My cancer is back :(
I've been having bloating recently so I had my CA125 taken and went to see my oncologist. My numbers are up from 122 to 1,467. It is so strange because I don't actually feel unwell and where I usually get fluid around my lungs they are currently clear. Anyway I will be having Topotecan. It is a weekly cycle where you have…

Hi again, Just want to check in on how you all are doing. I am happy to see that no drastic negativ changes has happened. It is hard for me as relative to follow…

Hi Everyone. I'm new to the site. My partner was diagnosed with colon cancer in february he is 40, he had a bowel obstruction and was rushed in for emergency surgery where they found some tumors in his bowel along with this peritoneal studding which they didn't remove. He has now had chemo every fortnight for the last 14…

Scan results on my brother...
Well, my mom got the results from Mike's ct scan on Friday - and they were wonderful! Cancer has shrunk, no spread, and fluid in cavity is nonexistant. On a side note, he did have an allergic reaction during the 3 hour push of his treatment yesterday, so they stopped it and gave him benadryl. He was able to finish the…

IBS

I have recently had an ultra-sound of my tummy and I have NO ascites yet I become bloated after every meal. I feel full and often get bloating in the evening. But during the day when I am moving…

Swelling...
I finished chemo in April this year. I have recently noticed that my knees are swollen, my knee joints really ache and I feel generally very "fluidy" but not in the tummy area. I'm thinking I'm in remission and feel well enough although I tire easily. Anyone else have or had similar episodes?

I just heard about it…

Prognosis..?
Hello.. My name is Marisa and I live in London. I found this site by accident but it looks like the only REAL way to get any information regarding PPC; everything else being Ovarian based! I was diagnosed in September last year with 111C PPC. I had 4 chemo's (usual blend!), surgery, then 2 more chemo's finishing in April.…

I've been having some discomfort in my tummy, kind of bloating after meals. My chest x-ray showed a small amount of fluid in the…

encouraging news
My 65 year young mom has been fighting stage IV PPC for over 2 years, in nearly non-stop chemo(she had one 3 month break). She was stable on various chemos over the past year or so. Once her cancer started to show progression, her chemo was changed to gemzar, cisplatin, and avastin. She has had 3 rounds, or 9 weeks of this…

Microscopic disease
I went to see my consultant today to see about my serous papillary primary peritoneal for the three month scan results. She said that I had microscopic cells which were spread throughout the abdomen. I already knew that from the laparoscopy I had in May. Unfortunately, nothing can be seen on the CT scan so the medical team…

Follow-up on the CA125?
Hi all, Mum had CA125 of 500 and after her first chemo it was down to 55. But she never heard anything again after round 2-5 about CA125. Is that not "standard procedure" to measure after each chemo? Should I talk to her doctor about it? Thank you, Sophie

Colostomy?
Have any of of you on the board had colostomy and trouble with obstruction/adhensions due to the "caking" of the "seeds" from PPC? Has it gone worse (i.e more caking, more surgery) or being better with time? Anyone being off the colostomy later in life? /Sophie

ascites or the CA125 test?
Nancy's surgeon at MSK told her she suspected peritoneal cancer after looking at the CT scan. The increase in the CA125 number from 35 to 51 gave her concern but it was the scan that I think convinced her. I suppose that means she saw ascites. But every thing I've read describe the symptoms of ascites as bloated belly from…

The anxiety of being off chemo
Its been just over 4 months since I finished my 2nd round of chemo for my PPC. I have enjoyed my hair growing back and the general feeling of being normal again as I am free from the treatment. However, like most people I do feel a little anxious whilst being free from chemo - I mean, the cancer has the freedom now to rise…

My girlfriend just was diagnosed with Peritoneal Cancer through a CT scan done at Memorial Sloan Kettering. Her CA 125 was 35 a month ago and 51 yesterday. About to stop chemo - how long do others go without treatment
Hi to all, Because Pet/CT scans showed nothing at all, my oncologist has said that I'm to have two more sessions of chemo - my last one next month - before stopping chemo and simply having my CA125 checked by him each 4 weeks after that. I believe that it is is common for those with peritoneal cancer not to stay off…

My mother was just diagnosed...
Greetings, all! What a relief it is to find this discussion board. I'm a college professor in Cincinnati, Ohio, and my mother was diagnosed with Stage IIIC PPC a few weeks ago.
