I'm 50!
Not really trolling for birthday wishes, just enjoying the fact that I'm seeing 50! I sure didn't think I would be here when I was first diagnosed back in 2004! The time since has had its ups and downs, for sure, but I have been more blessed than anything! I think of the many great occasions I have been blessed to…

surgical removal for polyps
Hope somebody can give me some insight as to why a polyp has to be surgically removed. I have read that most polyp that need surgical removal already have cancer in them. THis is not me but a family member.. Thanks Petrina

They did not kill me
Hey guys. They gave me too much to put me out for surgery. Put the part that says breath asleep. That was a fun few days. Ended up with a temp Illeo bag. It's not that bad. Did dump it on me the very first day. That was a nasty mess. I am going home or taking hostages today. Convinstanced the doc my problem was lack of…

Allow me to sweat a little of the Small Stuff
This is so insignificant compared to what some of us are going through right now--I mean, really insignificant. But here goes. just feeling bluesy lately and I think it may be related to the 1-year mark. Last year, in August '09, is when I first saw my GI doc who felt the tumor in my rectum. I remember sitting in an exam…

Had PET/CT scan- update: got results
Hi, I went in today (Mon, 8/30) and had my PET/CT scan. The last one was on 5/10/10 & that showed everything fairly stable since I started the Gemzar, Avastin, & Xeloda in mid March. My CEA count has steadily been coming down from around 100 to 38 until 2 weeks ago, when it went up to 81. It went up over 4 weeks & I had a…

NED for three years - how about those of you who are NED for longer
I noticed when I was a newbie that there were not a lot of people posting who were NED for more than 1 or two years. There were some notable exceptions. I am now apparently someone who is also not posting much anymore. I think it might be helpful for those of us who are 2, 3 , 4 and more out of treatment to check in from…

Tumor Board FINALLY, Standford next
So this is how it was explained to me. Hmmmm, hard to explain. At the tumor board meeting, everyone agrees I should have surgery, it's the explaining the surgery apparently to insurance, etc., that could be problem. As they all agree that someone with "the many masses" as the onc put it, that I HAD, cannot have them…

I am having chemo type cramps and the Levsin is working but only for two hours. They started yesterday but are here today with a vengence. Anybody out there experience this during their recovery? something weird about me
I rode my 4 wheeler this morning with some friends up a mountain trail. When we got to the top, some folks started leaning over the ledge looking down. They invited me to join them and I declined. I simply can't do it. I've encountered this situation dozens of times in my life. They ask if I was afraid and I told them no,…

WHAT TO DO, WHAT TO SAY
My husband saw me very depressed when Donna passed away and then when he heard about David, he said to me, you know maybe you need to take a break for the forum, it can't be good for you to be depressed. I told him that I wasn't depressed, I was mad! Mad that this dang cancer takes people away when they are not ready to…

Thanks but....
I appreciate all you guys complimenting me on my looks. The truth is, and I know, I'm incredibly goofy looking. The abraxane has me swelled up like a tick, especially in my face and already large head. Not having hair makes it worse, plus my color is way off. I really am cool with it. I would prefer you guys ridicule me.…

Nueropathy
Hi everyone. I'm not sure I mentioned previously that I have started seeing a Chiropractor about my nueropathy. Today, in support of many friends, I walked in the Breast Cancer Stride for Life walk here in our local park. Tonite I am really questioning the good sense of that walk for me! I have been having really intense…

Thank you
Hi everyone. Mom and I just wanted to say thank you for all of the advice and tips. We were just blown away by the responses. Again, this is all new to us and we were feeling alone for a while. We were both crying after reading your emails. Mom was like, "oh my gosh, so many people understand". It truly helped her and for…

Not cancer related but just sad and angry this week....
This week has been a hard one. Four families have lost their loved ones close to our family. Two by suicide and two that died in a rollover. The two by suicide were my kids age. One was a mother who left her 7 year old daughter to find her hanging. The other was a dad who shot himself in his garage. The two that died in a…

I was dianosed in 08 with stage 4 colorectal cancer I just started my second round of chemo which consists of erbitux and camptosar. Recently a c-scan showed fluid build up in my abdomen and I'm having it removed tomorrow. I'm told this entails an ultra-sound and a long needle. Sounds painful!! Can anyone tell me their…
