rcc or oncocytoma
Hello all, Around May of 2016, I began having some difficulties with my health and began exploring with my family dr a myriad of tests. At the time, I was being tested for endometrial cancer and that was negative but they found some irregularites with my blood not clotting properly. During this time, I have been feeling…

Four years after kidney removal.... it's baaaaaack...
Hi everyone. I had my left kidney removed, T1B, fuhrman grade of 3, about six cm, four years ago. (clear cell). I get regular scans for aortic stenosis and while the yearly chest xrays and abdominal ultrasounds were clear, a recent CT scan for the heart found two pulmonary nodes and some lymph nodes that were suspicious.…

Incisions
Hey there, so I am just wondering what kind of incisions everyone had with their nephroctomies? Personally, my tumor was almost 11 cm and they took the whole kidney with it and I have 4 small holes in my abdomen (that look like red dragonflies due to staples) and then a 4-5 inch line under my belly button. No reason I am…

ACA Repeal
Just wondering if anyone is worried about the repeal of the ACA by congress. I have insurance through my work and am fortunate to have it. But I was wondering how many people on this board or people with cancer in general will be affected by the potential loss of insurance or the removal of mandatory coverage for people…

Trying to stay heathy and just got over a bad bout with pnemonia. Lost 30 pounds last year as well as another 30 back in 2014. Lucky enough to have met…

Quick Update
I've not been here for several weeks so it's taking a long time to catch up with all the messges. I don't have any big news but thought it was time for an update. I've had a bone scan which showed no mets. I have also had the dreaded telescope (cystoscopy?) which was ok except for peeing razor blades for a couple of days.…

You can't do that! Or can you...?
One of the advantages to ending pain meds three days after surgery, my body is definitely more that willing to let me know if I shouldn't be doing something. I've attempted a very brief very simplified Tai Chi practice a few times since surgery. Nice. Yesterday, my brain and all of my body was really getting into the…

Desensitization for Scanxiety?
I had my surgery 12/13/2016. * First follow-up appointment was 12/19 to get the drain removed, staples out, and get the results of the pathology report. Oh, wait! The path report hasn't been done yet. We'll schedule a follow-up for 12/28 so you can go over the results with the doctor. * Oh, wait! The pathology report still…

Insurance Companies - AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH
So, on another thread I mentioned that I was going to have my first follow-up CT scan nice and early on Monday morning. Well, not so fast bucko. I got a call from Stanford at about 5PM today (Saturday), less than 48 hours before the CT scan, saying that unless I was willing to sign a document taking responsibility for the…

Breathlessness and extreme dizziness
I am 73 years old and I had my left kidney and a 7-centimeter tumour removed just four weeks ago. The tumour was found by accident in an ultra-sound scan on my prostate, so the whole thing was a major shock. To make matters worse, my heart level plunged through the floor as the surgeon was about to start the operation and…

Getting older
--------- An elderly couple had dinner at another couple's house, and after eating, the wives left the table and went into the kitchen. The two gentlemen were talking, and one said, 'Last night we went out to a new restaurant and it was really great. I would recommend it very highly.' The other man said, 'What is the name…

Feeling grateful
All week so far. Huge improvement for me, as I was so unhappy and feeling so much anger and self pity before. Anyway, today I am extremely grateful for the insurance plan my company provides my family. When we were on hubby's insurance, our deductible was 10,000 per person and then 10,000 co-insurance! And it cost us a…

Surgery and Subcutaneous Nodules
Surgery and Subcutaneous Nodules Unfortunately my Kidney Cancer continues to spread regardless to what I do. The good part, if it is good, with the exception of the subcutaneous nodules, it is not spreading fast. My question is has anyone been diagnosed with subcutaneous nodules that needed to be surgically removed. I have…

Needle Biopsy results in
Well, after finding evidence of "possible metastatic disease" on a routine MRI and then "multiple bone lesions consistent with metastatic disease" on a MRI Thoracic Spine Scan, and "findings concerning metastatic bone disease" by a Bone Scan, today I got back the results of the Needle Biopsy which show "no malignancy…

dang...another "dab of cancer" - can a squamous skin cancer be from a kidney cancer??
Hi all - I haven't been able to speak directly to my demotologist yet...and tomorrow I am due to leave the country for a new job...but their office called me to say a biopsy of a nagging blister / cut on my finger is Squamous Cell Cancer. I had a Stage 1A RCC 2.5 years ago with a full nephrectomy right side. Has anyone…

NED
I had a scan 2-3 weeks ago. Just wanted to pop in and say it was NED. I'm feeling pretty good about it. This is the first scan I've had in 4 years that I experienced very little scanxiety. When I had my followup, the oncologist didn't even see me this time. He had the PA see me. I'm not sure if I like that, but I decided…

Update on John
From 12/28: On 12/23 he had a new set of CT scans and then met with his ONC on Christmas Eve. After six or so infusions of Opdivo the news wasn't what we had hoped for. There are new lymph node mets in the paratracheal area and in the mid-chest near the aorta. Apparently this is a fairly common met site for RCC. Also the…

What has cancer taught you about yourself?
foxhd Posts: 2760 Joined: Oct 2011 Jan 02, 2017 - 4:51 pm Just continues to prove I wanted to open up a thought from a recent thread. At least as of today, we all know what NED means. But what else have we all learned? Newbies concerns and fears are different than us old timers. And so are stage 1's vs stage 4's. What…
