Newbie needs translation please.
Hi, everyone. I have just registered here and started by reading some discussion boards, but a lot of the time I have no idea what people are saying. Is there a place on this site or another website where I can find out what all these abbreviations and acronyms mean? I feel so ignorant compared to you all. I was diagnosed…

Pink lady hit squad?
Nothing you all can really help me with. I just need to share with those who can understand. I've returned to work part time only because I'm still doing radiation. The girl who's been covering my job while I've been off has been making little comments here and there. Comments about knowing others with bc who thought they…

Longterm Follow up for DCIS with BMX and No Reconstruction?
I had a BMX w/ no reconstruction for DCIS on 1.11.11. I had asked my surgeon last summer what kind of follow up I will have. She said my family dr. should show me how to do self chest exams now (I realize now SHE should have shown me. Don't know why she didn't and why I didn't think of it then). So, that's it. I realize…

My Chemo buddy lost ...
A very dear friend lost his battle to the beast this past week. I worked with Sandra, his wife and when I found out I had breast cancer. She was the first to reach out to me with a beautiful pink angel - and lots of love and hope. When I was away from work having my surgery, her husband, Nathan found out he had lymphoma -…

From "Winnie the Pooh" -not OT
"You are smarter than you think, stronger than you seem and braver than you believe." You rowdy pinks on that bus really helped me through it. My appointment with the onc. yesterday to start the new treatments went very well. First, I had the Faslodex injections (one in each butt cheek). Maybe it was because they warmed…

Inflammatory Breast Cancer
Today I found your site. I haven't been to a doctor yet to confirm my suspicions, I have an appointment on Friday, February 24, 2012. Unfortunately I don't have insurance so I guess I'm just going to see if my suspicion is correct. Don't know what to do if it is. Last November I fell on top of a buggy I was pushing, and I…

Help Needed...14 year survivor with possible bone mets
Hi all...I'm in shock. Dx'd with Stage IIB cancer in 1997 and have been cancer free ever since. Just in the last few months, started having some pain in my upper back. Nothing horrible, just sort of "awareness". Had x-rays and it showed bone erosion, lesions consistent with mets. WHAT???? I have an appointment with…

3 Word Story - "Game"
It's been a while since we did any games so thought I'd start one again as we have a lot of 'newbies' so they can see we do sometimes just have fun. This game is to tell a story 3 words at a time. It is amazing how stange some of the turns take. So I will start with 3 words - you add 3 words to the last post and so on and…

Starting new treatment today-call in for the pink bus
I am starting the Faslodex injections today as well as the Zometa infusions for my new bone mets. From a couple of people, I've heard that the Faslodex injections are quite painful--it is the consistency of syrup and they have to put it in real slow. Ouch--I hate pain. I'm not crazy about starting the Zometa (because of…

Counterfeit cancer drugs...
Huge article in today's Wall Street Journal on counterfeit cancer drugs...Avastin, Herceptin, Rituxan, Faslodex....with Faslodex being the one "most likely" to have been administered to patients.... It's not bad enough that we have cancer but now we are made to wonder if we are getting " the real thing!" I would encourage…

Time for an update!
Hi ladies! It has been a month since my surgery and things have not been fun lately. I guess I didn't realize how serious of a surgery this was, but I have been having a rough go. I am finally down to one crutch, but I am still unable to get dressed by myself, put my shoes on, etc. Pretty much anything that requires…

Surgery finally happenng - need some help!
Hi Everybody, I finished chemo January 3rd. Saw my surgeon, had a Pet Scan, Breast MRI, saw the plastic surgeon, had a chest wall MRI, and finally saw a thoracic surgeon. Tests were pretty good but they can't determine how deep the tumor is - hence the thoracic surgeon. Hopefully we won't need him. Surgery is set for March…
