Tamoxifen & putting on weight
It's been a real long time since I've posted here. As some of you know, I come back to the boards and read once in a while. Plus being a single mom and working full time doesn't leave me with much time. Anyway, I'm wondering what to do about being FAT! I have a whirlwind of things going on. I put on 20 lbs from chemo but…

Taxatere
I start treatment today but was not given a pretreatment do and don't list. I fear that drinking wine or taking vitamins up until yesterday could be a problem after I googled information. Anyone know?

Kids logic joke.
At the end of the day, a policeman parked his van in front of the station. As he was gathering his equipment, his dog started barking. The policeman looked up to see a puzzled looking little boy. "Is that a dog you have back there?" "Yes, it is," said the policeman. "What'd he do?"

Thanks for condolences for my dog
As those of you who are on Facebook know, we had our dear dog Bodhi euthanized yesterday. Your messages on here helped us to know that the time had come to end any suffering before he was in too much pain or before he lost control of his body. So I really want to thank all of you for your helpful words here and for all of…

Port out????
Please give me your opinion because I don't know what to do. As I had stated in a prior post my wbc is low (2.5) but dr. said my port could come out this month. I will be getting another blood test next week to check to see if wbc goes up at all. I'm worried about having the surgery, because of the risk of infection due to…

Vehicle Donation
I have a car that I would like to donate to a cancer related charity. Does anyone have any suggestions for such a charity? The American Cancer Society does not accept vehicle donations as of January 2011. Thanks for your help.

Saw radiologist today
and he said my skin had healed well. He told me to continue to massage the areas where my breasts used to be and use cream as it will help with the nerve ending twinges I get. I'm still a bit numb on the sides of my body where the sentinel nodes were removed. I see him again the end of November. I see onc next week.…

Support from Men
Ladies, The men in your lives are generally rooting for your successful recovery. If they are not, then they must be discarded like really tacky shoes. Sometimes this cheerleading is private. Men mostly have a hard time sharing their feelings. Please wait and listen for when they do share them with you. Some men will go…

Chiroprator - just wanted to share
I went to see a Chiropractor today. I had not been in years. My neck and between my shoulder blades were stiff, nothing serious but thought it would be good to enhance my overall sense of well-being and perhaps it might help my allergies (pollen). It was amazing!! There was physical relief and it has helped my allergies…

Calling all Northeast U.S. girls
Lili and I are looking into going to the Hershey Spa in Hershey, Pennsylvania sometime in October. Just need to get an estimate of who is interested in going. I am waiting to get the lodging prices for October. We were thinking about June, but the prices are more expensive then. I have spoke to the spa manager and told her…

Hi all, Just curious when you started tamoxifen. I finished chemo 2/1/11. Had lumpectomy on 3/2/11. I'm going for rad consult tomorrow and will probably start that next week. My oncologist has given me the prescription for tamoxifen already and said I can start as soon as I get it. I thought I would start it after the…

Sarcoid
Hi All. Got some good news on Monday...my sentinal node biopsy showed no spread to the lymph nodes...which is great news. But, this was strange to me since the reason I was diagnosed was due to an enlarged lymph node...it lead to an ultrasound, then biopsy...etc. So, I asked what about the lymph node to my surgeon. He said…

Did you have a gene assay/Oncotype DX ?
After about 10 months of only seeing a NP, I finally see the oncologist and one of the things I asked was if there was an Oncotype DX or other gene assay done. He very arrogantly told me no. When I inquired as to why not he said, and I quote: "Because we already know how to treat cancer." I think I was more stunned by his…
