Could I Be Any More LUCKY???
In ER twice last weekend before they discovered that my EXTREME pain was due to stress fracture in left hip! Admitted overnight for pain control. But, being the trooper that I am (Hawk! Spit!) I pulled it together and had my first Herceptin treatment on Wednesday. Now awaiting for consult by onco man and bone man to decide…

From Her2 positive to negative
I started off triple positive, went through six rounds of TCHP then surgery- my surgical path report now shows me Her2 negative- thus I am being taken off Herceptin- has this happened to anyone else?

Mets looking to start chemo**TAXOTERE**
Howdy! I'm looking for input again and your experiences. Here's the short story: diagnosed with mets to liver and lymph nodes in September, started on a study program looking at the efficacy of 3 drugs together, have only had 2 treatments with fulvestrant, and am now looking to start to chemo. I've had an infection and…

stage 1, grade 2, opting for no chemo?
Okay. So I was diganosed with Stage 1, grade 2, BRCA+. I had a double mastectomy with reconstruction 5 weeks ago. Healing well. I was given option of chemo or no chemo. I had one doctor support a no chemo decision, based on a possible benefit of only 3%. The medical oncologist is recommending it. Who would do it based on…

Final Dx: Breast Mets to Pancreas
It is strange to be thrilled by this diagnosis, but the mood at my onc's office today was almost celebratory. I have to pass my Muga first, but then I start on kadcyla and my onc thinks I will do well. No more surgeries, I am healing and home, and there is a treatment for me. I am seriously ready to kick some cancer…

O.T. Mini get away
we snuck away (without our grandkids-who go on EVERY vacation with us) for 4 days camping in Vt...the leaves were super-great colors. We took a gondola up a ski lift and hiked to the top of Stowe Mtn. Sunny and windy dialy-poured when we got home to NYS-so we times it perfectly. Denise

failed reconstruction
Hello, My name is Nancy and I have had a total of 8 surgeries between both breasts. I have had a partial mastectomy, following a Double mastectomy with expanders put in, then removal of left side Expander because it didn't expand due to radiation and another one placed but failed again. I decided To do the Latissumus Dorsi…

Another Update and a Glimmer of Hope
Everyone's fear with my pancreatic mass has been that this is a new primary cancer. It is rare for breast cancer to metastasize to the pancreas. Primary pancreatic cancer has a poor prognosis (unless caught early) and is treated with higher doses of chemo. Today, I received an email result from the gastroenterology group…

Pre Calcifications (feedback & comments)
Hi All. Just had my yearly mammo & ultrasound done last Friday. The 3d mammo picked up some small precalcifications in my right breast. I heard the word micro. This was not there a year ago & the doctor said since it is not that close to the surgical scar, they want to have it biopsied especially with my history. Doctor…

Glowmore I agree with you
Glowmore, I do agree with you about Puffin. She is a great person for coming on discussion board and giving great advice. I am sure this is due to her education that she has in teaching medical students in nursing. She always details everything great and even if you are feeling bad she can put a smile on your face also.…

I am home!
A late and kind of crazy late night discharge last night - home at 9:30 PM. I am home on TPN/lipids/insulin - all via my port to strengthen me up for my upcoming battle. I see the onc on Thursday and my biopsy should be back then. I now have a fentanyl patch for pain that seems to be keeping me a bit more comfortable.…

Bad reconstruction, scared
Hi, I am new to this. I was diagnosed last Halloween and since then my life has been a total whirlwind. I was immediately taken to surgery, well it felt immediate, it was 12/4 for a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction. I started chemo in January, radiation the same week chemo finished, and am supposed to start taking…

Update
Well, I have been having a bit of a rough time. After the stent placements, I went the next am for a laprascopic biopsy. My gut did not take another procedure at all well. Lots of nausea, vomiting and pain. The surgeon finally went up (over recommended dosages) on my nausea meds and made me take them around the clock.…

whether to have a double or single mastectomy
Two week ago I was diagnosed with stage one ductal carcinoma. onc says its slow growing and HER neg. so no chemo is needed most likely. At first I was like ok lets have the dble mastectomy and lets get in done now. Now I've reconsidered. I heard you have no feeling in the breasts afterwards (luckily I will probably be able…

Oncotype Score
i was recently diagnosed with Stage 1, ER positive breast cancer. i was diagnosed in 2000 at age 39 with Stage 2 ER positive cancer and had a lumpectomy, chemo, and rads. This is now a new cancer, not a recurrence. I scored 29 on the oncotype scale, which is in the intermediate range, which is still a gray area for chemo.…

CANCER IS CURED ???????????
Hello Everyone, hope I can get some answers here, Why do ONCS tell their patients that they are cured from cancer and then put you on a hormonal, or AL drug to keep it from coming back. And then you have to keep going back so often for 5 years or more for test, I have heard that some ONCS are putting their patients that…

Done and Done
Got my port implanted yesterday and lived to tell the tale! Thank all of you for easing my fears about that procedure. I was cool as a cucumber (on the outside anyway). I will begin Herceptin infusions next week (think SWAT team against bone mets). Hugs everyone. Zah

My mom's final diagnosis after PET scan
As I posted previously, my mother, an active 80 year old, was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma of her right breast. She had a PET/CT done and we just got the report yesterday. At first we thought it was just in the right breast with one lymph node, but the scan revealed a mass in both of her lungs, albiet small,…

Two Stents - maybe even 3. I think they're on special!!!
Well, today my common bile duct stent gets prettied up and replaced. My small intestine is pinched so they are placing one, maybe two stents there. Anyone need one? I might be able to get you a real deal... Lol. I am hopeful that this helps my discomfort. In the meantime, I am waiting patiently (not) for biopsy results.…

Display our Strength in CHALK
As a 7-yr breast cancer survivor, I'd like to commemorate it by starting a new Fad. Chalk is cheap, & art is always nice, so... One thing that surprised me after my diagnosis was just HOW MANY Survivors are out & about- I'm surrounded by survivors, but had no idea, because people like to be stoic, & forget the past. Most…

Suggestions for Dealing with Leg/Foot Cramps
Probably it has been asked here before, but what do you who have increased leg/foot cramps do or take to alleviate the problem? I have heard magnesium -- if so, does anyone know a dosage? I have also heard tonic water. I have a feeling it is related to my taking tamoxifen. Been on that for two years now, and I think that…

Update - Concerned
Sooooo, I am hoping that I am wasting my time worrying about nothing but...about a year ago my oncologist found me to be woefully anemic. My ferritin (back-up iron) levels were 3. So I had a colonoscopy and and endoscopy to try to find a bleed and nothing was found. My oncologist then gave me 5 iron infusions and sent me…
