Well folks the day is approching quickly now. After 5 weeks of chemo and rad, and 5 weeks of "cool down" I am set to go into surgery to remove my shrunken uninvited guest. So far the plan is laparoscopic surgery, but as with all else," that depends". no pun intended, I can't wait to put this situation behind me. I'd be…

Cancer is not a disease it's a survival mechanism
I've just started reading this book and it's basically implying that chemo is killing thousands of people more so then the cancer itself. Anyone else read this book? I will continue reading on but already signals are coming in strong...maybe a compromised immune system is not such a good idea.

Naturally, I am over 5500 miles away, so all of my conversations start with 'so, what time is it there?'. And yesterday was the day that I got the…

darn rising CEA
Hi, My CEA, which has always been very reliable for me, has been playing the up and down game lately. I know some up and down is normal, but when it's already so elevated, it definitely makes me worried when it goes up. Mine gets checked every 3 weeks, with the start of each 3 wk cycle. Three times ago (after stopping…

Been a while
Hi everyone Just felt like I should check in - it's been a while! For those of you that don't know, my husband was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in December 2008 at 34 years old (I was 27 at the time). We decided to, despite everything, try and get pregnant before he started chemo and were successful right away!…

I could really use some advice. I was dx'd in Oct 2007 with Stage IV cc with mets to my ovaries. I had a hysterectomy, but no resection then because the colon cancer was a surprise. One month later I had a resection for an adenocarcinoma to my small bowel. I then did 6 months of Folfox w/Avastin and remained NED for…

It actually decreased when he took a month off of Chemo which may mean our alternatives are working. And Nov. was a rough month with LOW WBC,…
