Sentinel Node Dye Injection
Hello, Lumpectomy surgery is tomorrow, but the sentinel node injection and locating was this afternoon. I've been nervous about will it or won't it hurt and I just want to put my two cents' worth in: the injection didn't hurt at all. I'm glad since I'd walked to the hospital and had to haul myself back home:) Hope this…

Stupid Question - Rads - How tired is tired or describe fatigue?
I am somewhat confused or uncertain when I read posts and I read that you are tired or that you are experiencing fatigue. Can you describe exactly what you are experiencing? When I was in radiation treatment I was constantly asked if I was tired. If I allowed myself to sit, relax, and watch TV or the movies or a play, then…

Port & 1st Chemo Done
Got my port yesterday morning with no complications. Went to a great place from the surgeon right down to the nurses and receptionist. Nurse had to do a "blind" insert to get the IV in, but she got it in! (tried for the hand, but most of those veins are already "blown" and only good for blood draws). Was awake thru…

Dancing with NSF ??????
Hi again. So happy to report I had the mammo/ultrasound, and "No suspicious findings" reported. I was expecting No evidence of disease, so I could dance with NED. I am dancing anyway, even if NSF is hard to make into a name. Got the results right then and there from the doctor at the center, then got a packet with copies…

Having hysterectomy tomorrow
Hi team! My operation is tomorrow morning. I am pre-menopausal (38 yrs. old), ER+/PR+ so my doctors wanted me to have my ovaries removed before starting me on tamoxifen. My mom died of a uterine sarcoma so we are also removing the uterus. (Tamoxifen has been linked to increased cases of uterine cancer.) I am looking…

New hair - 3 months post chemo
Hi everyone! I just posted my latest photo showing my new hair. This was taken exactly 3 months after my last chemo treatment. I am so happy to have hair again. I tried hanging out with my girlfriends yesterday for lunch (in my friend's home) without my scarf but I felt completely naked. After about 10 minutes I put my…

ovaries removed because ER+ and PR+
I am considering having my ovaries removed because I was pre-metapausal when diagnosed with BC. I am ER+, PR+, and Her2+. Has anyone had this operation as a way to lower the estrogen and stop from having to take tamoxifen. Also, I was just curious how many people are Her2 positive like me.

Today is my last chemo treatment!!!
Doing the happy dance!! I had the cold and fever, called the nurse, and she said as long as I don't have a fever on chemo day, I'm clear to get chemo! So, I'm good to go. I was fever free all day yesterday, so I should be fine today. I know there's still a long road ahead of me ~ surgery and radiation, but at least I'm on…

Masectomy, reconstruction and radiation
Has anyone had their implants in and then had to have radiation, if so, how did the procedure go. I have 3 more treatments to go and then a double masectomy with immediate reconstruction. They are not sure if I will have to have radiation until my margins come back, but I am worried if I have to have radiation, this will…

Soy products and ER+ cells
Soy mimicks estrogen, so I've been doing some research on food. I've read that the "normal Asian diet" of tofu 2 or 3 times a week is OK for women with ER+ pathology but we should avoid soy powder because it's concentrated. H*ll's B*lls! I'm avoiding ALL soy, if I can. Why feed the little buggers? I'm taking expensive…

BC reoccurence
I had a mastectomy 2 years ago with no radiation or chemo for a stage 1 tumor with no lymph node involvement. I thought that was the end of the story. But yesterday I was diagnosed with invasive, aggressive reoccurence along the site of the mastectomy scar. I simply cannot understand how this can be! I am in a state of…

I MADE IT THROUGH CHEMO SORTA
Well I had my last chemo last Friday. My onc changed my chemo to Abraxane because of the side effects I was having with FEC 100 and again I had Big "D" and nausea with the Abraxane. Surgery and pathology done!
Thank you for all of the prayers and good thoughts. My bi-lateral mastectomy was completed on 2/24! It took 5 hours and I spent the night in the hospital. I can't wait to get these tubes out! Surgeon called last night and said they got everything. Only the sentinal node had cancer cells. Woo Hoo! So, I'm at Stage 2 IDC.…

DeQuervains Tenosynovitis
Now I have this. Vent time. My left wrist has been bothering me for some time and I finally went to the doctor to have him look at it and possibly do a cortisone injection. 2nd Weigh In - Weight Watchers
Last night, Monday, March 1, was my second weigh in. I lost 1 lb. 2 oz. Total weight loss now 4 lbs. Walked 5 days, 1 hour per day. No longer winded when I walk. Again, not totally legal. I am not recording my points. Consequently, I probably am not eating all my points which will result in not losing as much weight as I…

How long from discovery to treatment
I'm curious how this worked for other people. It seems like every step takes FOREVER but I don't know if I am just too impatient, too freaked out to get the show on the road. I found a lump mid January. Took 2 days to get a Dr. appt, that was good. Then it took 2 weeks to get appt. for a special mammogram. Then it took…

Never went through shocked period...
Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone out there had any kind of experience like me. I found out I had cancer because of a Chest CT done as a checkup for back surgery I also had last year. The lungs were fine, but I got a letter from the radialogist saying he found a "spiculated density" in the tail (?) of my right upper…
