suddenly quite tired and sleeping a lot
I wonder if I should worry about the past few days. I came home from work on Friday and at 5:00 I slept, with just one interruption--until 11AM the next day! Then Saturday after awaking at 11, I took a 2 hour nap at 3:00. Called it an early night and was sound asleep by 10. Today, more of the same. My mood seems fine. Has…

Soy
As you know, I have both breast and endometrial cancer, and they are both estrogen positive. I asked my oncologist last week about soy. She said there is a new study out that showed no difference from a double blind study of bc women and soy estrogens, and if I wanted soy sometimes, go for it. I don't eat a lot of soy…

Recurring breast cancer
Was decidedly unhappy when I went for my 4 year check up last week and found the breast cancer mets were in the middle of my chest. This began in 2006 and geez, I'd really like to have been done with it. So the second round will start shortly; chemo, surgery, radiation and the reconstruction if I want. I've had so many…

I finished chemo on August 12th and am scheduled to have my lumpectomy this coming Thursday. I am a little nervous since it is my first surgery. What should I expect pain wise? Is there anything that I should bring along with me or is there something that I should get to make the recovery a little easier for me?

General surgeon or surgical oncologist for lumpectomy?
i was just diagnosed with DCIS with a higly suspicious area for microinvasion. The only surgeons in my area are general. I would think that an oncologist would be able to do a better job...ie making sure they get a large enough area, but not too large...etc. Any recommendations?

Well, I just shaved my head over yesterday and it was an extremely traumatic experience. Since then I haven't wanted to leave my house and am finding that my wig makes my head roast!!…

Not sure what's wrong with me...
Okay, I have been feeling ill since Thursday night. Started w/a little bit of a sore throat - which may well have been caused by nothing more than typical chemo dry mouth. I woke up Friday w/a stuffy nose & a little worse sore throat. I have allergies, so a stuffy nose, slight cough, or even a low grade fever are not so…

Warning for women--not cancer related, though
My 59 year old SIL had a massive heart attack last Sunday and died. Never smoked, perfect body weight. She was a gastro RN and probably neglected herself there. Her son said she had terrible acid reflux for a month and was taking an over the counter med for it. Her son is a pharm rep and said that heavy month-long acid…

So I went to Trader Joe's today
So I went to Trader Joe's today. First time for me because I heard they had a lot of organic products/meats. Well, I was reading labels and was confused. Some chicken was fed corn and soy. Well I'm ER/PR+ and shouldn't have soy. Some meat was organic free range, but didn't specify if the grass it fed on was pesticide free.…

Jokes-for yesterday, today and this weekend.
HOW TO START A FIGHT One year, I decided to buy my mother-in-law a cemetery plot as a Christmas gift... The next year, I didn't buy her a gift. When she asked me why, I replied, "Well, you still haven't used the gift I bought you last year!" And that's how the fight started..... ______________________________ My wife and I…
