My Awareness Effort
I'm trying to do my part in awareness. I submitted a story about my relationship with my horse and how he helped me regain my health after treatment to a horse magazine I subscribe to. It includes some information about the disease and, if they include it, a web address to look up the symptoms. Well, they accepted my…

He's no longer doing chemo and gave me a new doctor who said we'll proably let it ride. Oh yes, regular dr. found tumor during exam. Should I be concerned? Is…

Now that chemo is over, what can I expect?
I took my last treatment Tuesday. I'm achy and fatigued today. I will remain on Avaistan for two years. What can I expect now? How long will it take for my body to recover from the chemo? While my last CA-125 was down to 14, I am still scared. I suppose that's normal. I have noticed that when I don't feel as well…

When I looked in the mirror I saw this weird bumpy rash where I was scratching. I decided not to worry about it, and went to bed, hoping that it would go away. This morning, the but…

Ovarian cancer and brain metastases
The mechanisms by which primary tumors produce brain metastases is thought to be hematogenous (blood) spread from primary or secondary sites in the lung. Since the brain has no lymphatic system, all tumors metastasizing to the brain do so by spreading through the bloodstream. Arterial blood passes through the lungs before…

Stuff I don't need to hear
I got a call from my sister the other day. The first thing she wanted to tell me was about someone who healed their cancer with their mind. The second thing she wanted to say was "I think you are obsessed with your cancer--that's all you ever think about." I had to end the phone call right there--I don't need to hear that…

I'm so incredibly grateful.
I had my first CA 125 test early last week, the first since my last chemo in July. I had been at 6 since my debulking surgery on May 5.
