I'd like to take a moment...
first of all to wish everyone a safe and wonderful Memorial day. I work for an Insurance Company that predominantly serves our Military so I always hear such touching and heroic stories from our Military families. I'd like to personally thank all who have served our country in any way. Maybe we can share on this thread…

Today was AMAZING!
I teach Kindergarten and it was the kids' last day of school. Our entire staff wore pink and each had on a pink ribbon with a message of hope and encouragement for me in my breast cancer battle! Our media clerk laminated the ribbons today and I am supposed to get them to keep when the teachers return on Tuesday. I am so…

OK to shave (as opposed to buzz) hair?
Hi everyone, I'd say I have about 50% of the hair on my head left. It started coming out on day 14 (Tuesday this week). I fear that when I shower today much more will come out, perhaps making what is left to little to keep. I don't own a machine to buzz the hair with. Id rather not go to the hairdresser to buzz it. I have…

Taking kids to counseling
I thought I would post this because there are many who have younger children when diagnosed. Not that older children don't count but after you read this you will understand my reason for posting. My son was 9.5 and my daughter 12.75 when I was diagnosed. They seemed to have handled the news just fine. My son, being happy…

per an email I received shortly before the end of my work day... "'Mary's' mom just called me on the phone. Mary is still in a lot of pain and is finding it hard to talk or visit still. Her mother said that she would like texts cause she can read those. She may not be able to answer all because she is napping a lot but…

hi everyone, been so long
Never estimate the power of prayer. Another good dr report on Tuesday, he said my liver has been back to norma. I also met Lauara and she is a doll, so haopy and positive! and she loves Philly. We did not get time together, i had a ride in that day and he had to leave, but a hug and a kiss are enough for me.! Hope everyone…

I really need some advice
About a year and a half to 2 years ago my mother in law, age 67, was diagnosed with breast cancer. She didn't tell anyone for a long time. We only found out because she finally said something to her brother and he called us against her wishes. She made us promise not to tell anyone and she still doesn't want anyone to…

Would love some of your thoughts!
So I kind of laid out my story on the "herceptin" [post), but would really love to hear some of your thoughts on choosing to NOT do chemo. I went through chemo with my first cancer in 08, and I still ended up with it spreading to my liver and needing a liver resection. When I was first diagnosed with breast cancer they…

Side effect of Arimidex -- osteoporosis getting worse -- kinda scared
I realize there are those among us with more dire concerns than mine, but my oncologist is sending me to an endocrinologist because my bone density scan is even worse than a year ago. I've also been on Arimidex a year. It scares me. I've been exercising lots -- walking and Zumba (check out a YouTube video -- not the…

Memorial Weekend Wig Removal
So, the weather in the DC area is getting to our summer normal - 90 degrees, sticky, hot and humid. With my hair beginning to grow back - slowly - I think this will be the "Ditch the Wig" weekend! Question - how long after your hair started growing did you stop wearing wigs, hats, scarves, etc.? Bonnie

need some advice
I realize this is kind off topic...and in some ways not... Let's just say at this point I am still a bit overweight and in the process of growing my hair back. Treatment ended in December for me... Recently, my husband decided to friend an ex girlfriend of his on facebook. I was devastated to say the least. I am sure the…

Done with radiation! Mixed emotions
Hello Sisters! I'm done! Yesterday was my last day. Now that it's all said and done, it went by fairly quickly. I never got a rash, just very red and slightly tender. This site has helped a lot! I had a weird and unexpected emotional reaction. In some ways I felt sad to stop. There's part of me that felt as long as I was…

Rude people stories
I'm posting this because someone else's story helped me (Chen's, maybe?) and I want to pay it forward. A few months ago, when I was just starting to grow some hair (buzz cut stage), I was waiting for my food at Panera's when an old man (definitely NOT a gentleman)came up to me and said that no matter how short I cut my…

One Week From Today...
One week from today I will be having surgery, a mastectomy. I've been trying to work my way through a barrage of emotions about losing my breast. I am in a war against the cancer in my body. With every war there is loss, casualties, collateral damage. In this case, my breast. I feel like cancer has been and is stealing…

2 more boost treatments then what?
I have 2 more boost treatments to go and then I am finished with my rads. What happens after that? Do I still get seen by the radiology oncologist or do I move on? About how long does it take to get back to "normal"? When does the redness go away? When does the tiredness go away? I am truly exhausted! I meet with my breast…

Has anyone been on Eribulin?
Part of my new protocol. I am being taken off of Tamoxifen and Abraxane, and will now be on this new chemo along with one of the anti aromatases. Was suppose to start it today but it will be tomorrow as it didn't make it into the shipment. I am apprehensive to say the least as I am the first in this office to be on this…

I am taking Femara and I am having a very hard time of it. My arthritis is ten times worse than before I took Femara. I can hardly use my hands anymore. I have many other side effects from this drug but the bone pain is the worst. Has anyone else had this problem? Thank God I don't have osteoporosis at this time, but I…

Anyone have to go back in and take out more nodes after treatment was complete?
So I had my lumpectomy, 6 nodes came out, had chemo and rads. Completed all end of Oct 2010. Now I have some remaining nodes that are concerning surgeon so I had an ultrasound. Anyone else have this? I am guessing they would go in and take them out if there was any concern but what else? Surgeon said it was probably fine…
