy helped. Reading helped me pass…
