It's been 3 years since my treatment and I STILL ITCH
It will be three years in May when my radiation treatments ended. My nipple area STILL itches something awful! My radiation oncologist recommended Aquaphor and also recommended the Aveeno with oatmeal. Both work for short periods of time. I also drink plenty of water. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Mom with Breast Mets- Treatment in Pill form?
My mom has mets to her bones really bad. She was just dx Dec. 1, 2010. The doc has said she has less then one year to live without treatment. It's a long story but for the last 2 years my mom has had 2 surgeries and 4 chemo treatments and lots of complications that kept her in the hospital and rehab for 172 days. She has…

nipple reconstruction
My new nipple is dying. My plastic surgeon came into the room today and said "That's not the happiest nipple I've ever seen." I had the graft a week ago, and he pointed out the tissue that's already dead....I was so disappointed. I cried on the way back to work, and my husband offered to call my office and tell them I…

Despite my protests onc wrote script for Arimidex
I woke up this morning with swollen eyes, hands and feet. Went to onc this afternoon and he said to call my pcp. Yesterday rheumatologist sent me for ultrasound on leg veins to make sure it wasn't vascular and caused by a blood clot. Anyways, onc said that Arimidex is more effective than Tamoxifen and that I should do…

Tee hee on me! To decrepit to excercise!
So, I caught an episode of The Doctors (not the one with Nick & Althea!) and they had a Shake Weight on it. I'm always leary of the 'As seen on TV' stuff, but this was being touted as an okay thing. Hey, I think, that looks easy. First you have to grasp the stupid thing - have I ever mentioned the arthritis in my thumbs?…

I have a date.
I finally have a confirmed date for my bilateral mastectomy. Jan 14th is the big day, but I won't know what time until the day before. That makes it hard to plan for the kids...argggh. But it is one big step on this journey that will be done soon! And the really good news...my parents wanted to come visit. I talked them…

bad day and no chemo
I saw a post wanting to know how I am, so here goes. I went to the doctor expecting to get chemo but that did not happen. I have been in pain for over a week now, so i told the doctor today and he did feel that my liver is swollen, so he wants to do a ct and pet scan before he gives me chemo again, so no chemo today. He…

Neurontin
Has anyone had a Dr. prescribe Neurontin for pain? I started having non-stop joint pain shortly after I finished chemo in early 2009. I finally sought out a Rheumatologist, who has helped a lot. Saw them today and told them that I am waking at night (don't sleep well anyway) and that I ache and hurt. So, they prescribed…

For those of you that have had a hysterectomy
My oncologist has never said I need to have one but because of the fact that I had Invasive Lobular Carcinoma I discussed having a hysterectomy today with an ob/gyn at the Naval Hospital, he said "yes" I can have it done. My oncologist has never mentioned that if and when ILC comes back it will find it's way to the nether…

This site, internet speed
Is anyone else noticing that this website is being really slow on responding or loading? I click to get a new page or thread, and it says loading for way too long. Sometimes I've just canceled. I'm not having that problem on other websites all over the place, they are normal and fast, I have high speed internet. Is it just…

Insurance
Hi Ladies, I just have a quick question about scans and insurance. My insurance rejected my oncs request for a PET. I kinda understand that denial. I finished chemo July 16th. Today the oncs office called and said my insurance would only pay for a chest XRay. The said there isn't a basis for any other scans. I know I can…

Post surgery camisole
My BS has given me a prescription for 2 post surgery camisoles, She has said they will help with drain management and to hold dressings in place. I believe I have to take them to the shop at Dana Farber and they will bill my insurance for the cost. Has anyone used these camisoles? Did you find it useful or would you…

I thought that I would share a story that brought a big smile to my face. Most of you know that I have been making fleece blankets (Operation Warm Fuzzies) for chemo patients at my local hospital (given out in December). A good friend of mine was at the infusion center right before Christmas for an iron infusion. She…

Looking for a way to give back? Check out this page on ACSCAN/CSN.....
I am a member of a group in ACS called the Cancer Action Network. Every so often, when there is a piece of legislation ACS is interested in that is up for a vote, I receive an e-mail that alerts me of it, and asks me to send a message to my representatives in the government as to how I feel. Included is a form that I can…

Going to switch from Arimidex to Tamoxifen
Saw onco today. My GP, rheumatologist and onco all decided that I need to switch from Arimidex to Tamoxifen due to osteoporosis and constant, intense pain in back and many joints. I've been on Arimidex for 17 months of torture. So the doc thinks that Tamox will prevent my need for osteoporosis meds, which cause additional…

Not feeling good today
I have just been out of sorts all day long. It doesn't help that I didn't sleep well last night, then I went to work today. I had my 2nd chemo on Thursday of last week, so I really thought that I would be feeling good today. I hope I wake up feeling better tomorrow.

Muscle Girls... what's your opinions on microwaves.
The topic of microwaves came up in conversation the other day. Do you use them or not. I would like to hear what you think. I plan to ask my doctor about it, but wouldn't mind hearing your sage advice, too. Take care, God bless. BL

Adriamycin,Cytoxan, Taxol Treatment to begin next week
Hello all: As others, within a short period of time, I've had a few issues with this world wind we are going through. Today, I received additional info about the large mass on the one ovary I still have. It must be removed - the big question was will it be before or after chemo. The gyne onc doesn't think it's malignant,…
