Need to share...
Yesterday was a milestone. I had my two year check-up and full mammogram...NED. Yeah! I'm so happy. Plus, my carotid arteries were clear. When I was diagnosed on November 7, 2007, I was hit with a double whammy. Breast cancer and a serious blockage of my right carotid artery. Now, two years out, after two surgeries, chemo…

Well, here it is 2:20am (alarm due to go off in 3 1/2 hours) and I am wide awake. Anxious about seeing my Onc today. Getting there will not be an easy trip for me as I am still in quite a bit of pain (1 1/2 hr ride). I am hoping she will step in and do some further checking into this situation with my abdomin and healing.…

Thursday I get a pet scan and and then the following week I start my chemo. This is going to sound wierd but I can't wait to get it started. Once I decide what I want to do I want to do it immediately. Maybe all of this will teach me to have more patience but I doubt it. Learned something today. Thought I was trying to get…

I was at work today.. and for the first time at work I went with no scarf or wig on. I was waiting by the elevator with my fuzzy head.. to remove ovaries or not
Hi ladies, I haven't been on the boards in a while but could use some input. I had double mastectomy, did A/C, Taxol and am on Herceptin and Tamoxifen. My doctor checked my estrogen level due to me still getting a period. She said my estrogen level is 90% and also said that is normal level for someone my age(34). My cancer…

metastasized????
I had a mastectomy two years ago, stage 2B, no lymph node involvement. I've been taking Tamoxifen, a horrible drug and I stopped it for a couple of months because it makes me feel horrible. For the past couple of months, I have noticed some pale blood on the tissue after urination. Sometimes tea-colored, sometimes rosey,…

Chemo #1 went well!
Lori, I told you I'd let you know how it went today and it went really well. They had to slow down the taxotere about halfway thru, I got queasy a couple of times and downright nauseous towards the end of the cytoxan so they gave me ativan. I consider it an excellent beginning to this leg of the journey. Hope you're still…

My daughter has H1N1
As if being on chemo isn't enough, my 8 year old just tested positive for the H1N1. Thank God she already had the shot or she could be much worse than she currently is. Anyway, I am trying to be careful: lots of hand sanitizer, letting hubby handle the "vomit patrol", etc. HOWEVER, I was a little surprised when my…

This is what happens when you get old:
Your hearing goes. I was playing 24 Hours from Tulsa and I heard, She took me to a cafe. I asked her if she would pay. Moral: If you don't hear so good don't go to a cafe with a guy.

Ok, I'm starting to freak out
Surgery on Thursday (11/12). DCIS in 3 lumps (6mm, 7mm, 1.3cm), likely stage 1, unilateral mastectomy with sentinel node biopsy. After much discussion, I decided to have immediate reconstruction (extender put in). The thing is, I'm still not sure that is what I want. I'm pretty unhappy about the additional recovery time…

Just keep staring...
Last week I finally finished 11 months of treatment and Sat. I received a letter from my surgeon saying it was time for my MRI. I just keep staring at the piece of paper knowing I need to call and make this appointment, but can't make myself pick up the phone and do it. I dread it. Beth

Lola - How's it Going?
How did the weekend go? And the neulasta - not a big deal, right? It's been easier than I had feared! Hope the same for you. I am off to a naturalist to see what kind of immune support they can offer! Check in with you all later! Lori

Almost finished with RADS!
Had #21 this morning. Each Monday they take films before radiation, so Mondays take a few minutes. I always wind up with tingling fingers on Monday from having my hands above my head for so long. Today they had to re-do my X and put a new sticker over it. I have a really itchy rash that is spreading towards my neck. The…

Things kids say
I finished my 4th round of AC chemo over a week ago. It took me longer to recover last week than usual. I was really tired and sleepy over the past week and was unable to get to church on Sunday. Our pastor came by to pray for me. When he finished praying, my precious 3-year-old daughter said "Thank you for praying for my…

The Mysteries of Management..
Start with a cage containing five monkeys. Inside the cage, hang a banana on a string and place a set of stairs under it. Before long, a monkey will go to the stairs and start to climb towards the banana. As soon as he touches the stairs, spray all of the other monkeys with cold water. After a while, another monkey makes…

Can my hair be growing back?
My hair fell out around the 14th day after my first chemo. I did not shave my head, and had some peach fuzz remaining. Had 2nd chemo 10/27. It appears that some of that fuzz is growing a bit longer. Is this possible or am I hallucinating?

natural cure stuff
I was wondering if anyone else sees this disease as a big money maker for dr.s radiologists drug companys hospitals etc. I just feel like the organization is just putting me on a conveyer belt and moving me down the line ,like a factory, do this, zap that, see me in 2 weeks. Its not that I dislike any one of the Dr.s that…

Deodorant or anti persperant suggestions?
I have a large scar under my arm where lymph nodes were removed. Had my last surgery in August, and have not worn any deodorant or anti persperant under this arm. I'm currently on antibiotics for an infection at the surgical site which developed after the 2nd surgery. I wear an anti persperant under the other arm, but…
