how many doxil infusions have you had???
After visiting the consultant today , he has said they only give 6 doxil treatments in the UK as there is no evidence that anymore is beneficial. I seem to recall someone posting on here that they had had about 18 doxil treatments? maybe I am wrong , but after he said it , I thought I don't care if it is just holding it at…

Happy days.
Welll after being told the chemo was failing, today we have been told that the ct scan shows no new growth!!!!! hooray , happy days. So the plan of action is for mum to have the doxil on thursday, as she was previously. However, the consultant did say that as her ascites had filled up after only a week, it could be a sign…

Just got home from the OVCA walk/run
I sooooo wish that each and every one of you could have been there today. They raised over $20,000 in pledges. This event is in it's third year and growing in leaps and bounds... we had over 600 runners and walkers. My ONC and most of his office ran. My family (ranging from 5 to 63) all made it over the finishline and…

Topotecan
Hello, I'm starting treatment with Topotecan tomorrow. My doctor said it's fairly easy to tolerate. If anyone has experience with this drug, I'd love to hear from you. Kind regards, Shiela

Last night I had a dream........
I was a boxer and a teacher. In the midst of a boxing match, my fellow teachers came to tell me about the state testing results. They told me, my kids needed me, because other people were giving up on them. Additionally, I had LONNNNNNNNG, luxurious dark brown hair in my dream, and I was kicking butt as a boxer! (But still…

I'm back.....
I took a little trip out of town with my daughter, for her birthday. It was kind of a last minute thing. We left on Tuesday and came back Friday. I'm tired, but glad we had the chance to make some memories. Today was my middle son's birthday, so I made a "from scratch" chocolate ganache cake and we had chicken and steak on…

Question for Julie (Surviving and Thriving) re; HIPEC surg last April
Hi Julie, I happened to read one of your posts from last april in which you said you were going to get the HIPEC treatment in mid April. I was thinking of looking into that also. Did you get the treatment? Did it work, and were you able to tolerate it? I'd be very interested to know anything about this treatment. Thanks.

I just had my first treatment of Carbo/Taxol on Tuesday. Now I'm SO sleepy..
How long does this last? I didn't get up this morning until 8:40 which is late for me. I told my sister I was still sleepy. She asked me why I didn't stay in bed longer. I told her that I was hungry :) Anyway, I went back to bed at 9:30 and slept until 1:00. I don't feel as weak as I did this morning. However, I feel…

Resveratrol (Japanese knotweed)
I think a few of the board members have spoken of taking resveratrol. There seems to be conflicting information about the phytoestrogen component of the stuff. One source (www.livestrong.com) seems to think that it is bad for estrogen-sensitive cancers while another reports that it may be helpful. Here's a link to the…

New Treatment Schedule Alimta/Carbo
It’s been quite some time since I’ve been here but thought I would put this out there since I don’t see a lot about this combination for OVCA but it is a popular drug for lung cancer. Here is a quick summary. I was dx on 8/2006 and only had 1 short remission for a few months 1 year after the initial surgery and chemo. I’ve…

Bindweed = natural anti-angiogenic treatment
I got a new book today (Defeat Cancer, by Connie Strasheim) & learned about bindweed used by Dr. Julian Kenyon in his integrative cancer clinic in London, England. The herb is available online in the US & is called VascuStatin. Here's the link to more info (I think it is expensive but nothing compared to the cost of…

Just need to vent
So it's my 3rd day post 6th chemo and I am achey and sore and in the middle of moving and I am tired. I try to stay positive but everything is pissing me off. I try to put on a front that I am okay because I don't want to burden any body, but I am finding it more difficult and I am trying to relax, but can't. Because I am…

Insurance refusing to approve my taking of Avistan.
Has anyone else had their refuse to cover a drug? My dr. had told me Tuesday that they were refusing to approve it, but he felt as though it would be approved by my second treatment on July 19. I had my first treatment Tues. of Taxol and Carbo. Thanks Ladies. Carla

2nd round of chemo
Hi All, I finished my second round of chemo on Wednesday of this week. It is kicking my butt. I am exhausted. I have to get woken up to eat and drink. I am working very little. I need to work as much as I can...financially there is no other option. Nausea levels are worse this go round...I did not think that was possible.…
