3 month post-treatment NED!
Hi everyone! I'm three months post-treatment for my Stage II anal cancer. I had a PET earlier this week and yesterday received the NED results! I can't quite believe it, but I'm pretty darn happy to say the least. The internal exams were excruciating though. Ugh. Strictures and scar tissue to both the vagina and anal…

Oral HPV cancer following anal cancer treatment
I finished the usual chemoradio regime for Stage I anal cancer mid-April. Exams by radiologist and surgeon so far are good. But I showed a spot on my gum to my dentist and he's referred me to an oral surgeon for a biopsy of what the dentist described as a lesion. My oncologist says it sounds suspicious because HPV can…

It's always so good to see NED when someone reports on their latest scan. It didn't happen to me though. Sigh! I haven't gone over the results with my once yet. That will happen on next week. But I pulled down my results from the patient portal and saw for myself. Looks like Mets to lung. I have scheduled a visit today for…

Bowel Movements
So I'm 10 weeks post treatment and here's it is, my bowel movements are still "funny shaped" doctor says I'm still early in recovery and not to worry, ok they know best. I still take miralax & stool softener every night, doctors are ok with that but I think my colon shrunk from radiation! Anyone else have this issue?

Baths during Treatments
I was told by the radiotherapy nurse that I couldn't take baths during treatment, but I don't see any prohibition on some of the other cancer sites, including MSKCC's. I love taking baths and I would assume they would help relieve burning and itching if they were short. Does anyone have any information or experience, bad…

Does Chemo-Radiation Increase Chance of Fistula?
I don't currently have a fistula. Vaginal wall intact. Will be starting chemo-radiation in about 6 weeks. Does chemo-radiation increase the chance of developing a fistuala? Perhaps by further thinning/damaging the wall separating anal canal and vagina? That's where my tumor is located - front side of anal canal, invading…

How long into treatment before tumor starts shrinking?
With the 6-week chemo-radiation treatment, how many weeks into treatment does it take before the primary tumor begins to shrink? The most recent oncologist I saw told me that the tumor in anal canal would begin to shrink 1-2 weeks into treatment. Does that match what you experienced during treatment? Has anyone gone…
