It showed increase in size and number of lung nodules and everything else was stable. My Onc was out last week. He talked to the PA and she said that I would be starting Folfori . My Onc wanted to see me on…

Just because I look good
Just because I look good, doesn't mean I am back to 100%. Just because my last chemo was in August doesn't mean I am not tired. Just because my ileostomy reversal was in September doesn't mean I don't still have issues. I may look like I am fine, but I am still tired. People need to understand that my body was cut up,…

Glutamine for chemo neuropathy?
Has anyone used Glutamine for post-chemo neuropathy (Folfox)? I was just advised to take 10 g twice a day, and was wondering if anyone has experience with this. I currently take Alpha Lipoic Acid and Vit. B6, but the neuropathy has flared again, such that walking is again painful. Thanks!

hernia following liver resection anyone?
Hi, Have any of you out there had an abdominal hernia or hernia of any type following surgery? The only surgery I've had was a liver resection two years ago. It's just been in the past two months, however, that I feel a weird twinge in my abdomen right under my liver surgery scar. The only time I feel this twinge is when…

The Reading Room: Link to CNN Article Describing a Condition Called "Anesthesia Awareness"
Here is a link to this CNN article on a topic called "Anesthesia Awareness." It describes one woman's experience with waking up during surgery but being paralyzed by the anesthesia to do anything about it. On my very 1st colonoscopy, I too, woke up during the procedure. I lifted my head up, and saw this big red looking…

15 months
Just got results from my 15 month scan last Monday. Bloodwork getting better (liver enzymes) and my scan was clear. My oncologist said that 2 years was a good marker so I look forward to that (hopefully clean scan) but that 14 months was the median for those that recur in the first 2 years. So, I keep taking one day at a…

Hello again....scanaxiety here!
Hi everyone! I just wnated to check in and let you know that even though I have not posted much, I read about what is going on with everyone. It has saddened me quite a bit of the amount of people that have lost this battle to cancer on here. Therefore, because of that, I have been putting extra energy into living life day…

Jim is home from Loyola, thank you, thank you
Jim came home from having his liver surgery yesterday after several minor set-backs and is recovering at home. Before he left his surgeon looked him in the eye and said, "you are cancer free." We will do mop up chemo after he recovers fully from surgery, but cancer free? Really? Can they say that? I am cautiously overjoyed…

Last night was wonderful! There were so many people at the Relay for Life here. I was very proud to be able to help carry the survivor banner when we did our lap. Relay For Life
What a wonderful day. Our daughter works for Delta and they had their own booth at the event. I was signed up as a walker from 11:00 to 12:00 but my stamina was so good I walked until 1:30. I have never been so energized and felt like I was really helping out for such a good cause until today. I bought several colon cancer…

Three is a charm? Going to start 3rd clinical trial
After a good 4 month run on my 2nd clinical trial, the recent CT scan shows a mixed result. Most of the lung mets and lymph nodes are stable. Some of the liver mets did grow a little, some shrink a little. But my CEA shoot up a lot. So my onc think it is about time that I quit this trial and try something else. She has a…
