Well
. A ways to go to get to NED
Had my CT/Pet today and not the news I wanted but then again, I am still breathing and still smiling. Tumor load was maintained but no reduction with this round of chemo so far. With more time on the Xeloda, I may see some tumor reduction. They found a bunch of activity by my rectum that they were not overly concerned with…

Finished Chemo

But than I figured it out...and that was to go LIVE my LIFE! It will be a couple of weeks before I can have a reversal surgery...but I feel like…

Colonoscopy on Tuesday
Hi All, I haven't been around much for 2 reasons: 1. I am looking for a job and feeling too sorry for myself (it's embarrassing-the self-pity, not the unemployment) 2. The site is very slow for me and sometimes I have to leave before I can see that a reply is posted. I think I will contact the webmaster. Anyway, I have a…

Bloody Mucus discharge and Folfox
I started my Folfox treatment 9/14/07 and this morning (9/15/07) I have had some mucus discharge from the anal area that is mucus mixed with bright red blood. I had a temporary Ileostomy after my surgery for rectal cancer, and so I'm wondering if the discharge is related to the chemotherapy of not. I would love to hear…

Hi all. just when I thought...

Return from my journey to Zion
As much as I enjoyed Zion, I have found Mayo to be that much more. Mayo is an impressive facility. State of the art, comforting and most of all....human. At the end of the day, when you list all of the pros and cons, Cancer Treatment Centers of America did not offer more than Mayo has to offer. I was expecting a more…

My surgeon says the next step in treatment is a botox injection to temporarily paralyze the internal sphincter muscle. I am a fraid to try the…

older patient -lot of nausea
My mom is 82 yrs old and stage 4. Her onc is recommending Camptosar, but she is worried the side effects may be too much for her. The Xeloda and Oxaliplatin regime was very rough and had to be discontinued, tho it was keeping her CEA down. Tried Vectibix after that and it didn't work. She has been off all chemo for about a…

Great News-!!
The surgeon called my hubby today at work to tell him that the MRI/CT he had on Friday confirms that the liver mets have shrunk considerably and are very small and confined to one section, so he believes surgery is a go! Aparrantly there is an AARP Women's Auxiliary convention in town at the same time as the concert... Needless to say I am completely devistated. Distraught even... But, as Rick says... Sunday funny
As Ben Franklin said: In wine there is wisdom, in beer there is freedom, in water there is bacteria. In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 liter of water each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. coli) - bacteria…

Questions.....
I am starting chemo on Monday morning (Folfiri plus Avastin) I am nervous, but think I am ready for it. My onc. gave me prescriptions for anti nausea meds, and I have those, but nothing for diarrhea, if that should happen. I know that this cocktail can cause that. I am going to buy a few boxes of Immodium to have just in…

He just had his first colonoscopy since all this has happened. The…
