My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in February... turns out she has had it for quite some time and was too afraid to say anything. She was so sick that I had to call a rescue to get her to the hospital. The cancer is not operable or curable. The doctors hope to control it, but she is not a very patient patient. She…

relationship ending
A while back I posted a pity party topic and was upset that my S.O. was so hurtful and uncaring. Well, now this journey we took together all these years is ending. And the weird part is that I am okay with it. Breast Cancer, for all of the things it took from me, has made me stronger. Unfortunately, it changed us. But, I…

I finished 6 rounds of chemo (cytoxan/taxotere) on April 23. Yippee!!! As I look back I can't believe I made it through the ups and downs but then I think God was there with me the whole time. I took him with me to every chemo and each day he got me out of bed to continue on with my life. I swore I wouldn't let chemo…

Ok, this HA HA is VERY FUNNY! You just have to laugh!
0 to 200 in 6 seconds Bob was in trouble. He forgot his wedding anniversary. His wife was really pissed. She told him "Tomorrow morning, I expect to find a gift in the driveway that goes from 0 to 200 in 6 seconds AND IT BETTER BE THERE !!" The next morning he got up early and left for work. When his wife woke up, she…

Venting and Praising
Wow what roller coaster. So much has happened in my life this past few months. Now that I am done with Chemo. HOORAY, I am feeling more anxious? CANCER IS SO FRUSTRATING. I know I am lucky. I had this tiny little bump, no bigger than the size of my little fingernail, for months. Did exactly what the dr said and had it…

Weight Watchers - Weigh-in 04/26/09
There are 2 people available to weigh you. I am never going to let one person weigh me for 2 reasons. First, I can't read his handwriting. Second, he doesn't know math. I am going to have to figure out how I can tactfully avoid him and go to the other person. Not so easy to accomplish. Last night I was late, that person…

Head scarves
Hi all, I'll be starting chemo tomorrow. I've been checking some websites for some cute head scarves. I was hoping to get some that are a little a long in the back and you can tie them to look like a "ponytail". I found some that are already sewn in that form but are fairly expensive. Anyone know where you can get some…

Insurance denial for a bi-lateral Mastectomy
My wife was diagnosed 4/22 with stage 1 ductal carcinoma T3 triple negative in one breast. When she talked to her insurance company (she works for a hospital and they are self insured) they said in her case a bi-lateral mastectomy was elective surgery for the one side and would not cover it. My question is, how many have…

Question About Stage IIA and Radiation Therapy
I had my surgery 01/29 and elected to do the bilateral mastectomy for left sided breast cancer (prophylactic on the right). They found two positive nodes. I am half way through a 6 course cycle of Cytoxan and Taxotere. I have two oncologists in the same office that I work with. One sounded pretty definite that I would have…

Question re: hip pain
I finished my chemo in October 2009 and radiation in December 2009. I have been experiencing hip pain (mostly my left hip but sometimes both) for the last few weeks. Finally ditched the wig!
Saturday I went out for the first time without the wig, just to Blockbusters Video. It wasn't so bad. I wore my pink ribbon cap. It felt good. The red hair I dyed might have to go. Maybe a light golden brown before I go to work without the wig. It is a little chilly on the back of the neck. And I have noticed my brows and…
