Chemo or not?
I have a very difficult decision to make. My internist and my oncologist have both told me that chemo is not really needed. (I have a stage 1 with no node involvment.) I am currently receiving radiation. The oncologist said that I have an 80% chance of no recurrance. That also translates into a 1 in 5 chance that the…

Just a thought.
I wonder if there are many like me out there who are amazed how much God is addressed through this fight for life. I just wanted to say that there was a time when I figured some people hid behind God to avoid what is going on in thier lives. When I was diagnosed with Cancer my mother asked me "Are you praying?" This coming…

Scans....hurry up and wait!!!!!!
Thank you Sherry, Brenda and Lola for your responses to my post regarding my follow up scans. Although my appt. was for 10:30 am on Tues., one of their CT's was not operating and did not get CT scans until 3:30 that afternoon. During the "waiting time" I had the bone scan. While I was having my scan, another technician…

It was fat tissue
Hello everyone. I had the surgery on July 2nd for the very tender lumps on my chest wall. They turned out to be "irritated fat tissue" according to my surgeon. The path report will be back on Friday but he has seen so much of this that I trust him completely. He has to be the best surgeon in the world. He has never hurt…

What's the skinny on Taxol?
I have just finished my 4 treatments of A/C and wonder what the medical profession hasn't told me..again. My onco has me set up to take Decadron/Zantac the nite before and the morning of each chemo treatment. If it is going to be this bad, what hasn't he told me?

Metastatic breast cancer
I wrote to this CSN group in March seeking some answers to my problem. Pains began in January as intermittent and progressed to severe and chronic by May. I felt as if my doctors were not taking me seriosly since the recent mammogram was clear. After several medications and visits to a neurologist my oncologist ordered a…

Has anyone taken Leukine or Neupogen with chemo?
Because of a persistent infection that keeps coming back when my WBC's are down (in the site of the lumpectomy), my doctors are recommending that I take Leukine shots (similar to Neupogen) for 7 days after chemo to boost my immune system. Have any of you done this? Did you experience any side effects? Do you know how much…

Effexor for hot flashes
Yes, I have been taking Effexor for about a year now and I am down to a few mild hot flashes a day. I started out at 12.5 mg twice a day for one week; then 25 twice a day for some months. When I told my oncologist that the Effexor was helping but did not completely stop the flashes, he increased the dose to 75 a day, and…

Thanks to everyone who replied to my message, "Mom Newly Diagnosed." Does your Dr want you to take progestrone?
I was pre-menopausal when I underwent chemo for breast cancer and I stopped having periods. My Gyn. Dr. has me take Provera 4 times a year. He says if I have any build up of uterine tissue, this will cause me to have a period. He is worried that by not doing this I am at a greater risk for uterine cancer. I do take…

RE;Mom newly diagnosed
2 years ago I had a mastectomy and 4 rounds of A/C. I don't know if I was just lucky, but I did fine. My blood counts did get very low and instead of having a treatment every three weeks I had to go four weeks between. I was never sick (nausea med's really helped, and my biggest problem was being tired. The hair loss is…

Re: Hair loss
My hair started falling out about 2 weeks after my first treatment. The first days it was not great quantities but when my scalp started to ache and tingle, it came out in clumps. I had gotten it cut short in preparation, but even short it was a mess. I went ahead and shaved it. That was 2 years ago and now my hair is…
