Santa Craig, This One's for You
As we were sitting down for Thanksgiving dinner, my husband said it was too quiet and he asked me to put on some Christmas music. Can everyone guess where I'm going with this? The first CD I grabbed was the one Santa Craig compiled and sent out several years ago! Craig, I just want you to know how thankful we are for you.…

Happy Thanksgiving Everone!
Mixed feelings this year. Could live without this illness, but once I have it I'm thankful that there are people, medicine and technology that hopefully can help us. I started folfox last Monday so I feel pretty crapy, mainly with this really bad taste in my mouth that nothing seems to take away and with all this yummie…

Experiences please!
I'm somewhat new here. My father on law was diagnosed with stage 4 cc with mets to liver and peritoneum. The surgeon explained after colon resection that it was like a bomb went off inside him sending cancer seeds everywhere. At the time of diagnosis his cea was 45. After 4 weeks of healing at home he went to md anderson.…

5 Years ago today
It was five years ago today that I've received the devestating news. Thanksgiving is a bitter/sweet memory for me as I'm thinking that the day before was a mixed emotion because they told me I'd have to wait until the following Monday for results and then having to go through Thanksgiving dinner (which was at my house) and…

Radiation Fibrosis
Guess thats what I've got. Spent half a day at the Doctors getting my poorly rear-end looked at. My butt is one big sore and the natal cleft has a huge fissure. Its not a happy bum for sure. Doc gave me some cream for the haemorrhoids (which he says are impressive), Witch Hazel for the tear, and oh, the Thush (mouth) is…

I HAVE SOME WONDERFUL NEWS!!!!!
my brother was released from the hospital and is now home. He's feeling much better. I don't think he'll be well enough to come to our house for Thanksgiving dinner, so I'll pack up some food and bring it there for him and dad. He will have a visiting nurse come to check on him and he has an appointment with his oncologist…

Happy Thanksgiving!!! 10 years NED
Hi everyone, 10 years ago I was on TPN - IV nutrition for my chemo induced diarrhea. I remember eating 2 bites of turkey and spending the afternoon in the bathroom and crying all at the same time while at my sister in laws for Thanksgiving. Now I am spending the day at my sons house tomorrow --his wife is due with their…

Those gone
I don't post much anymore. My husband has the cancer. I can see by what everyone goes thru that they mostly can't cure cancer. George is very active but our lives are consumed by Dr. Visits and treatments. The stress is so overwhelming. George tolerates the treatments well, but a remission would have to be a miracle. I…

Son in Law is Home
I've mentioned a couple times that my SIN has been in Afghanistan serving our country and just wanted to let you know that he has made it home safely today. My daughter and grandkids are just beside themselves. Our daughter and grandkids are going to make just a huge adjustment to him being home since he has been gone more…

Biopsy Tomorrow
Tomorrow, I will have an endometrial biopsy and D&C. Numbers are up and intermittent bleeding. Hopefully, nothing significant. Crazy but more concerned about this than I think I need to be. Once we have cancer, we tend to think every abnormality is cancer. Thanks for your prayers and good wishes. CM

Compensation, Survival, and Acceptance Modes
I spent 5 years in compensation mode with moderate to occasional good results from chemo always keeping my mets in check. On Sept 9 when my last PET scan indicated significant carcinometosis with reactivation of many of my liver lesions, the para-aortic lymph node, and new lesions in the peritoneum, omental fat, and a…

2 years!
This week is my two year anniversary of this, my second cancer battle. It has been a better year this year than last, and my head is more focused on life and what's important, rather than being disappointed, mad and ungrateful. This year, my mind has settled in on all the good things in this life and all the good people…

4 doses of Stivarga (regorafenib) ended up in the hospital
My husband Pat started Stivarga (regorafenib) on 11/17 and by 11/21 he was so ill that he ended up in the hospital on 11/22. Couldn't drink/eat, sleep, walk, and his whole body was in pain, especially his stomach. Even with all the chemos/treatments he has been on these last 2 plus years, nothing hit him as hard as this…

Thankful ...
Thankful … I have a lot to be thankful for this year. But after reading on here, I want to let everyone know that I am thankful that I have a wonderful doctor who cares more about the patient than the money. I trust my doctor along with his staff. They are willing to do research and keep finding possible solutions … they…

Happy Thanksgiving!
I just wanted to say thank you to each and every one of you for your support. I think I would have lost it if I didn't have all of you to come to after such long, miserable days trying to deal with everythings. You all mean so much to me! I keep praying for all of you, but most of all, I pray for a cure for this wretched…

Started thinking about Thanksgiving.
Still a few days away, but started thinking about Turkey Day earlier this year. Unlike according to the Mayan calendar my tough year turned out to be 2013. Even though I got my bad news in May, worked through some hard days with chemo and radiation and lost a few body parts I still have so much good left in my life plus…

Trouble Swallowing During Chemo
I've only had two FOLFOX treatments so far (ten more to go!), and this week I've noticed a new side effect to contend with. At least I THINK it's a side effect since it wasn't one of the things I was warned about. I'm having a weird time swallowing. It's not that I can't. It's not that it hurts. It just sort of feels like…

Denial or just surviving
Since my husband has been in the hospital with one broken femur and one with a hair line fracture, it seems everyone is working very hard to get him to accept his crappy reality and outcome. He was so upset on the second day after surgery ...insisting that we needed to talk about finances etc. I finally said ok lets talk…

Update after Laparoscopic LAR
Hi everyone, It's been a while since I posted anything. I just had Lapraroscopic Low Anterior Resection (LAR), I think that's what its called on November 13th. I had a tumor in the lower portion of my rectum. The surgery was to remove my rectum just above the spinter muscles and attach my colon to the lower portion where…

CLEAR SCAN AND BLOODS. SO FAR SO GOOD
Hi All. My husband had a ct scan of the chest, abdo and pelvis and cea and appropiate blood tests. There was no evidence of metastases and cea marker was the same as previous readings. This is his second clear scan and he has had one clear colonoscopy, so we are heading in the right direction. THANK GOD He has occasional…

gut bacteria
just an fyi Dr Giorgio Trinchieri, who was involved in the NCI study, said: "These findings raise the possibility that the frequent use of antibiotics during a patient's lifetime or to treat infections related to cancer and its side-effects may affect the success of anti-cancer therapy." Dr Kat Arney, Science…
