I have been following the posts about uterine cancer and have found comfort knowing that we don't need to feel alone in our journeys. Thank you! My name is Shari and here is…

Celebrating 5 years
I just wanted to share my good news with my teal sisters. I just had my last 6 month checkup with my wonderful gynocological/oncologist, as it's been 5 years since I finished treatment for uterine papillary serous carcinoma. I've got no lasting side effects and no sign of cancer at all. When I started treatment in 2011, I…

Newbie at this cancer thing and I hate it
Had my surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Sept 15, 2016. All went well, in fact, if it wasn't "clear cell" I might have gone home and never had to be a part of the cancer community, but here I am posting after just reading Editgirl's posting from Oct 1, very bad day. This Tuesday, Oct 18th will be my first chemo and I am…

Change in Eyesight
I finally went into the eye doctor last Thursday. During chemo my eyesight was all over the place. I remember the day I had my port removed - I could not even see good enough to sign the consent form. With or without my glasses, everything was a big blur. Then some mornings I would wake up and I could see every leaf on the…

question about Vit. D
Can a person take too much vituman D? Is it bad for any reason. When i went to my GP she told me to take 2000 mg of Vituman D and now that my results of my levels have come back(i cant remeber what they are right now and misplaced the paper i wrote it on ) she had uped my milagrams to 5000. that sounds like alot. Any input…

Shingles
Just curious about whether anyone has developed shingles while in treatment. I had shingles two years ago. In fact, I think it may have been a triggering factor in developing cancer; or at least the two things happened at around the same time because of some immune system issue. When I had my hysterectomy I started getting…

A little something
Well, two little somethings actually. My gyn/onc went over the PET scan with me. There are two "suspicious" areas in two lymph nodes, one para-aortic, the other just above my kidney. Neither of the nodes is enlarged, and the sizes of the suspicious areas are tiny..one is 7mm, the other 5mm. So the question is, what to do…

Hi, I am new here. I just finished chemo 3 weeks ago- yesterday was just labs instead of treatment- felt GREAT to know that!!! I see people saying they are NED- do they actually tell you that- if so, when? I see my gyn onc the 19th for my 1st physical exam after treatment. Will she tell me then? I have been waiting for the…

Anxiety
Anxiety is starting to build and getting scared over path report. I know everyone says to take it one day at a time but today seems to be getting away from me. The path report will be in soon and I am trying not to overthink it all but for some reason today just isn't a very good day for me. I seem to be getting around…

Update, back home after surgery.
Made it home after total abdominal hysterectomy on Friday. According to my fiance, my dr told him after the 5 1\2 hrs of surgery she got all the bad stuff out. Took uterus, cervix, fallopian tubes, ovaries, omentum, and lymph nodes. One lymph was pretty bad but the other wasn't. No problem getting lymph nodes out, which…

Hi Ladies! Have nothing monumental to share, just wanted to check in and say "Hi" and let you know I have finished my first cycle (3 weeks on, one week off) of Topotecan and start cycle #2 tomorrow. So far, so good. A few queasy moments. A little bone pain, but basically doing OK. I have been trying to "Let Go, Let God..."…

Back to a Second Surgery to Complete Staging
So, after much thought and getting opinions from various doctors, we've decided to go with the gyn/onc's (and the tumor board's) recommendation to complete my mom's staging by going for a second surgical procedure to remove para-aortic lymph nodes, the omentum, and the hypermetabolic fluid she's collected from the last…

question about uploading self-photo
I tried twice to upload a photo on my About Me page. Is there a secret or special formula for doing this? Does it take a while to upload to the site? It says I've been "saved", but still no picture. Does the image have to be exactly 150x150 pixels? Thanks in advance. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ~LL

Still Terrified
I go Wednesday for my post-op and 2nd pelvic wash results on Wednesday. Time is running out for me to accept or reject 28 days of EBRT. Part of my concern is that being diabetic now doubles my risk of developing pelvic radiation disease up to 5 years afterwards. I have a lot of trust in my gyn-onc, but let's face it: his…

I did my budget (that took brain power) I got my mind off cancer for a good couple of hours I went to the doctors and am now going to be taking calcium and vitiman D. Hi Everyone, If you have a few minutes for this and you are able, would you give me the following data on your cancer? day two after chemo...hydrating, and a question
Two days out of chemo and I'm doing quite well. As many of you previously advised, keeping well hydrated is a key component in getting through all these tests and treatments. It's really working for me! So, it's official, I'm a drinker!! I have water or juice with me at all times. My favorite chemo cocktail is half water,…

and now...enter breast cancer
On my last CT, the eagle eyes at Roswell in Buffalo, NY, discovered that "something looked different in my left breast". It has been known that I have PET scan activity "in the mammary chain from metastisized uterine cancer". But low and behold, this small mass was found right next to a uterine metz mass turns out to be a…

I have not logged in a couple of weeks. Just read through the new messages. Thought i'd give you an update on my mum's chemo also. She has had 2 chemo so far. Just carboplatin. It has been quite difficult 6 weeks so far. First chemo resulted in a clot near her heart so she was hospitalised. Her normal heart rate is very…

So Far, So Good
I saw my gyn/onc today, who poked and prodded everywhere he could poke and prod. He laughed when he said I am so slender that he can easily feel every lymph node in my groin area. He spent a little more time during the rectal but didn't feel anything unusual, and said my vagina looked good. Since we are close to 6 months…
