Tinnitus
Hi, I have continued to receive support from all of you, even though I do not post much, since my dx in Aug., 2009. You all are blessings!! I am a little over a year post-chem (a blessing to be sure). I have a question - has any one had difficulty with tinnitus (ringing in the ears). It began about six months ago, just…

new treatment
The team of doctors decided I should change treatment. I will be starting Topo on Monday. 3 days in a row every 3 weeks. I also have significant ascites. I will talk to my doc about having it tapped out. Even though it doesn't look like alot I know there is a lot there. I am tall with a long torso...I'm sure I can carry…

Sarah (The Carcinista)
Sarah has made the decision to discontinue treatment. The current drug is not working, and Taxol or Topotecan, according to her doctor, might give her an additional week or two, but no more. She posted: I’m TIRED. Tired of feeling rotten, of being stuck in the house, of not being able to do anything for anyone but myself…

It's been two years...
It's been two years since I was diagnosed stage 3C OVCA. I have never gone into remission and will be on chemo forever. My latest cat scan shows no new growth but my cancer is very aggressive so I can't stop chemo. For everyone else (my family and friends) life goes on. But I can not escape the cancer. I'm quite sick of…

God Bless You All
Hi ladies. My mom passed away a year ago this coming June 13th. I just wanted to tell you all thank you so much for helping me the 15 months that she struggled and battled this horrible disease. I still get on here even though she is gone now and I pray for everyone on here. My heart is absolutely broken that my mama is…

Third Time Survivor - Advanced Stage IV Ovarian Cancer
Since 2003 , I have been going through this up and down rollercoaster of being "chronic." Last time I had Carbo/Gemzar on a 2 week on 1 week off for OVER a year--until I had a reaction to the Carboplatin. That was in 2007. When I regressed this time, I chose a super-experimental chemo pill because after all the expenses of…

Need help with cisplatin experiences
Hi Loves, I'm being switched over from carbo/gemzar to cisplatin/gemzar this week. Has anyone done this combo? I'd really like to know what to expect so I can be prepared. I hear you have to drink/drink/drink and that is always a tough one for me for I have trouble downing all the liquids that I should be doing. I sure…

Stopping clinical trial :(
Mom got her ct scan results today. The news was not good, stopped the clinicial trial drug, she did 13 of 15 treatments. She started on Doxil immediately. Her spirits are so low, this is now the third chemo regimen she is on. She became resistant to carbo after 7 treatments and now the trial drug is now longer working. I…

Weight loss and OVCA
I saw LaundryQueen comment that she has noted a correlation with weight loss and initial diagnosis of OVCA. My wife was diagnosed (Stage IV) 6 months after losing 40-50 pounds. Any others have a similar experience?

Hi Nancy re: your CT scan
I was so happy to hear about your decrease in the implants and sorry to hear about your pain and the increase in ascites. I had my CT scan last month after 3 cycles of Avastin / Cytoxan and the results weren't too great. Only 1 implant decreased a little, the rest increased a little. I am now on Avastin / Topotecan. We…

Need help makidng decision for Maintenance stage of PPC
So glad to find this site - the success stories are so encouraging and discussions so informative. I was orginally diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer by on oncologist in FL. He did not offer any encouragement for curing or maintaining my cancer. I came home to IL and went to the Cancer Treatment Center in Zion IL which…

CT scan yesterday
My wife got a ct scan of her abdomen and pelvic yesterday that showed a mass in her one of her ovaries plus what looked like a partially collapsed lung in an xray of her lungs...The doctor has ordered another ct scan of her lung and an ultrasound....We are not sure it is ovarian cancer yet but is it normal for this type of…

CT results
My CT scan today showed the implants and lymph nodes are decreased BUT I do have an increase in ascities. My onc in NYC is unsure if it is due to the cancer or due to portal hypertension from my liver issues. If it is due to the cancer I will have to change treatments. A team of radiologist are going to review the scan and…

CT scan after 2 rounds of chemo
Mom is scheduled for a CT of her pelvis and abdomen tomorrow afternoon. I wait with both fear and hope. We have a care meeting scheduled with her gyn/onc on Tuesday evening. My sister and I are expecting the worst, but desperate for the best. The ascites is back and building, she has been drained twice now. It makes me…

The juice is working
Hi All, I had a PET/Scan last week and got my results today. The juice (Avastin) is working. I was really afraid and worried that it wasn't because I am taking just Avastin alone. But my report came back that it is killing the cancer cells from within on all areas. How awesome is that. I was suppose to see my doctor today…

Update from the GreenHouse (Year 2? seriously?)
Ok...as you know, CA125 had jumped from 13 to 36. Big concern for me as it has more than doubled (however, still nowhere near the almost 10,000 it was at diagnosis!). Saw my med/onc. today. She says it's concerning but could just be a blip. (told me to stop smoking lol). Had another blood draw today and if it's still…

A tribute to my Mom.... FYI I did not write this.
Without You Mom, without you, there would be no me. Your love, your attention, your guidance, have made me who I am. Without you, I would be lost, wandering aimlessly, without direction or purpose. You showed me the way to serve, to accomplish, to persevere. Without you, there would be an empty space I could never fill, no…

My moms final CT results---more s*it to deal with
My mom completed 6 mos of carbo/taxol last month. As many folks on this board recall, she has had quite the ovarian cancer journey. Her ca-125 numbers had been dropping well. Last reading was 16. The CT result declared her NED. That is the good news. The bad news is that they have detected a growing aortic aneurysm. She…

Oh god....what do you ladies think?
Hi I spoke to mum this morning and she thinks she needs the fluid drained. When she went the other week they wouldn't drain it, they don't like to do it unless it is really necessary , so some did remain in in there , she said she could live with it. I am scared , it had stopped filling up , and I am wondering if this…

Ascites whilst on chemo
Does anyone know whether it's normal to have ascites whilst on chemo? Is it something I need to worry about? I started a course of chemo (carbo/taxol) in the middle of January and had my 4th session about 10 days ago. After the 3rd session the ascites I've had since December began to recede a bit, but now it appears to be…

Another check mark on my bucket list
Yesterday I thought my husband and I were going to the casino for a day out. Little did I know he made arrangements for me to go sky diving. He knew that I always have wanted to do it. What a surprise!! I know he is worried sick about what lays ahead for me/us and is making sure I can do some of the things that I have on…
