What cancer take from us
Greetings ladies! I have been finished with all treatments for about 6 months now. My hair is growing back. I have my energy back and am able to work out daily. I look normal again. Although I am good physically, emotionally I am not as good as I would like to be. Cancer has taken my sense of "security" from me, I guess.…

My new plan to fight the beast is in place now...
Update! It's been a fairly rough 2 weeks....I finished my 10 rads to the brain last Friday...glad that's over, but to be honest the treatments were not bad at all....didn't like the mask they bolt your head down to the table, but coped with it well...you do what you have to do! Both my radiation oncologist and medical…

How long for White and Red Blood Cell Counts to come up?
I finished my 4th round of A/C 2 weeks ago. On the lab before that one, my WBC was 45.6, so my onco said I should skip the Neulasta shot that time. I was supposed to start Taxol today, but my WBC was 1.2 and my RBC was 8.8. :-( I guess that explains why I get to feeling tired and winded. So, chemo was postponed til next…

It almost feels like its being pulled to one side sometimes. I have been stretching as prescribed by my PS and do feel a little bit of a difference. Will this…

Crap! Should I be worried? CA 125 blood results
Sooo, I went in for a baseline internal ultrasound and they found a strangulated cyst. My gyno had me go for blood work. They did the CA 125 test that tests levels of cancer cells. She just called and said it's inconclusive and borderline so she wants me to see a gynecological oncologist for a consult. I am waiting for her…

First biopsy and scared
Tomorrow morning I have my first biopsy for something found during a routine mammogram which they couldn't see on an ultrasound. They are doing a stereotatic core needle biopsy. In situations like this, I almost always have a sense of peace that nothing will be found. I've always had really good health and there's no…

Knock, knock
Who is it? Fear Fear who? Fear to trust your body after cancer. Sounds familiar? Every ache, every pain can set you off and send your thoughts spinning in circles. My sinus problems have returned, they brought along the usual suspects ear and lung infections. So it's hard not to go there.... but I managed, I am a creative…

Has anyone had signs of Inflammatory breast cancer.
Hi I have had a rash and swelling of my left breast. Went to GYN. Doctor said it was a fungus rash. Told to take lotion and if it didn`t go away in two weeks call back. It was a smooth skin rash. Didnt go away. I went to my general doctor and he said see a surgeon. To make a long story short. I had two mammograms and it…

about my friend
My friend's sister recently completed 8 (12?) rounds of chemo and now they're talking surgery dates. Her surgeon is a real jerk. (I say this because I've seen firsthand how he treats people.) So far, she has had a biopsy with a different surgeon. And from that he told her originally that she had stage 3 breast cancer. At…

anyone have wire directed lumpectomy? update
Thank you all for the support and prayers. Not to scare anyone, but mine was very painful, probably bz they said I had so much scar tissue from the biopsy(s). I had two tumors. The good news is that margins came back clear, so I will start radiation next week. We won this battle, but there is still a war to fight and win.…

Mastectomy and expander pain
Hi girls, I had bilateral mastectomy three weeks ago, and expanders put in. I thought I was doing really well- no infection etc.. But the extreme soreness on the skin and burning is driving me insane. I'm taking Panadol, and anti-inflammatories, but they don't seem to make any difference. I was given Tamal, but they play…

Breast Tomosynthesis (3D Mammogram)
Had a 3D mammogram yesterday, a new technology that help doctors detect smaller tumors sooner, especially useful for those of us with dense breasts. This machine is available at the breast center of my hospital. My Medicare HMO will be charged for regular 2D mammogram, co-pay was $50 and the remaining costs are covered by…

What to expect?
So, I'm a 10 year bc survivor. Stage IIA, negative nodes, er/pr+, her2-, received lumpectomy, node dissection, 4 rounds AC, and radiation in 2001/2002. I was 29 years old. Now I'm 39 and have been diagnosed a second time with what appears to be a stage I tumor in the same breast. I decided to have a double mas. with…
