Husband lost it for the first time...wife with cancer
I was just diagnosed with T2N1M0 colorectal cancer. I turned 40 a month ago, and have two young children and a few older step children. This topic isn't focused on me - I think I'm an emotional step or two past my husband. He lost it for the first time the other day, and I don't know how to deal with that. We are each…

Wife is stage 4 colon with Mets to liver, she just started her 4th chemo and last week or so she is slowly losing her appetite and sleeping a lot then before. Today she barely ate today, seems like her appetite is non existent and she wants to stay awake but can’t. I’m worried about her, is this normal to have a slip…

Second Opinion Confirms Things - It Is Back & Inoperable - Not Happy :(
Got a second opinion and it confirms what I was told. Inoperable and it is just a question of when I go back on chemo and see how long it lasts. The second opinon actually said start chemo now, though waiting to see when it spreads or I become symptomatic is also an approach to follow. I think I am going to stick with that…

My oncologist jump started my morning
I didn't sleep well so I was still snoozing when he called promptly at 8am. He never calls in the morning, let alone first thing. I've been seeing him for almost nine years and he still doesn't know my voice, so he asks "is David there, I need to discuss his test results with him?" This is my first CT scan at a one year…

Eyelids Twitching
After receiving my 5th IV drip treatment (Oxaliplatin) the day after Thanksgiving, I noticed neuropathy got to my eye lids. When I left the clinic and as soon as exposed to the cold air, my eyelids twitched and fluttered. My eyes started to close and I couldn't see. It lasted about few seconds then went away. It went on…

I'm good for another three months - EDIT
Went to the big city to see my Oncologist yesterday. CEA 0.5 and all other bloods looking normal. I was really tempted to just call him and skip the office visit. (NOT 600 miles) 330 miles (nit!) is a long way to go for a five minute visit; but I do like to see him and hear it from 'the horses mouth'. So, happy holidays…

Port Removal
Had port removed finally this Wednesday Nov. 22/17 @ 3:30pm. Thank God it's over for now. Well, it should only takes 20-30 minutes for removal but it took him (surgeon) almost 45minutes, and gave me more injection for numbness because I could still feel the pain while he was working on it. Now I am sore. My chest, right…

The next day (Thanksgiving) was the worst day of my life. We had all 8 kids and all our grandchildren over for dinner and no one knew of my…

Why do you change Ileostomy bags when you do?
There was a discussion on another board about when people change their bags and I was a bit surprised as a few people mentioned that they change them daily or every other day. Some here mentioned three days and I have been going with five days. The reason I change it at five days is that the bag loses its shape and becomes…

Another good report
Did a colonoscopy yesterday. First one where they used a drug where I remained awake. I was awear of what was being done but simply didn’t care. The sedation was interesting to note, but especially noteworthy is that the colonoscopy was all clear. And the surgeon said my next colonoscopy can be in five years. That would be…

Observation
I have been on this forum for a short time (6 months), but I have been on another, similar forum (chronic, spinal pain) for several years. My time on such forums has been absolutely beneficial and I thank those who make this possible. But what I really want to do is share an observation I have experienced on this forum.…

Adjuvant Chemo Therapy
Everyone: I decided to extract this topic from another large thread (118+ comments) to make it easier to access. There is nothing special about my adjuvant chemo therapy. The main reason I am semi documenting it is because there are a few others on the list who will begin theirs in the near future and my comments may help…

Restaged to stage 4
I posted several days ago asking about when a PET scan could be wrong. I guess I was hoping that it was and wasn't too excited about my husband having a liver biopsy. Well, we did do the biopsy and it was cancer. So the doctor restaged him to stage 4. He had CT scan and MRI at the end of Septmember before his colon…

My husband finished his last oxaliplatin treatment in September. During treatment his neuropathy would almost be gone by the next treatment but now he feels his neuropathy is worse than even during treatment. Just found out I have cancer
40 y/o male. Had a colonoscopy yesterday (Friday) following abdominal pain and blood in stool. I pushed for the scope, Dr thought just IBS. Lo and behold, a large mass in the descending colon (about halfway up), so large it almost blocked it. I await the official word that it is cancer based on biopsy, but doc said it…

And it's back...
New, related tumor. Found in my scans this week. No treatment at this time - watch and wait, hopefully for a very long time. We now assume lots of new tumors will be sprouting from the way my cancer seeded in my abdomen. *Profanities*

My high CEA journey.
Here's a post I made earlier in the year summarizing events I've gone through up till that point: CEA has been a constant bane to me since my initial diagnosis in 2012. Preoperative CEA was 13.9. The lowest it dropped to was 3.11 when the clinic I went to used a lab that did the Siemans/Bayer assay test that had 0-3 as…

they only take it monthly for him now, it never gets high but is a good indicator for him. So it went from 14.2 to 8.2 after only two chemo treatments, I think this is good news right?

Five years today - 'You have Cancer'
Five years ago today, I heard those fateful words 'You have Cancer'. Five years ago today, my life changed for the better and for the worst. My trip started in the ER, with a jerk of a Doctor. It was my GP/PCP who started the ball rolling, and I ended up with a GI who did my very first colonoscopy, discovering the Cancer.…
