Yippee for Me, I'm finished with Rads!
So happy to announce that I am done, done, done with radiation! My Copper Tone tan on my right breast is a head start on summer! The rest of me will have to catch up to even out the tone, just kidding. I have extra ointment for my breast and I plan to make full use of it too. There was some shrinkage, not too bad. I don't…

Perspective
Perspective One day , the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live. They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family. On their return from their trip , the father asked his son , "How…

Is it just my man or is all men that stupid?
I hate to get on here and gripe but I have nowhere else. So here goes. Don't get me wrong I have a wonderful man in my life, we have lived together for almost a year now. I know he loves me dearly, has been right by my side thru the dx, surgery, and now I start chemo Tuesday. The only gripe I have is that he is always…

Glad to meet you, NED
Today was a great day. Path reports were clear. The doctor got it all. Next step is radiation in a month or so. Staples come out Wednesday and back to work on Thursday. I feel very little pain, just when I reach up for something. Doing laundry and mopping today. Nurse says I can do what I feel like without discomfort. I…

My Compliments to the Women on This Site - Were Your Ears Ringing?
I want you to know how much I complimented all the women on this great site. Wednesday, March 3, I went to my first Support Group breast cancer meeting at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Illinois. At this meeting I told them how great you are and how impressed I am with the women on this site. I told…

Honoring all of the great men in our lives
I just want to take a moment to say "thank you" to the wonderful men in our lives who are supporting us with humor, love, and their presence. My husband lovingly refers to me as "woodstock" - that funny little bird in the Peanuts cartoon with the couple of little wisps on his bald little head. He rubs my head every night…

scar tissue question "worry"
Hi, Does anyone have large masses of scar tissue from their mastectomy? I had surgery in August and have a large mass about the size of a tablespoon right where I had my tumor. It stresses me constantly. I've asked about it, but the doctor seems to think it's fine. I had my mammogram (on the other breast a few weeks…

Taxol for 12 weeks????
Has anybody been through 12 weekly sessions of Taxol? My Mom has gone through 10 and the Doctor advised her to take a week break before finishing her treatment. Her fingers are in a bad condition, they hurt, her nails are a mess, she is having trouble tying her own shoes. Did you have the same problems? What helped? I´m…

Anybody got an ideas of how I can get water into my body? I have tried drinking with a straw but even that is not easy. This is a week after chemo and my throat is raw. I have a hard time swallowing, that is when food or water enters my stomach, I have a great deal of pain that appears to be gas and acid related. The…

up and running again
I'm feeling much better yesterday and today. The anesthesia and morphine made me very nauseaous. Just like the Exorcist. Other than that the surgery went well. No pain in my breast, just a pulling underarm. No drains were put in. I see doc today to change the dressing and I'll see his artwork. I have energy to do things.…

Hello, I had my lumpectomy this morning. She took out seven nodes and all were negative. I'm back home and very happy. I know, still have to wait for pathology, clear margins, further studies on the nodes, but for right now, this is a little piece of happiness. Thanks for listening, Victoria

Another HaHa?
So, this old kitty goes to heaven. God says "You have been a good kitty! What can I do to make this heaven for you?" Kitty says, "I have always been a farm cat. Slept in the barn or on a hard floor. I would really love a soft cushion." No sooner said than done, the loveliest, softest cushion was provided. Kitty said "This…

BLONDE PAINT JOB A blonde, wanting to earn some money, decided to hire herself out as a handyman-type and started canvassing a wealthy neighborhood. Has anyone tanned after radiation treatments?
With the hopes of Spring soon to be here, I am looking forward to getting some sun again. I used to go to a tanning booth at the start of Spring, just to get that baseline tan. Then, I would just let the sun take over for my tan. My rads oncologist and oncologist both said NO sun, but, I wondered if anyone else had tanned…

Swimsuits - where to find a cute one?
I have to find a swimsuit by mid May to take G-daughter to WaTiki Water Park for her birthday - we do it every year. All the site's I've found that show post mastectomy suits have ones that I'm not about to wear - too OLD/matonly looking. I'm OLD yes - but I don't dress my age. So any ideas for younger looking swim suits.…

Food for thought
Well, ladies, hopefully it will be "beach" weather soon and we'll all be in our bathing suits. My Jazzercise exercise center puts out a newsletter monthly and this was in this month's. I thought it was very appropriate and maybe even worth a try. If you hang your swimsuit on the refrigerator door, The goodies inside Will…

Going for an MRI
I'm going for an MRI this morning and didn't realize how nervous I actually am. First, because I have/had very dense breasts at the time of my last one, the readings on my right breast (the good one) were not clear. HUH? Thanks for letting me know this now! I had inquired about a bi-lateral as I really didn't want to be…

DCIS
