My Mom
Well things have really taken a bad turn here for my mom. Her 4 treatments of folfiri did not affect the cancer and it kept growing. The folfiri also made her very sick and weak. Her liver is now enlarged and she is jaundiced. Are we at the point of no return here?? Please give me any honest opinions good or bad based on…

chemo success?
Last year I had surgery for colon cancer. They cut out 14" of my colon and felt that they had caught it early enough. 4 months ago my CEA levels started to rise and a CT PET scan revealed that I now have stage 4 colon cancer, a tumor in my liver and "spots" in my liver and lung. I'm taking 4 sessions of chemo every other…

Lord, I've never come this way before, I need Thy word my courage to restore, I need Thy…

1st day after CPT-11 + Erbitux
I just started my new treatment yesterday. CPT-11 + Erbutix. It wasn't so bad, but today I feel worse than yesterday. Frequent hiccups, gas, diarrhea (mildly burning sensation), profound lack of appetitie and a slight nauseous feel, lots of fatigue, but no rash that people had warned me about. I have heard that the rash…

Cancer is back.
Hi all, I was on this website Back in 2004 shortly after having a sigmoid re-section but fell by the wayside as life began to get back to normal. Or so I thought. This past week I found out my cancer is back at the point of resection along with 2 more tumors in the fatty tissue surrounding. I was given rotten odds by my…

neck pain was abscess on spine
Hi all My husband (dx rectal cancer 2002 - mets to lungs/liver - on Erbitux and Xeloda) had neck pain for four or five days that became increasingly severe. He was completely ambulatory and self-sufficient on Tuesday. He saw his Oncologist on Thursday and his blood work showed a high WBC. The Onc wanted to give him flagyl…

just a hello
Hi everyone. Just wanted to say hi. I haven't been on for a while. Got a job ( after 17 years) and it is taking over my computer time! If I could only get internet access in the store! And what time the job doesn't eat up, bugging my teenager about those college applications is taking up the rest. Wishing everyone here…

Needing some prayers
Hi all, Well, you will really not believe this. At least, I don't really yet. There was this bump on my head. Given the fact that I'm on erbitux and dealing with the rash, I figured (along with my mother and oncologist) that it was a sebaceous cyst. Anyways, we biopsied it and it turns out to be cancer. Yep, I have a scalp…

Ileostomy reversal delay decision
Hi again, Another question for those who have had an ileostomy. I'm going to post this question on Shaz's site as well as talk to my surgeon. I had my rectum removed on September 9th of this year and had a J-pouch created and temporary ileostomy. The surgery seemed to go well, but unfortunately I have been re-hospitalized…

Flu Shot while on Chemo
Hullo all : ) I need to ask my oncologist about this .... but am interested in any semi-colon's two cents. My aunt (who herself is a cancer survivor) has encouraged me to get a flu vaccination because I might be more susceptible to the flu due to being on chemo and having liver surgery (met removal) this winter. She thinks…

re: Constipation
Does anyone have any advice/comments about constipation as a side effect of radiation and/or chemo (Xeloda)? So much appreciated. My friend has been having chronic constipation from the cancer in general and now from the treatments. Does this side effect go away with shrinkage of the tumor? Thanks again! Kathryn

It has been quite a few months since visiting this board. I don't know what made me look this AM but I am so glad I did. I stopped coming here when I realized my soon to be ex-spouse and inlaws were monitoring this board planning to use everything I said against me. Well, now my attitude is, "GO AHEAD!" After battling this…

"Bass Ackwards"
Hello all... As you know, our type of cancer is dealt with, er, well, BACKWARDS! With that in mind, we have nailed down some details of the Paloozas to be held in 2006. The backwards part is that the latter trip is finalized, while the soonest one still needs "tweaking"! The first one, to be held sometime in April, will be…
