scan results aren't what I had hoped for
Hi everyone, Well, I had my PET scan Thursday and I went to the hospital and got my results today. This is the third summer in a row that scan results have brought bad news since my original diagnosis in Aug 2007. I suppose it could have been worse, but I was definitely hoping things would be totally gone or at least no…

Kim is Home from Gall Bladder Surgery
Hey Everybody Just thought I would take a minute to let you know that the gall bladder surgery was a success and went through without complications. I've got her home now, her meds in her, and got her laying down resting and hopefully sleeping awhile. She's in pain but is to be expected with that kind of surgery. She told…

Still NED!
Yesterday I visited with my medical oncologist. My CEA was 1.6 and she said I continue to do well. I then went and had a mammogram (yearly check -up ) and bless them, they read it right there (the tech had to maneuver around my port so that was probably a tip-off) and it was NORMAL. Whew! I still remain NED. Next month is…

After some complications from a back surgery, we found out a couple of weeks ago that my husband (34 yo) had a tumor in his large intestine with mets in the liver (3 spots). He is starting chemo in a couple of weeks after he is recovered from having the original tumor removed, with the hope of qualifying for resection.…

Nice, new, disgusting topic!
As some of you know, i've been having terrible bowel issues since my takedown in May. First there was having to go constantly with suicidal pain, then there was the severe constipation with very similar pain. Through this all, some issues have improved while others seem to have worsened, or just remain the same. After…

calling philleg....re erbitux
Hey Phil and all who know about Erbitux: I know about the requirement of wild type KRAS for erbitux and the acne issue but I am wondering how it is given and in combo with what? With Folfox or Folfiri or alone or what? What other side effects? What schedule is common? Is it used for "maintenance chemo"? Serrana

Post-Surgery Radiation and Avastin for Stage III
Has anyone had post-surgery radiation therapy to treat rectal cancer? If so, did you experience a lot of side effects? My Dad did not have any pre-surgery treatment. Now his primary doctors are debating whether to give him post-surgery radiation? Has any Stage III taken Avastin? I understand that it is more for Stage IVs.…

My Colon is NED / Wierd news on missing mass
Whoohooo! the CT scan gave some answers about that mass the doctor said he lost...and we can rule out a return of the colon cancer. (major happy dancing here). Of course, the answers about the mass were as crazy as the rest of this experience. My uterus is covered with tumors and is being pulled strongly to the right. On…

Has anyone had a colonoscopy while taking Avastin?
I have not had another colonoscopy since my initial diagnosis in Aug. '07. I had a sigmoidoscopy in March '08, which was good, but haven't had anything since then. Two out of three oncologists I've consulted with told me as long as I'm on Avastin, I can't get a colonoscopy done. I'm still on Avastin every other week as…

I just got my pump off. I finished my 3rd treatment, everything seems fine. I have that metallic taste in my mouth, a slight sensitivity to cold. The cold sensitivity was really diminished this time by the calcium and magnesium. I have a PET/Ct next week to see where I stand. I think I have responded well. My CEA fell from…

Convinced One Family member to Do Colonosscopy!!!
Hello, We have all talked about hwo despite a likely genetic connection with CRC, we've encountered "stalled" responses from family/friends about doing the scopes. Well, thankfully, I've gotten through to one hard head ( many to go!), he had it done today, age 42 w/ two polyps removed. Blessings and peace, V.

Is there any way to raise low BP? Hospice said my wife is near the end. I won't , can't accept that
I care for my wife at home. She was diagnosed with colon cancer, lung and liver cancer too. The surgeon removed a large tumor from her colon, but, would not do anything for her liver and lungs. She is so weak that it is impossible to take her to the oncologist, who by telephone said that if she is that weak, he would most…
