Moffitt Cancer Center
I just want to say that I had a very inspiring day at our FACTORS program presented by the Women's Oncology Center at Moffitt. This was my 2nd year, and I came away with increased knowledge, inspiration and hope for our future with improved or new treatment information. Just to sit at the conference with 500 or so with…

I am still here.
I have been reading the boards almost everyday but just couldn't bring myself to post anything. I am so saddened by all of the bad news posted by the sister's that I have come to care about. I just don't know what to say. Please know that you are all always in my thoughts and prayers and that I have not forgotten any of…

Ideas for 'stuff' to take to Women's Retreat?
In Nov., I'm going to a 3 day Women's Rereat. I've been to quite a few there but not in the last couple of years. Everybody always decorates a 'mail bag' (small paper bag) and hangs it on the wall. In past years, I've always taken something small for each and always written a short personal note to each (this was before…

Let's bring some perspective to the Board
I was REALLY (Yes I know it's in caps) disappointed about the thread on health care. Up until now, I really thought any person can come here, post their thoughts and start a discussion. A discussion that stimulates thinking and reveals other viewpoints than your own. And it is a given that not all can agree on everything,…

So will there be swelling or shrinking with rads?
I still have some swelling from my lumpectomy, now starting with the rads on Monday will I see more? I was thinking with a lumpectomy and radiation I would end up with a smaller breast but not so far, it's bigger then ever. I was already sort of lopsided, way before breast cancer came along. Now what will the end result…

Lymphedema still not under control
The lymph specialist finally decided I would have to have the wrap therapy to move the fluid out of my arm. Well, after the 2nd day my fingers swelled up like little balloons and were extremely painful (had to take pain meds)!! After 5 days, my arm is normal size (Yeah) but hand and mostly fingers still retain fluid. So,…

COMING HOME
My wife will be coming home tomorrow, and we decided on hospice. Unfortunately Lesley's mental status is poor, so I had to make the decision based on what the ONC and RAD ONC recommended. Any treatment at this point would only create more suffering and would not extend her life much further. There was in fact 3 spots on…

Please just LET IT GO..Thanks
I think enough has been said and enough is still being said. Let it go!!! Please stop making new posts relating to what has been going on. We don't need that. For goodness sake, we are fighting for our lives, we don't need a discussion that got out of hand to keep being brought up over and over. Thank you!

New (to me) positive breast cancer website
A friend sent me the link below. I found the site really positive with lots of good (not necessarily new) information. Enjoy if you haven't been there. And, yes, they do sell stuff. http://www.breastcancerpartner.com/index.shtml Suzanne

Today I had my 24th radiation treatment, only 11 more to go, Starting to get real red and irritated in a couple of areas, armpit and bra line. Dr. gave me some tubes of Aquaphor and I've been using another lotion that's mostly aloe vera. Wondering if anyone else has had a problem with the throat area. It doesn't hurt, just…

I've not posted but still lurking
To all, I have not been posting replies lately and I will tell you the reason. I still have been lurking and reading. I thought I would still have to go through Herceptin treatment until the middle of November because my ejection fraction dropped again but when I met with my new oncologist she stated that my EF(ejection…

Femara and bloating/gas pain - side effect or coincidence??
I have been on Femara for 2 weeks this Sunday. First week was fine, but this past week my stomach has been so bloated/distended and there has been severe gas pain. Has anyone else experienced this, or is it just a coincidence? Thanks!

I hate this ride!!! And I want off---
So, call me stupid. I had a mammo today that followed a MRI that preceded a suspicious mammo last March. I guess the tech person thought she was being a sweetie, and she showed me where the density is gone. That's the good news! Bad news is.........what did my eyes see?? White sprinkles! Weren't there six weeks ago. They…

I am happy to be listing some good news right now. We can all use some. It has been a very stressful week and there has been some very sad, bad news on our board. I wish everyone was receiving good news and hope that things will improve for all on our board. Den and I returned from the cardiologist. While he does have some…

HARDEST
decision that I have to make. MRI results show 2 spots on Lesley's brain and cancer is in the spinal fluid. ONC says that treatment through the spine not even an option anymore, only radiation, but will only target the 2 areas that we can see. I have talked with my mother-in-law and we are going to the hospital after we…

Fast this weekend
This week has brought several threads that are less than 'great' - so I have decided to fast starting tomorrow morning - breaking my fast when I take Sacrament on Sunday. Anyone else want to join, in their own way? Susan
