Juicing
Do any of you ladies juice regularly? I am back and forth in my mind as to whether or not I should buy a juicer. I have read that there are many health benefits to juicing. As always, thanks for your input. Carla

alternative therapies; esp for Tethys41
As indicated before, I am very interested in doing some of things you (Tethys41) are doing/have done re: naturopathic alternatives and Mexico. My plan of action is to find a local naturopathic doctor to help boost my whole body health, then perhaps go to Mexico to see what they have to offer. I just finished chemo and…

Cat scan
I got the results of my cat scan today and every thing is going very well. My lymph are reducing and the mass on my adrenol glad is stable. They are not even sure if it is cancer so they are just going to keep an eye on it. I am amazed at fast things are going after only two chemo treatments my numbers droped from 2000 to…

still waiting for chemo essay results
or is it assay? I can never keep all my terminology right. I had surgery on the 31st, and it went way better than I ever dreamed. I breezed through, was out of the hospital in 8 days and hardly have any pain 15 days out. My mom and I flew back to Seattle today, when we found out the chemo assay is not due out until next…

Just Curious

OMG....I have completely lost my mind and "killed" off Libby P
I am sooooooooo sorry for upsetting all you ladies. I thought Kelly was Libby's daughter, and I knew that Kelly's mom died in August. Then I got an email from Lisa (13Q) and she mentioned "Libby passed" as well - obviously not "our" Libby. I will fix the video ASAP. I am sooooo sorry for the misunderstanding and apologize…

Biopsy 3 weeks ago and still don't have a chemo plan
I had a biopsy 3 weeks ago that confirmed recurrent disease and as of today, still no chemo plan. My doctor won't be having a tumor board meeting until next wednesday and probably treatment won't begin until the following week, at a minimum. So that will be 5 weeks after the discovery of the recurrence. Seems like a long…

A question for ladies in remission
Once I finished treatment my oncologist told me I would see her every six months and my surgeon once a year. I have the CA125 every three months. During treatment I felt so cared for. I could call anytime for any reason. Once I finished treatment I am back in the hands of my primary. I emailed my oncologist in March about…

The other shoe may have dropped--or not
I've been sitting around with "inactive cancer" for several months now since I went on a chemo break in the spring of this year. I've also been following the "anti-cancer" program as outlined by Dr. Servan-Schreiber and hoping I could keep the malignant cells dormant as long as possible. Had my CA-125 checked earlier this…

I posted Nancy's memorial on her FB page
If you belong to Teal Warriors, you can also access it from there. It was such a bittersweet undertaking. I hope to take lots of photos on Saturday - the quilt, the memorial wall, etc. Carlene

Real Hope....But
Today's Science section in the NY Times has a story about the most hopeful treatment I've read yet. Titled "An Immune System Trained to Kill Cancer," it tells of an experiment with just 3 participants, all near death from advanced chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and two of whom are now in total remission for a year. The…

Short Remission Part 2
It seems there is alot of discussion about recurrences. I am amazed and inspired by how strong all the women on this board are. I was only in remission for 2 months. Recently I ended up in the hospital with a bowel obstruction, caused by the new growth. Fortunately, the obstruction cleared on its own after 5 days of having…

New picture
I have a new display picture from the winner's walk of hope. Our small city raised 33,000 and the walk nation wide raised 2.6 million. It's a start, let's hope next year it is 3 million. I am the one wearing the shirt with the teal ribbon that says Mom and her passing date. My husband made it for me. It was a great day and…

side effects after round 4
Ok had round four of taxol/carbo and advastin and the bone pain is a lot worst but I am also having problems with the upset stomach and heart burn. I do understand that it will get worst as I get more treatments but I sure do hate this. I never want to have anyone I know go through this again or ever. I know it sounds like…

waiting for ca125 results, on topotecan
Started my third round of topotecan yesterday, and will go all week. Dr did a ca125 yesterday, little nervous about this one. Chemo has been ongoing without a break for a year now. Before starting topo they did a ca125 and was 320 down from over 900 while on carbo. Had to stop carbo because of a severe reaction took…

Hair Color
So my hair is finally coming in and it is coming in silverish gray and brown all mixed together. It is so weird. I know I am young and did have some gray hairs before chemo but not this many. Yikes! How has everybody else's hair come in?

what color am I going to be
I just found out I have to have a biopsy of left breast.. 3 areas..probable malignant. I am not sure how to cope with this. Having one cancer is bad enough,,but two. Yikes/ I am praying for negative results of course but I have this inner intuition that I do have 2 cancers now, I looked up breast core biopsy on google and…

I met Rookerbird!!!
Kathy (Rookerbird) brought some wigs and scarves and hats by yesterday that she wants me to donate to my local support group. Such a sweet lady! And her son, who was visiting from Houston, is a delightful young man. Since Kathy is on some pain meds, her son has been her chauffeur during his visit. He joked that it was…

Memorial Wall
My NOCC local chapter will have their 5K next Saturday and will feature a memorial wall, where we can post names, photos, etc of people we have lost to ovarian cancer. I am working on sheets for all our CSN teal angels. Putting faces to the disease is important. I want people to SEE that this is not something that happens…

mom is gone
Mom passed away suddenly this afternoon. We believe she had some type of CVA, likely caused by a blood clot. Her left leg had swollen to 3 times its normal size, a complication post surgery this past week. I cannot even begin to describe the utter loss I feel, the hopelessness..this grief is consuming me. She died with all…

Radiation Fatigue
I am getting radiation to my clavicle for a recurrence in the nodes. I've had 3 treatments out of 5 so far, and today I felt super fatigued. Is this a common side effect of treatment? Doc said I probably wouldn't have any side effects, but boy I feel wiped out.

OVCA quilt
This makes no sense to me, but below is the email I received today. Hi Carlene. The NOCC has decided that they are not pre selling tickets and you have to be present to win. So......just between me and you.......if your friends want to by tickets they can send the money to me (or you if you are going to be at the walk) and…

Port problem (cellulitis)
Has anyone ever has cellulitis in the area around their port? I went for chemo yesterday and the nurse noticed there was some redness above the port where my incision was originally made and the area felt warm. I was able to get chemo thru my vein. After much going back and forth between nurses, I finally saw the dr. The…

Durable remission with chemo alone for recurrence anybody?
Need to hear some uplifting stories today. Is it even possible to achieve a durable remission (1 year or longer) doing chemo alone without surgery, or chemo first, followed by surgery for a 2nd recurrence? I am 5 years out from 1st recurrence and I know the statistics regarding remissions getting shorter and shorter, but…
