Chemo Brain
I am 18 months out from my last chemo session and I am still dealing with issues of chemo brain. I know that there are many of you that have also dealt with this so I thought I would share a presentation on YouTube done by Susan Hardwicke, Ph.D. I found it to be very interesting and I am thankful that there are people out…

Breast cancer-themed holiday cards
I'm planning to bake cookies to take to all my doctors' offices before Christmas, to thank them for all they've done for me this year, and I got to wondering if there were any appropriately-themed holiday cards I could include. I ended up on the CafePress site (cafepress.com), and found some great cards by searching on…

breast hard after lumpetomy
It has been over 1 month since my lumpectomy and my breast is still very tender and hard. I would not be worried about it being hard except it isn't hard where they took the lump from. It's even higher than the incision and below it. There is no redness or oozing from the incision. It's just started to get more tender and…

hairless-all over
I just noticed today that the hair is completely off my legs and arms, my head is now shiny after losing the stubble left from the clippers, the whiskers are off my chin, and no "bikini wax" is needed anytime soon. But my eyebrows and lashes are still hanging on. When do they go? I'm doing the 3rd chemo on the 16th.

Help for AI side effects, maybe...
Although I cannot find a lot of hard data regarding the efficacy of quinine (tonic water)for muscle cramping, I have found a ton of anecdotal info from other bc survivors. Also, I found anecdotal info on the use of cherry juice, daily, for joint pain and swelling. I'm not advocating the use of both these products, but I…

Prothesis
Ok, so I was getting dressed this morning and remembered I've been wanting to do this post. I had a radical mastectomy of my left breast without immediate reconstruction. My surgeon felt it would be in my best interest to wait until after radiation. Anyway, I'm getting real tired of 'pinning' in the foam form that I…

taleena ??
Hi taleena, Thanks for your info on the "CYP2D6" test. Since you were a "poor" metabolizer, did they give you any other options? Just wondering? I know it matters if your pre or post menopausal ?? The chemo put me into menopause so I'm not sure what I am. I believe they still wait a year before they change you from…

New Jersey
Was inspired by a couple posts to find out if anyone here lives in good ole Joisey. I live near the shore, about an hour north of Atlantic City. I guess it doesn't ask on our profiles where we're from. I was thinking... wouldn't it be neat to plan something down the road where somehow we could all meet, face to face? I…

Tamoxifen Side Effects
I'm wondering if any of you who are taking Tamoxifen have problems with stomach aches and nausea. I've been on Tamoxifen since the middle of July. I didn't have any problems at first, not even much trouble with hot flashes, but in the past two and a half months on an average of about once every week and a half to two…

Did you hear a chant today sounding like" CSN, BC BOARDS?" Are your feet tired? Do your legs ache?
If so, it's because I finished the half marathon in record time! For me, anyway, which ain't sayin' much! I have had to stop even thinking about running, and I walk the course at a really good steady clip~ no strolling! The is beautiful, along the ocean and winding around some really pretty neighborhoods But I did 13.5…

Rookie could use some advice
I'm new to this site, and new to the experience. I've read all of these postings - some have frightened the fool out of me, others have provided an insight I desparately need. Ok, veterans, can you give a rookie a hand? I have been diagnosed with ILC (Invasive Lobular) and am scheduled for a bilateral mastectomy next…

"CYP2D6" test? (metabolizing tamoxifen test?)
Has anyone had the test to see if they are metabolizing tamoxifen? I had it done over three weeks ago and am still waiting for the results. Does it usually take this long? I've been taking the tamoxifen for a little over a month now and after reading the posts here decided to have the test if my insurance would cover it.…

Caling all adriamycin gals....
I just saw a cardiologist yesterday for increasing palpitations and heart troubles...sigh... He said "So, how often did you have an echo cardiogram during the period you were infused with adriamycin?" He was horrified with my answer "None". "They should have been monitoring better", he said. (I LOVE this man, very…

Day After Chemo #1 - How Y'all Doing?
Hey All You First Timers - How did your first Chemo go? Mine went surprisingly well. . .at least so far! I started to have a slight reaction to the Taxotere right at the end - so they slowed it down and diluted it with saline and it went ok. It took about 6 1/2 hours to do the whole thing. No nausea to speak of. . .a…

Feeling overwhelmed
Hey everyone. I was diagnosed with BC Dec. 19, 2009. It was very aggressive and had become IBC. The whole ordeal has been a roller coaster ride. I had 5 months of chemo which was interrupted for a hemorrhoidectomy because the AC caused such severe bowel problems. Mastectomy was July 22, removed 23 lymph nodes and 12 were…

Rads question, or is it a femara one?
Hey, y'all! Hope today finds you in good spirits. I have a rads question. I have had eleven treatments so far: the area treated extends from the mid chest in front to mid spine in back. (I get seven days to one area, then five to the back, and so on until all 37 are done.) After my ninth treatment, my entire body quite…
