Recurrance with ascites and strange bowel movements!!!!
As you ladies may know my CA125 jumped from 71 to 1,280 the other weeks so I am to go back on chemo. My CT scan (take in Sept) shows little change since my treatment stopped in March this year. No ascites, all major organs, bones and lymph nodes clear. However I am finding it so hard to comprehend - this rise in numbers.…

scared and alone
I have gone to chat on here several times and read a lot of your posts on the forums, but I have never posted for some reason. Last September the doctor found a mass on my left ovary after an ultrasound for some freak thing that they never figured out. I was 33 at the time. I am going back in on Monday (Nov 1st) for an…

Niece just diagnosed - need information
My niece who is 28 went in to have a cyst removed from her ovary by keyhole surgery Friday before last. Once they were in there instead of removing the cyst they took tissue for a biopsy. She lives in England and I am here which is very frustrating as things seem to be moving so slowly. Her results didn't come back until…

white sores in the nose
Has anyone had white sores in their nose while on chemo? My mom is on carbo and doxil currently, but has been on some form on chemo for 16 out of the last 19 or so months. She thought it might be yeast, so they have given her some yeast pills, but is there any other remedy any of you know of for these sores? She has also…

Port is not working properly
I went in yesterday for my chemo infusion. I have had my power port for 3 years and never ever had a problem. In fact my drip is always a bit faster than they expect and sometimes they have to slow it down. Yesterday, they plugged me in as usual, and although the drip goes through, it is way too slow. But, when I stretch…

Crazy high cost of Doxil & Nuelasta !!
My hospital billed my insurance company $30,800 for a single round of Doxil; and $17,000 for the Nuelasta shot I got the next day. My insurance negotiated that down and paid $24,000 for that single Doxil infusion, and $14,000 for the Nuelasta shot. So, even with the negotiated discount, my insurance is paying my oncology…

I am hoping someday she will move into the hundreds and out of the thousands. Her new anti nausea pills also seem to be working although thye are making…

Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer Prognosis if surgery before chemo is not an option?
Hello there, I am new to this site. I feel blessed to have found it as we are seemingly running out of options. My mother-in-law has Stage 4 ovarian cancer. there we no signs of anything this past May, but in August her poor organs are covered. She is unable to have surgery due to some very severe past complications with a…

Dr Oz on ovca
Just watched new episode of Dr Oz on new developments in ovca research. Should be available on his website, www.droz.com. Most significant issue was that cancer cells may originate in fallopian tubes and then attach to ovary. Also explains how ovca can spread thruout abdomen so insidiously. Research was done @ U of…

Second surgery anyone?
Hi ladies, Mom had her initial surgery Sept 3rd and it was unsuccessful due to the location of the tumor. It was pretty well contained but it was too close to the blood supply to tell where the tumor started and the blood line ended. Today Mom had her fifth round of chemo. After four rounds her CA-125 number is 4,056 which…

I posted a while back about my grandma. She was diagnosed with PPC in Oct 2005. She started carbo and tax right away and lasted 3 1/2 years before her relapse. Then they did some rounds of carbo. She relapsed again 10 months later and they did 4 rounds of doxil. She relapsed again after only 2 months. She has decided to…

Chemotherapy Terms Chemotherapy encompasses a wide variety of therapy treatments. Fluid around lungs
When my mom was diagnosed with OC, it was found because of fluid building up around her lungs. She had chest tubes put in and has had to have them drained every day, then every two days, now every three days. Fluid slowed down a little but not very significant. Doctor told us that after the first infusion of chemo she…

Need help---my mom is having difficult adjustment back home
Hi everyone--- My mom moved discharged rehab on Tuesday to her home. I have been staying with her since. She thought that she would feel less anxious at home, but truthfully I think it is worse. She is so scared. We had problems with the wound vac from the start that sent her over the edge. The last two days she has had…
