mother of all strictures
Howdy friends. The ENT Dr G and GI Dr Hewett sent me back to surgeon Dr G (no relation, not the same Dr) to deal with the esophageal stricture that prevents *anything* from going down. I cannot swallow my own spit. I cannot burp. It's bad. The trapped Chilean coal miners have a better chance than my stomach to ever see the…

Singing
Happy stuff. I am three years plus post rad/chemo for BOT cancer. My voice sounds gravel like after it returned post treatment; I call it husky or even sexy when I am in a better mood. No singing range whatsoever. Three days ago my ENT went down my throat to remove some radiation built scar tissue at the junction…

rad onc - no LGlutamine or Amifostine or feeding tube recommended - your thoughts?
Hi, We met with the radiation oncologist today. A few things that she mentioned I would like to pass by here and get your thoughts on. No Amifostine: Sloan will not prescribe Amifostine any more. They say that the side affects and possible negative interaction with the treatment outweigh the benefits of small percentage of…

ENT visit Tuesday
My dad has a follow visit with the ENT Tuesday. The last two visits did go well. This visit will determine if we find a new doctor. The question I have is this: When dad had his scans the end of August, the Pet scan indicated mild activity on the original site of the cancer, his tongue. The oncologist told him it was a 3…

Well, after a sleepless night...I had my second post-treatment CT scan and NED was the most welcomed party in the room. My surgical onc said everything looked great and my recovery is ahead of schedule. She commented that since there was virtually no swelling and that the scans looked clean...she would pass this time on…
