CD1800 speciman data report
I recently had blood work done after 34 rounds of rads for DCIS. I had read somewhere before from this discussion group where you can go to get info. on what these initials stand for. This is first time for blood work since rads. My MPV is high along with sodium and potassium. I thought I would do research before I called…

Could this be neuropathy?
I finished my chemo Taxotare/Cytoxin on November 10th 2009 and I have started having numbness from both shoulders down to my fingers, mostly the thumb, index and middle fingers. They fall asleep and the elbows feel like I slammed the "funny bone". The pain you get for some time after. The whole hand feels like severe frost…

Neuropathy
I had a lumpectomy, followed by a lymph node disection in February 2009. I started 24 weeks of chemotheraphy in April, followed by 6 weeks of radiation, which ended in November 2009. I was given Taxol and experienced some inflamation in my nails during my treatments, but it wasn't until I was finished with chemo that I…

Femara/Letrozole
Have I figured it out right? Femara is the brand name and Letrozole is the generic? Saw Dr. T. on Thurs and he gave me a script for Femara which I turned in that afternoon to VA. I picked up the first 10 days of the script yesterday at Ft. Meade (rest will be mailed) and it doesn't say 'Femara' on it but rather says…

Stick-on Prosthesis
A while back I had posted something about a stick-on prosthesis that I ran across while browsing. I wasn't able to find it and finally gave up. I'm gonna be starting radiation and will be looking into reconstruction afterwards, so I don't think I will get this now but I thought I would share it with others here that might…

Cost of Radiation
Has anyone elected not to do radiation or only to do part of it because of cost? Up until now my insurance has paid for almost everything but it seems that they arent paying as much for radiation. At $1,000 out of pocket each time, 33 treatments...I will go bankrupt. Any suggestions?

I had an appointment with the RN yesterday to go over the chemo schedule, side effects etc and set the start date which is in exactly two weeks. I am doing 4 rounds of AC. However I was told that the oncologist had put in that I was to have the neulasta shot the day following chemo. I was quite surprised and the RN…

Did anyone choose a mastectomy over radiation?
Hi, I am weighing out the pro's and con's for both. I don't like that radiation can potentially give you a cancer. And for me it would be on my left side, too close to my heart for comfort. What are your thoughts on this? Ayse

mastectomy scars
I have a question about mastectomy scars. I feel kind of vain for asking. I mean---the cancer is gone----who cares about the scars!!!!??? But, I guess I do. What, if anything, are you using to minimize the scarring? I know they will never look the way they did. I'd just like to get rid of the angry looking red lines sooner…

Yesterday I had my drain tubes and all 75 staples removed and physically feeling tons better. I have been told that only the centinal node was…

Mad at sister-in-law & husband
This is kind of a rant and will probably be long so don't say you weren't warned!! I had a mast w/immediate tram flap recon. in Dec. have been home recovering since - start back to work 3/1. Update from blood transfusion
My red blood cell count did respond to the transfusion in a positive swing. My count last week was 8.3 and yesterday it was 9.1. We are going to keep checking it and if it dips again, will schedule another transfusion. Totally lost it and broke down in the drs office yesterday at chemo, though. Every new ache or twinge…

All wigs are not created equal!
I have a wig that was given to me by the CCI but it really doesn't fit good (as in not comfortable/uncomfortable) and when wearing it if there is even a breeze (or I walk too fast) it goes 'everywhere' and is obvious that it is a CHEAP wig. I'd worn it some when going out but not very often. BUT Monday, I had an appt. and…

Not a Pleasant Topic - Diarrhea - Radiation
This is not a pleasant subject but I have sporadic changes with stool throughout a week. Stool is absolutely normal, then changes to not being formed, then changes to a form of diarrhea. Other than that, I feel great. I asked radiation oncologist and she said that is not a side effect to the breast being radiated. I told…

Mouth Sores, Low WBC
Hi, everyone. So I went to Chemo on Wed and they said my white blood cell count was extremenly low, and I am to stay away from work and crowds. Neulasta is a possibility but they want to see if those counts bounce back on their own. Anyone else been "quarrantined" for this? (I'm on Herceptin, Carboplantin, Taxotere) Also,…
