A guy at work just told me his wife has Squalamous cancer
What a trip!!! A guy at work brought a paper to me yesterday and asked me if I recognized anything. I did, she has a large mass on her mandibular (sp?) and it's Sqaualamous Cell. She originally went to the dentis thinking she was having problems with her wisdom tooth. Unfortunately, it was the tumor. Please keep his wife…

Husband and I went to ENT for the results of his biopsy last week. The doctor said " I don't have very good news" There is still cancer on his larynx. So my husband said So what do we do now? He said because my husband had a liver transplant and his immune system is so compromised that he probably would not be able for…

Friend's Mom
Hi all! Basketcase here. I had posted in the last few weeks about my friend Tamara's mom. She was diagnosed with some aggressive form of leukemia in April and chemo did not work so on May 26 was told she had days/weeks. Tamara has been a basketcase and there were issues with her sisters. Bluntly put Tamara was the one with…

Coughing up blood and sleeping too much
My husband has been sleeping non stop since saturday afternoon. I don't know what's up with my husband, but he seems to be sleeping all day and night. He may wake up every now and then and watch a little tv but his eyes just roll and he falls out. I know he was on methadone for awhile and that caused some of the…

New Cigarette warnings push the envelope
What dose everyone think of the new graphic warnings. Picture of diseased lungs, Person holding a cigarette up to hole in neck and smoking? I'm a bit surprised our government took such a pro-active stance after all the years of the lame warnings on the box. This will get your attention and I think it's a leading step in…

Two Year Post PET Scheduled
My Turn Coming Up for the Anxiety - PET is scheduled for July 6th, 8:30 AM.... It doesn't seem to matter, these things still give me anxiety. Not the tests themselves, the waiting of the results. Usually I have them make me a desk copy that I can pick up 24 hours later and a week before the follow-up with the MD. With all…

Inner ear loss and post-tx nausea/vomiting
I'm still new to posting here, I am CG to husband, surgery Feb 2011, finished chemo mid April and radiation Ap 29, parotid tumor with metas to earbone and 35 lymph nodes. The hardest part...
I found out today that the hardest part wasn't hearing the bad news, it was having to tell everyone that I love that my cancer is not only back in my left lung but I have "advanced stage" with lymph node involvement in my right lung. I even felt sorry for my doctor today when he was giving me all the bad news, he sounded…

Oral Cancer-Confused Need Advice
Hi Everyone! I am on here to find answers about my Dad's cancer he has been fighting for seven years. My Dad is 55 years old, a marathon runner, a successful business man and an all around down…

Specific question re: mouth sores
My wife is 6 mos. out from rad/chemo for squamous cell lodged in her tonsils which resulted in a tonsillectomy & lymphectomy neck dissection as well. She is doing OK ~ actually really well compared to my own experience ~ and just got a clear PET scan. One residual problem she has, however, is an ulceration on the right…

What happens when the post treatment PET is not clean
Buzz will be having an MRI on Tuesday to get a better picture of the metabolically active areas on his tongue and right neck. The right neck area was negative before treatment so this is a new development which has grown in size and brightness between scans. A new spot has appeared on his tongue since the last scan. What…

Long Weekend - Husband is now on IV fluids at home
Friday's appointment didn't go so well. He has lost 10 lbs and he was dehydrated. They gave him fluids and he's getting a bag a day at home for six days. My first experience learning how to hook up an IV bag to his picc line. We didn't have an IV pole so we used a floor lamp...it works but it looks so redneck. They are…

Phlegm/Stomach
Oh how I'd love to return the day when Phlegm made me recall the Monty Python routine in which there was a contest to come up with an insensitive name for the Belgians--the Phlegms (probably more properly the Flems) and the Sprouts took second and third place. Hell, where is that Way Back machine when you need it? So…

This is the first time I've written on the board. I have cancer of the larynx and finished radiation and chemo about a month ago. I still have my peg tube as I haven't really been able to eat anything but yogurt, ice cream and sorbet. My throat is still really sore and I feel like something is in the back of my throat.…

PET scan results
Hello Everyone, I just wanted to say "Hello" and share the good news that Connie's PET scan was all clear. She is still on the peg tube and starting to eat some foods so getting her off the peg is our next challenge. It has been one hell of a roller coaster ride but we just held on and it's slowing down to let us off…

Waiting
Hi, I've been lurking here reading discussions as I wait to find out whether or not I'm gonna have to have radiation. Boy does waiting suck. I had a parotid mass removed that was graded as intermediate grade mucoepidermoid carcinoma. The slides have been sent to MD Anderson for further analysis before my rad onc doctor…

does anyone have the same form of cancer?
I have been dx'ed with metastatic Melanoma with no known primary. While I have gotten excellent info from some very caring and knowledgeable people here, I am wondering if there is anyone with the same type of cancer I have. I guess while not unheard of it is not very common. I would love to hear from someone in the same…

Made it through my first week of treatment
Hello all, I made it through my first week of treatment. Monday was chemo: cisplatin and taxol. Tuesday - Friday rads. The mask didn't phase me. I just laid there and let the machine do it's thing. Chemo: Different report than rads. I have been very nauseous all week. Zofran didn't seem to help so I am switching to…

"Even if we're just dancing in the dark"
(Bruce Springsteen reference) I promised myself that I would not jump back into the 'natural' thing, but a couple of posts, one in particular, where a great number of tentative sites (at best) are cited as if they are legitimate information resources, lead me to come back one more time. I apologize in advance to all of you…
