I need information please
Hi, my sister-in-law (47 yrs old) had a hystorectomy today for what her doctor/oncologist thought was uterus cancer. We were also told by the doctor that my sister-in-law (Linda) had a large fibrosis tumor (not cancerous)on the uterus. Well, when she opened Linda up to do the hystorectomy she discovered it was not a…

Update and thanks for the prayers
First of all, thanks for all the prayers......I really appreciate it. Results: My mother's liver tumor grew an inch over the past 2 months. Neither the PARPS or Doxil worked for her. They are pulling her from the trial and placing her on Taxol. I don't know if the doctor was just being nice but we asked if this was the end…

hair question
I have gotten my hair back and don't seem to losing it on Carbo/Doxil, but it needs help. I usually color it and have a body perm. I thought I read this was a no-no(???) If so, does it affect the chemo outcome or the hair? I sure have a case of the uglies right about now! Ginny

Linda, platelets, Gatorade and Sugar
My one concern with the Gatorade is that it has a lot of sugar, and I've read that cancer likes sugar. I didn't get my platelet number this morning, but I was concerned when I saw a small patch of bruising on my arm. One of the signs we look for with son is patches of petechia (sp?). These are the tiny freckle size red…

Chemo postponed to next week due to low platelets
Unfortunately, my platelets were too low to have my 5th out of 6 chemos today. I am very familiar with the platelet issue as my son has a rare genetic syndrome that includes thrombocytopenia/low blood platelets. I belong to an online support group for individuals and family of persons with Thrombocytopenia Absent Radius…

Husbands
Are there any other husbands on these discussion boards? It seems that the only people who are related/caregivers are women, either mothers, daughters, sisters or friends. It would be nice to hear from other men whose wives have this horrible disease. Chad

coping with chronic cancer article
While I believe the ladies on this website already know much of what is in this article, there has been a lot of discussion on how we cope and what does chronic cancer mean. I found this article very helpful and even passed it on to friends and family members to help them understand. Womens Health Magazine was kind enough…

Booked to give blood!
Lol! I am really excited! I have just booked in to give my first pint of blood! Before mum was diagnosed I hadn't even considered it, but after going into the chemo lounge and seeing people having blood transfusions , it has inspired me to do it. I know it may not be used for someone on chemo, but I feel I am helping in a…

Is there no hope for remission for me?

I had the omentum removed, a colostomy, and as much cancer as possible removed before my blood pressure dropped and I was losing a lot…

I fear My mom is nearing the end
In May of 2010, my mom was diagnosed with stage iv ovarian cancer. My family didn't believe it. She was the healthiest person I knew. After many rounds of chemo, it seemed like the cancer was going away. Then in November, she had surgery to reverse her colostomy bag, thats when we were told there was a lot more cancer then…

Chemo brain...
We all know that chemotherapy targets and kills/cripples fast-growing cells..hair, nails, Cancer, and brain cells. But I get the feeling sometimes that people - my family members included - just don't quite get it. I really do not remember stuff. It's not a cop-out...honest. And maybe it's early (or not so early...LOL)…

Question for Pusteblume
Did I read your post correctly? You are receiving IP chemo for a recurrence of ovarian cancer? If that is the case, it is a most unusual protocol. What first-line treatment did you receive? Carlene
