Dreams/Nightmares
Ok...so I've been a lurker lately. Things are going well for me. In January, CA125 was 13. However, for the past week, I've had nightmares every night, nightmares about the cancer returning. Last night, I dreamed that I was in the waiting room of the hospital and the nurse called my name. I couldn't hear her, so I called…

anyone have carboplatin and gemzar and how have you fared??
i have uterine cancer, upsc, and am usually on that site, but it was recommended that i ask on this site, since maybe a number of you have tried this combination. i will be having chemo for my first recurrence after almost one and half years, and am wondering what your experience on this combo was during chemo, and if it…

Response to Nancy591 re: Hives and Fragmin
I haven't been able to give myself the injection, I'm just really a chicken, so a member of my family gives it to me. We give it in the abdomen, but I do black and blue quite a bit, I guess mostly because I've been on blood thinners for well over a year now. I've even had to start using different areas for the injection. I…

Jayne Armstrong is gone
For those who followed the blog of Jane, shopping karma, she passed away this morning. Her husband wrote a lovely note. She was one special lady. http://shoppingkharma.blogspot.com/

Jayne Armstrong, may she rest in peace
Jayne passed away this morning - peacefully (thank God) - with her devfoted husband Jimmy at her side. Jayne was my hero. I am beyond sad, and frankly, I am scared. If it could get the best of Jayne, what chance do I have? Jayne's will to live was stronger than anyone's I have ever known. How cruel that I have plans to…

How much water during chemo?
I am on carbo/gem and had a problem last month with dehydration. I was told today I should be drinking 96 ounces of liquid. Is this correct? It seems like a lot. In the past, I have had to go in for extra bags of hydration. Thanks, Froggy

Way to go Platelets!
My platelets were down as low as 20(10 is transfusion) and a week after that they are at 405! So, I was able to get chemo today. They reduced the dosage a little to see if I wouldn't tank so much. 'Will be interesting. But, it's good news that I rebounded so quickly. Thanks for all the good wishes. Ginny

Not the news I wanted to hear: platinum resistant/more surgery needed
I was diagnosed with recurrent ovarian cancer back in November 2010, started 6 rounds of carbo/taxol (which put me in almost 1 year remission back in 2009). Along with the chemo I was on a research trial for morab. Found out last week that the numerous tumors in my abdomen are not shrinking (initially scans showed some…

What do I say when my daughter cries
What do I say when my daughter cries, says this is too much for her and her husband to bear and is scared to death that she will not be around for her three young children? I don't want to say the wrong things. Linda

Dear Nancy591 How are you doing on Fragmin
Hi Nancy, read your postings and was wondering how you were doing. How are you doing on the fragmin. I saw my oncologist last week and told him that I was having alot of difficulty with the Fragmin re: pain and bruising. He said he might change me to Lovenox, but that's still the same thing, injections in your stomach…

Response to cfont11 and asking for prayers please.....
Hello, My story is something similar to yours..... I went into the hospital in September with fluid around the lungs, bloating, and throwing up. To make a long story short, initially the plan was to do the total hysterectomy etc. to remove everything, and a temporary colostomy for a blockage. However, only the omentum…

My mom is scaring me
My mom has been doing so remarkedly well that I have actually been able to take a breath of fresh air. She has one chemo tx left as far as I know and her ca-125 has been dropping markedly ( last I heard it was 29). She has scheduled to return to work in April. So yesterday she tells me that she has not had an appetite for…

MOAb-003
Does any one know anything about MOAb-003 clinical trials? My wife has had a significant growth and several new lesions some of which are on her liver. She was in another clinical trail and it just didn't work. I think we are going to sign up for this new one but I just wondered if there was any data of results out there.…

New to discussion board
I am new to this board but have read most of the comments under Ovarian Cancer and under Long Term Effects of Treatment. I have found the comments to be inspiring and the information to be very helpful. I was diagnosed with stage 3C last june. I had intestinal troubles for several years and was told it was diverticulitis.…

My mom's good news
I have limited contact with all of you on the Discussion Board, but I think of you often. I want to let you know that my mom is still stable since her recurrance a year ago. Her CA125 has been between 1900 and 3500 since recurrance, but she is considered to have stable disease right now. She is on Doxil and Carbo and her…

A little humor....figured we could all use some
My friend Becca has a hernia. She posted about it recently on Face Book, and her hernia posted back (sort of). I thought you might all enjoy this totally spontaneous, unscripted give-and-take. Dear Hernia... Go away. Now. Kthxbai. Dear Beck, this is your hernia- I think you're hot, so I am going to stay awhile. But if you…

And More Good News For The Board
Good Morning, I had my check-up with the ob/gyn oncologist yesterday. CA-125 is 7, clean scan and good exam. I am 21 months out. Just trying to make it to the 2 year mark. I will still see him every 6 months for 5 years, have a blood draw every 3 months, and scan every 6 months. Oh, and a breast MRI every 6 months.…

set back for Angela
Haven't been here in a longtime. Busy with life as it is. Angela got thru all her chemo treatments. Her CA 125 has consistantly come down from over 5000 to now 26. It was 36 just after her last chemno in Dec, now 26. The problem is the CT scan show two lisions, one about two inches in size. The dr. says it is either scar…

Any suggestions for aches and pains?
I had my last chemo on 9/15/2010. I feel great but am experiencing the aches and pains I know so many of you are. They seem to be getting worse. I take Tylenol when I go to bed but wake up a lot during the night because I have to change positions in order to alleviate the pain. I even dream about the pain if it doesn't…

clinical trials
I read about so many people who try clinical trials and I am so undecided about trying one. I guess what the problem is that when doing a clinical trial, a person has to go for CT scans about every 2 months. My fear is not only the added radiation, but getting injected with the IV contrast, as eventually it could cause…

wigs
I have three wigs purchased from the American Cancer Society which I would like to give or donate to anyone needing one. I live in Orange County California and can mail them or bring them to you. More Vit C Info
This is cut and pasted from a US Dept of Health and Human Services publication. Although it's a bit dated, I thought it was interesting: Vitamin C Injections Slow Tumor Growth in Mice High-dose injections of vitamin C, also known as ascorbate or ascorbic acid, reduced tumor weight and growth rate by about 50 percent in…

Can it be ovarian cancer?
My mom's first oncologist have told us based on the biopsy that she has a breast cancer that has metastasized to her backbone where she had surgery 3 weeks ago to remove part of the tumor. The biopsy results of the tissues removed from her back revealed that she may have breast , lung or bone cancer. She went to see…

Has anyone's CA 125 fluctuated while on Avastin and Cytoxan?
I know CA 125 is not a reliable tumor marker test to begin with. I had it measured today after 3 full treatments of Avastin and Cytoxan. While it didn't go up much, it did rise a little, but is still well below the normal limit of 35. Has anyone else been on Avastin and Cytoxan (the oral pill) and had the CA 125 actually…
