He is talking of superfoods. The 5 top foods are: Bok choy. Eat it 3x week. I didn't get the serving amount. Cooked tomatoes. Eat 2-3cups 3x week…

Good news for Angela in Houstin
Angela flew to Anderson for a second opinion. She tested positive for the BRACA and the doctors gave her a very good chance for survival from her 3c ovarian cancer. They said everything was going in her favor. Her doctor at U.C. Davis trained at Anderson and knows the Dr. that she saw in Houstin. The two drs. have been…

Speed of Recurrance
Has anyone else's disease returned with the speed of lightning? My mother grew 5 spots in 3 weeks.....I know this is not good, just wondering if it's pretty normal or really bad......not that it matters since it is what it is....

Clinical Trials: any reason to NOT do one? (Phase 2 trial of XL147)
I know some of you have done Clinical Trials. I have until next Wednesday to decide if I want to participate in one at Fox Chase in Philadelphia. ( http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT01013324 ) I have a high grade recurrent endometrial cancer which is treated with the same drugs as ovarian cancer, but I think the drugs…

Concerned about meghan
Is anyone able to personally get in touch with Meghan or her dad? I've been watching her facebook posts lately and I'm very concerned about her! I've sent some supportive email and wall posts, but I doubt that it's enough. :( Leesa

My doctor's responses to questions about Taxol maintenance
Today was number 7 of my 12 Taxol maintenance infusions. I took the opportunity to ask my doctor some questions, regarding the protocol for this treatment. Does anyone ever have a recurrence on consolidated treatment? No Then why not just keep giving it? Several reasons for this. It's not considered "good medicine" to pump…

Update on my mother
OK, this may be long....the news is mixed. There has been progression in her cancer, BUT it isn't huge...here's where I see a blessing. Its just enough to place her into the PARP inhibitor part of the trial...which is what she wanted anyway. And I swear the growth is that close to the protocol to get her the Parp. My…

Cancer is so limited
Someone gave my mom this today in a beautiful frame. It made her feel better somehow and a little stronger too. I thought I would share it with you. Cancer is so limited. It cannot cripple love. It cannot shatter hope. It cannot corrode faith. It cannot destroy peace. It cannot kill friendships. It cannot suppress…

NED is in the House!
My wife has gone through her initial 3 rounds of taxol/carbo, had a successful surgery in June, and just completed her last three rounds of Taxol/Carbo. Her last three CA-125s have been a 2. She started with a 266 at diagnosis. Stage = 4. CT and X-Rays all came back negative. We are both doing the happy dance! Question,…

Would like get a hold of the spammer!
I am mad that someone had the audacity to break into our house and litter it with trashy solicitations for watches, handbags, etc. If you haven't noticed, they pulled up old posts and added a sales pitch at the end. I tried to flag each one and also notified the administrator. Hopefully, it will be resolved soon. I really…

Genetic Testing
I am wondering if anyone else has done the genetic testing. The day Mom was diagnosed the doctor talked to her about testing. After her first chemo the blood was drawn and has been sent off. My siblings and I are also going to do the testing. Fortunately, the Ontario government absorbs the five thousand dollar price tag,…

Weekly Taxol- Is it only for 12 weeks?
I am taking weekly Taxol with Bi-weekly Avastin. I had my Ca-125 taken last week and it is now at 80 (it was 380 9 weeks ago) I missed last week but will resume this week at dose number 10. My question is does the weekly dose end at 12 weeks like I have read in some cases or is it continued until your markers rise or dr.…

I'm holding on so tight, but I know my mom is still going to leave me :,(
There's no describing what my mother has endured the past two years. She was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer just six months after her beloved sister died from it (and their mother at age 35, I think we are cancer cursed.) Hysterectomy /debulking in March 08, followed by more complications and total weeks in the…

The Children
I have been reading the posts awhile and have responded a couple times. After reading Dorian's post I had to write this. I hear in the media all the time about how bad the kids of today are. Well, I know they could not possibly be talking about the kids whose parents have this awful diagnoses. I have watched the young ones…

hair loss with Avastin?
My mother (3c/4 Feb 09) received two infusions of carbo for recurrence, which made her hair thin a little but didn't make it fall out. Last week Avastin was added -- she got her first infusion of it, along with carbo #3 and a neulasta shot on Friday. Today she read that hair loss is on the list of side effects experienced…

Scary week
What a week. I am very sad. My dear buddy, my 11 year old lab/chow "Blue" died last night. We had been fighting cancer together and he finally lost his fight. What wonderful protector and friend he was. I know it may seem trivial with all of us fighting for our human lives, but I miss him. My 8 yr old son was heartbroken…

New to this.
I just wanted to say hello. I went to the doctor last Sunday for a cough and some swelling of the abdomen and some bowel troubles. I blamed it on summer stress moving my 82 year old mother and beginning a masters program. Turns out that after an xray showed fluid in my left lung, I was referred to have a CT scan. This…

Sometimes...
Sometimes I just feel like screaming. I just needed to share that. Nothing new is happening, I'm just caught in the limbo between chemo and checkups. I've gained 10 pounds and I can't rid myself of the fear that it's ascites. My husband refuses to acknowledge any possibility of recurrence EVER. And I just needed to scream.…

So very sad :(
My Mom had surgery yesterday. Unfortunately, the oncologist was only able to remove Mom's appendix and not the tumor. It was too big and the location interferred with her blood supply. My beautiful Mom has been given a lousy one year to 18 months to live. My Father wants a second opinion but I fear it won't make a spec of…

Clinical trial for vaccine
Hi everyone! I have been approached by my Drs office about participating in a clinical research trial for a vaccine for ovarian cancer! I evidently fit the criteria for the research at this time ( I am in remission & have had chemo in the last 2 mo.)...I don't know anything else about it at this time, as my oncology nurse…
