Rads are done and cruising in 2 weeks!!
Rads are done and cruising in 2 weeks! I am finally done with rads (30 treatments) and yes I a burnt up! I am so glad I have a few weeks to get cleared up before the cruise. My DR said for 7 to 10 days I will still be "cooking" on the inside, so not to get any sun YET! I know there will be shade somewhere on that boat!! So…

Finished! Finally! (I hope..)
Just had to post that I have had my final surgery this morning. The end of the reconstruction process, and am so relieved that I am now at the end of another fun and exciting portion of this roller coaster ride we call "being diagnosed with cancer". This has been such an amazing ride, the ups and downs, wondering if it…

Newcomer with questions on TAC chemo
I have soooo many questions, I don't even know where to start. I had a lumpectomy on Feb. 17th and mammosite rediation a week later. Now for the hard part. My chemo starts next Tuesday(TAC). I'd like to know what to expect. I'm reading a lot of scary stuff! What I dread most I think is the nausea. Any positive news out…

Today's funny
I just saw this on another website and thought it was very appropriate for us. Enjoy!! It is a fact that Eve was created first and when God was finished He asked Eve what she thought. "I like it", she said as she looked at her image in a pool of water. "Except for one thing." "Oh?" Asked God, looking Eve up and down. "Yes,…

Misdiagnosed and needing support
I found a fairly large growth in my left breast and went to my Dr. in January. He sent me for a mammogram and ultrasound. The mammographer was so kind, and said "there's an exception to every rule, but don't worry too much, breast cancer doesn't usually grow this fast, nor is it painful like yours is. The labs came back…

job lost
Well, ladies I just got laid off today. I am a pathologist and there are about three job openings in the entire New England area (where I currently live). I have three months to find a job before no pay check. I am spiralling downwards and having trouble staying positive. This has been the worse ten months of my life. I…

this is SO not what I was told...
I have read some of the posts and may have some misspellings/ etc due to the fact that I am once again starting to cry (good thing back at the pysch tomorrow). I would NEVER have done this if they hadn't lied to me. I didn't HAVE to have the double mastectomy, I could have just had another lumpectomy and bought a "cutlet",…

Taxol Side Effects
I have had 2 Taxol treatments over the past 2 weeks. I am just off 4 rounds of AC chemo too. I have noticed that I am having sharp chest pains. Have you had that side effect? Or is it just me being too stressed with life?!

emotional mess today
I'm really not sure where it cam from and just really need to vent. But I finished my 2nd round of chemo a week ago today and went back to work part-time on March 15th. I have battling the big D since Saturday. Got to work today and completely had a emotional melt down in front of my boss. I have 4 more rounds of TAC to go…

Who Packs Your Parachute?
INSIGHTS INTO EXCELLENCE Packing Parachutes - Excerpt from Chapter 16 By Charlie Plumb Recently, I was sitting in a restaurant in Kansas City. A man about two tables away kept looking at me. I didn't recognize him. A few minutes into our meal he stood up and walked over to my table, looked down at me, pointed his finger in…

Pathology back but no dancing for me
Well one tube out and one left and it does feel good for the little victories. My pathology was some good some not so. My tumor(invasive duct) was under the nipple and 9mm but I had a field of calcium behind it that did not look good so I opted for the mastectomy. Lucky for me cause behind that field was another invasive…

Does anyone ever say no. . .
to surgery? I have gone through six rounds of chemo, now am being told left breast has to be removed. What if I don't want to have it removed? I had a couple of biopsies, one before treatment started, one during. It took over two months to heal from the infection I got from the second biopsy. I am scared that I will not be…

Decisions
Has anyone ever made a decision about their treatment and questioned whether it is the right one or not? I think that is why I have avoided talking to many people because I know everyone would give me their opinion as to what they would do and I would be even more confused. I have had 3 biopsies on the right breast so when…

Will it ever get easier? It still hurts…
I went to genetic counseling today. Even my hospital and cancer center have electronic records, every time when I see a new doctor, I have to tell my story about cancer. Why doctors don’t read? I know I have a very big file. Today’s geneticist was not exception, so told how and when I discovered my tumor, the size, the…

Update from Sunrae
Sorry I haven't been on too much lately but it seems like I ran out of energy since I had the heart procedure to open up one of my blocked arteries. Its probably more from the bronchitis or asthma than the heart. Today I went to another cardiologist that will be at the same hospital where I'll be having my masectomy and he…

chemo and rosacea
I had my first chemo treatment about a week and a half ago- TAC - and did really well. My question is I have Rosacea and I am going through a really bad breakout. It may just be from stress. Does anybody have this problem and if you have any tips it would be helpful. Also, did your chemo make it worse. Thanks.

I found a great post bilasteral reconstruction bra
I don't know about you guys but, I had a terrible time finding a nice looking and feeling bra since my implants were placed. The sports bra and the type bras my grandmother used to wear were not doing it for me. And because I'm a C cup, most of the bras are huge and made to support big boobs. Not remotely attractive or…
