Chemo or not--terrible day @ oncologist
Thanks to everyone's advice about whether or not I should have chemo. After reading your replies, I have decided chemo is definitely the best choice. My sweet husband keeps telling me "You've gone 90% of the way, might as well go the other 10%...can't stop now." We had an appt with the oncologist today, but I didn't…

Check out Tasha's expressions
Tasha, Oh my gosh, those were so funny. I loved the chimney and the reindeer. And isn't it nice that mom and the kids aren't forgetting daddy this year? They made my day. ROFLMAO And Re, that was cruel. All that delicious looking fudge and divinity and me without a virtual computer. It made my mouth water. But I'm glad you…

I am having a lumpectomy tomorrow and I am really afraid because I don't know what to expect. Is it really painful afterwards? The area is about 1 and a half inches of microcalcifications (path dx insiti ductal carcinoma) so will I be very disfigured? Ugh!!! Then I am worried about the pathology report and whats to come…

I received a reminder... to be thankful ... even now.
I have shared before that work has been giving me a hard time... the general manager at our office has not been very supportive through this entire journey I've been on... it's just the way he is... I've been working... begrudgingly... they won't allow me to work through lunch to leave an hour early... no working from…

Surgery update
Hi, had my surgery yesterday and it went fine. The 4 needle sticks in nuclear med were like slight bee stings, they don't give you a numbing med for it. Surgery took about 3 hours since I had an expander put in. I have 2 drains which I drain myself. They found some cancer cells in one of my lmph nodes and I believe they…

Husbands
My husband is very supportive and a good man. However Ihave found that this is so hard for him, he has said seeing me and the girls sick just kills him. and Ive seen it in other circumstances. my sister had a needle biopsy on a microscopic spot, it came back cancer. What do they do when they are that small, do they remove them? I don't know because I am doing chemo to shrink mine because it was large. She is waiting for her doctor to schedule her with the surgeon.

Results of MRI
Well, I had the MRI last Friday. TWO HOURS AND 20 MINUTES IN THAT MACHINE!!!! If I had any military secrets, I'd have spilled my guts. I went back to my oncologist yesterday to get the results. I think I'm being paid back for never having flunked a test in elementary, high school, or college. I can't seem to pass any test…

Just curious... what does everyone use as their 'anniversary date'?
Do we use the day of our mamagram when something 'suspicious' was found? The day of our bioposy? The day we heard the horrible news that we most assuredly had cancer? The day it was taken out of us? I read all these posts about anniversary and I'm just not sure what mine will be ;)

Casey Alexander Martinez passed tonight
I can't thank each of you enough for your thoughts and prayers in response to my post regarding Casey. The doctors ran another brain scan this afternoon, and determined that he was not improving, and recommended that the respirator be removed. They turned off the machine, and he died at 8:30 PM tonight. We are all…

Cancer antigen bloodwork range
Does anyone know what makes the CA test results vary within the acceptable range? My normal range is 0-38 and my results flucuate. Any ideas why? My onco is not worried, but I would feel more comfortable if my number were low, and stayed low.

Tamoxifen and a rare uterine cancer connection known since 1993
When I first learned of the connection between uterine papillary serous carcinoma and Tamxifen use to stave off repeat breast cancer. I assumed it was a recent discovery and doctors weren't mentioning it because they had yet to learn of it. Today I found this abstract from 1993. Whatever happened to first do no harm? J…

I too lost a best friend yesterday, my sister Diane Sanders
Such an amazing woman! Such a fighter! She also lost her battle with B/c after being detected 3 1/2 years ago, going through the treatments, into remission, only to have it come back with a vengeance. But she fought each tumor as it arrived, first the lungs, then the brain, both were diminished with radiation because they…

CSNers Ornament Exchange Update!
Well, it was actually a few weeks ago... (didn't have a properly working computer, nor was my tree up yet!) Dear, sweet Lili sent two utterly perfect-for-me ornaments! Third Chemo Tomorrow
I saw my Onc today and he doesn't like that I am still having Big "D" even while I am taking Immodium and Lomatol. I told him if I have to have Big "D" for 2 weeks after Chemo that I would just deal with it and do the best that I can to make sure I keep enough fluids in me so that I don't get dehydrated. He said that he…
