It looks as though we may have a virus on this site. The name ppeeac appears to respond to almost all the posts but when you read the post its gibberish. I sent an email to Greta advising her of this problem. Dot

How Not To Rob a Bank
Here are some easy lessons gleaned from the experiences of a number of would-be bank robbers. Pick The Right Bank: You don't want to make the same mistake as the fellow in Anaheim, CA, who tried to hold up a bank that was no longer in business and had no money. Study Your History: Don't try to stick up the First National…

osteonecrosis of the jaw
I have not posted for a long time, mostly because I have been doing well...until now. I had stage I breast cancer in 2008, but I had the BRCA 1 gene so I wanted to do everything possible to prevent a recurrence. I had a double mastectomy (one preventive and the other breast was cancerous) and decided to be in a clinical…

Good news:)
Hi friends, my doctor called this evening with my biosy results, benign!!! I immediately felt lighter. It was good to drop that heavy sack I had been carrying around the past week. She wants to do another MRI in 6 mos, but that is fine with me. Now I can enjoy the new school year with my new students. Thank God. Thank you…

Double Mastectomy Anniversary coming up...
9-9-09 has been so branded in my brain but somehow I looked down at my watch today and it dawned on my that it was this time a year ago when I was at my absolute lowest. I've come so far from that day but remembering how I felt brings it all back and my pinks have turned into the blues. Anyone feel this way on certain…

I am a Rad Grad!!
I did it!! I had my last treatment today and I am so excited! My tech's were all so sweet and kind I will miss them. That sounds strange probably, but you know how it goes I am sure. You see them everyday for 6 weeks or so and you get kinda attached. I will get over it though! To any of you just starting you CAN do it. It…

Chemo not working, results in.
I went to my new oncologoist today, i got the results to my Pet scan and Mris. The good news is that the cancer has not spread to my brain, which was our biggest fear. However, the chemo that i was on for the last 3 months was not working. The tumor in my liver is still very large, 11 cm., and i still have swollen lymph…

Something good comes from every experience (even breast cancer)!
My husband and I spent a long Labor Day Weekend visiting my sister in St. Paul, MN. We have had a somewhat rocky relationship over the years--we truly love each other, but somehow know how to push each other's buttons. We had a lot of baggage from growing up (alcoholic father, passive mother) and that has not helped.…

Hi, Everyone!
I just wanted to check in and say "Hi" to everyone again. I have been gone for a couple of months while I had rads. I chose to have it at a Cancer Center that was a little farther away so it took 2 hours a day to get there and get back (they were very efficient but the drive was about 40 minutes each way). Trying to keep…

Masectomy/reconstruction
I have just been advised to have a masectomy due to cancer cells showing around my lumpectomy. Now I am trying to deal with this and meet a plastic surgeon to discuss reconstruction. Any advice you can offer is appreciated. If I do not get reconstruction, what is out there to help me look fairly normal? ann

High Plains Relay for Life Summit in Dallas
Reading about the Texas Re-Union made me wonder if anyone else in the midwest will be attending the ACS Relay for Life Summit in Dallas later this month. I'll be there, and would like to meet up with any of the Sisters in Pink who might also attend. Sort of a mini re-union while we're educated on leading our local Relays!…

I hosted a party at my house, it is not about big C
We celebrated my new job and new place. I cooked for 8 people and it has been a great accomplishment for me. Hosting a party for the first time time since my diagnosis (June 2008) and treatments marks another step forward in my life. Even yesterday I was not sure that we can manage it. My husband helped a lot, we served…

Just wanted to introduce myself- DCIS dx
I’m afraid I’m unwittingly joining your club! After a long summer of almost weekly testing (mammo/ultrasound/MRI/core biopsy/MRI-guided vacuum biopsy, etc.) I was told I had atypical ductal hyperplasia. I knew I was already high risk due to strong family history and prior multiple cysts & atypia cells, so it wasn’t a…

tamoxifen rash???
I haven't posted in quite awhile ... but I still jump on and read the posts to try and keep up with how everyone is doing. But ... now it's my turn to ask for feed-back. For the newbies ... I had a lumpectomy, followed by taxol/herceptin ... then radiation ... and now I've been on tamoxifen for several months. I was…

I had a bilateral mastectomy last Friday. I was hoping for a better pathology report since I had already completed chemo. 3 positive nodes and 3 positive ducts. Right side was benign. Somebody mentioned to me once that they had to have chemo before and after surgery. Has anybody had that and why? I have a follow up on…

Short-course Radiation, has anyone completed the 3 week radiation treatment?
Hello! I'm hoping to connect with ladies who have experienced the short-course radiation. I have DCIS-0 stage, 7mm tumor removed via lumpectomy, Hormone positive. Great margins. I am to begin rx of 16 treatments on Wednesday, very nervous. They are 266 rads vs the 188 given in the 6 week treatment, so a few more rads and…

Update
I'm feeling much better. I have not been to the Dr. yet, but I will talk to him & maybe see him just to be safe. I am feeling almost normal, though, which is of course a relative term for us. I'm feeling typical chemo stuff like tiredness, but otherwise I'm okay. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts & prayers! I'll let you…
