Upcoming scans and bronchoscopy
We're still trying to figure out for sure what these lung nodules are. The needle biopsy in August was inconclusive, and landed me a week in the hospital with a pneumothroax. Liquid biopsy showed a genetic mutaion that, while consistent with RCC, was not also present in the initital tumor. Assumption is that it's likely…

Finally home
I was finally released from the hospital, yesterday, after having a partial hand assisted lapro as well as my gallbladder removed on the 22nd of November. It was not pleasant at all. While I was in the hospital I had trouble with my blood pressure being too low so I couldn't get the pain medicine I needed until that was…

PTH labs and blood pressure
Hi Everyone, I have an appointment with my nephrologist Thursday. Blood pressure has been rising in the past few months – she had been watching it since surgery 08/27/2016 (open partial nephrectomy on my solitary kidney) and it was doing all right but now is hitting 150s and 160s over 90s and 100s at times– yet other days…

The good and the bad of CT's
Well....if there is anything good that comes out of Ct scans, I guess I have to say they do find interesting diagnoses. After the first biggie surgery in 2006, they did find recurrences in nodes in both 2007 and 2008, and both were positive for mets of RCC. They caught the enlarging thyroid in about 2013 and the biopsy was…

Scared this time
In May 2012, as I was undergoing my retirement physical, after 22 years in the Army, the doctor found a large tumor on my right kidney by accident. I had no signs or symtoms of any major issues at all. About a week later, I was to undergo a partial nephrectomy on my right kidney. When they went in, they decided to remove…

Insurance Help?
After hours of being referred back and forth between my physician's office, the hospital and my insurance company, I am no closer to understanding how much I will need to pay for my laparoscopic robotic nephrectomy that has a 50/50 chance of being a radical nephrectomy that is scheduled to occur on January 12. I know I…

Pathology Back - Cystic Nephroma
Hi, well I guess I am going to have to find another group to join. My surgeon rang today to say it was a Cystic Nephroma - rare benign tumour - still had to come out - follow up will be much simpler. This has coincided with me having a terrifc day health wise, feel almost like my old self, all the swelling and pain seems…

New Caregiver and I'm Scared
Hi, My husband was diagnosed with kidney cancer on November 15th. The good news is it is small and they caught it very early. However, I am 54 years old and I have lost numerous friends and family over the years to cancer and this is scaring me badly! The other thing is I recently went back to school to get my Music degree…

Appetite Changes
Hi all! Did anyone have a change in appetite since having a full nephrectomy? I am 2.5 wks out and still have nausea at times. I also cannot eat as much as I used to and can only seem to handle light foods most of the time (soup etc.). I know things take time and I am no longer in a hurry lol. I see now why my dr signed me…

Hi, Let this message serve as a presentation and to apologize if my english is not so good. My father was diagnosed with a RCC back in 2012. Surgery date for husband’s new cancer
Dec 18 will be the big day. Small bowel resection for a 3.5 x 3 stromal tumor. The surgeon wants to also remove his appendix for a related reason but only as a precaution. Using this site on an iPhone is enough to drive me insane, so I’ll update more as we move forward. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone celebrating

New lung nodules
I have been NED for the past 4 years and had been doing every months, then 6 months, and then annually. I was hopefully to stop scans and possibly appointments in January. I had a chest x ray last week ordered by rheumatologist due to coughing and thought my RA meds were causing inflammation and the chest x ray found a 9mm…

Feeling unprepared
Surgery scheduled for the 27th-feeling so unprepared. Will I be able to be home alone once I'm discharged? What were you able to do for yourself right away? I'm such an independent person and would rather be doing for others-I think this is going to be tuff. What foods should I have in the house that might be tolerable…

Count me in.
Well, just wanted to say hello and thanks. Been watching the board for a while to gain info. Beginning of Sept, I had a pain in my right side. Went to my GP and they sent me for an ultrasound. They saw something on my right kidney. Doc called and said it was an AML. Then said it wasn't super clear and to get a CT done. Had…
