Vectibix (panitumumab) experiences - advice please
Hi all, my husband's oncologist yesterday suggested adding Vectibix to his Folfiri chemo in 2 weeks. His tumors previously removed have been tested for the KRAS mutation and he would likely benefit from this new drug. He is quite upset about the side effects of an acne-type rash. Oncologist had talked about adding Avastin…

My visit with Dr. Edward Lin in Seattle
I saw Dr Lin yesterday. He is as kind and passionate about treating colon cancer and the patients themselves as I have read about him. First I would like to say that the Seattle Cancer Center was by far the nicest hospital I have ever been in. When I called to set up the appointment a couple months ago they told me they…

So sorry!
I couldn't help but notice that no one responded to one of my posts and I'm worried that I offended you. I would never do that in a million years because everyone helped me so much when we were told 2 months ago that my husband had colon cancer. I was devestated because he has a host of medical issues, mostly related to…

On my way to urgi center
Apparently the back pain manifested in shingles yesterday. I've seen two doctors already My oncologist wants to meet me tonight to decide for himself. There should be a law that is strictly enforced. No one with cancer should have ANYTHING else wrong with them! Picture me frustrated.

Update on my mom!
She got her test results and she is still cancer free. I pray for everyone fighting this disease and thank you for your support. We didn't reach for the creamy crack (stress eating binged with ice cream). I don't know how we would be able to walk this journey without our cyber family. love ktz

in the hospital again
My husband has been admitted to the hospital again this time for c-diff and dehydration. Hospice will be coming to my house on Friday. They tell me he will just slip away in his sleep. He has a fentanyl patch on for pain and is getting morphine for pain all of which isn't working. Very sad here Sandi

Learned an important lesson
Hi there, Two months ago, we were told my husband had colon cancer and the large 'mass' would have to be removed by surgery and chemo/radiation would be initiated if the tests showed that it had spread. Flash forward 2 months later, and it turns out he does NOT have colon cancer but had a large flat polyp that was removed…

One year out from treatment - Woo Hoo!
I'm so excited. I fell the need to celebrate. Hubby and I will go out for Frozen Yogurt later today. One year ago today, I had my last Radiation treatment (and 5FU contunous hook-up the week before). It seems I just dodged the bullet with more treatment after my Liver Ablation, so I think a celebration is called fore.…

Am I a cancer survivor?
Hello, I'm new here. I had a colonoscopy that revealed a stage 1 growth. I was terrified. 2 weeks later I went under the knife and had a 4 inch section of colon removed via a gnarly 10 inch vertical incision on my stomach. Surgeon says they got it all, no need for chemo or radiation therapy. Said he want's to "follow" me…

Folfiri + avastin didnt work
We started second line chemo - Folfiri + avastin for my mom's recurrence of nodes in pelvis, in March. We took 6 cycles (each cycle at every 3 weeks interval because of her counts) and we were monitoring CEA throughout. From 52 it came down to 6 but after 6th cycle it went to 15 and we went for a pet scan. The scan showed…

Nausea and Flu Like Symptoms Post Surgery?
I had CRC surgery (and hernia surgery) last year and don't remember experiencing the following issues after those surgeries. I just completed my scheduled kidney surgery on Tuesday, 7/8: DaVinci Robotic Assisted Partial Left Nephrectomy for RCC. Surgery took 3 1/2 hours - as they had a hard time "turning the kidney" so…

Cancer Survivor Dad Won't Discuss Cancer
I don't know what to do or say right now. I am so scared and my dad won't tell me anything. I'm 24, he's 58. To my knowledge, he has been cancer free for 7 years, but I honestly don't know if I saw a healthy man tonight. He now has cataracts and, before he eats, takes pills for his stomach. After eating, he was in the…

No more chemo to be had for mom
Today the oncologist came to the hospital to see my mother and told my father and myself that her body can no longer handle the chemo/radiation. She is in the last stages (no time frame as of yet) of advanced colorectal cancer. She has fought hard the past three years, but over the last month she has become so frail and…

How important is diet, really?
I've read a lot of conflicting information regarding diet on other sites and on discussions here. The main one has been the advice to avoid white sugar and flour at any cost, because cancer cells particularly thrive on these items. Medical sources I've read dispute that contention on the argument that all cells depend on…

It Breaks my Heart
It breaks my heart at the amount of people succumbing to this horrible disease. I just wanted to take a moment and let everyone know who is suffering from this atrocious disease that you are all being prayed for and thought of daily along with my own prayers for my own husband. I hope you can all either find a way to fight…

Hello everyone. I'm fairly new here. I read everyday though. I was in the hospital over the weekend. A month ago my Dr put me on an antibiotic for an infection in my port. The infection healed but right after round 3 got very sick with severe pain, diarreha and vomiting. I finally went to er and was dehydrated. They ran…

Can We Talk About Poop, Please?
For the past couple years, I've noticed a change in my stool. It started out with a noticeable groove (not the musical kind) in the stool and have been getting flatter and flatter. I had a colonscopy in 2012 which noted a hemorrhoid and some minor divertculosis and more fiber was suggested. No polyps were found, and the…

Post liver surgery CEA results July 8th - 3.5
This is my third set of results since my Liver Ablation in April, and I am happy to report that my CEA continues to drop, going down this time to 3.5. My Oncologist is still wary, wanting it to drop below 3, but he did give me the all clear to GO TO ENGLAND. WOOOO HOOOO! I will have my second follow-up CT scan next month,…
