Navajo honors and blesses cancer survivors and Veterans
My wife and I are involved in a movement called Adopt A Native Elder. It raises funds and provides for food drives several times a year to the Navajo Reservation in Arizona. It is a marvelous group. Check it out www.anelder.org. They hold a big weaving sale in Deer Valley Resort outside of Salt Lake City each year at…

How safe are CT Scans -- I have had six this year alone.
In the past year I have had six CT scans with contrast and I'm having another one tomorrow. I feel like I'm going to start glowing in the dark. My doctor says the radiation from one CT scan is equal to one day at the beach, but I have to wonder if this is true and how much radiation I'm getting from all these scans. Does…

Feeling so frustrated
Hi everyone, I am feeling very frustrated because I can't seem to talk my sister into getting a colonoscopy. Both my mom and her mom died from colon cancer, I was diagnosed last December shortly after turning 40, so there is a strong family history. She will be 45 in December, so really she should have gone 5 years ago. I…

Good Scan results
I just received my offical MRI scan results. The liver was clear! No indications whatsoever. I had originally had 2-3 suspect spots and 2 of them were biopsied and were indeed cancerous. These have now disappeared after chemo. My oncologist has now recommended 2 months more of chemo. (5FU Avastin, Lucevorin) I do not want…

Well, she should be a couple more hours before her new life begins. Hopefully it will be laproscopic which will make it easier on her recoup time. Looking forward to hearing about her feelings when she wakes up with one. She was real worried the first time about possibly having to have an ostomy now to wake up and realize…

I have posted before about pain in my back and liver. Has anyone experienced liver pain,it even hurts to laugh. I was told that my tumors are shrinking so why do I still have pain? I also had this deep burning itchy feeling in my upper right shoulder before I went to the ER with the liver pain, I can't help but think it is…

Need a favor
Hi everyone, Tomorrow is chemo #8, AND we get the results of my husband's scan. Lots of "scanxiety" tonight, in addition to the usual "night before chemo blues" (just when he starts to feel better, it's time to do it again). He's tough, and has been a trouper, but it's starting to get to him. Please say a prayer, send good…

Neupogen shots
For those of you that have had Neupogen, how long did it take before you felt more energy? I had a shot yesterday and one today, and I am already feeling stronger tonight. Is that just coincidence, or does it work that fast? Also, as far as the bone pain, when was it the worst? I have no pain in my lower body, but I feel…

I know this is a yuckie subject but it happened and I don't know what to do. It may be nothing. I had not had a bowel movement in 2 days.... probably because I had not ate in 2 days... but I did finally eat today and had a huge BM. Then I felt like I had to go again and strained a few times but nothing.... however, when I…

Almost 1 year to date- more good news for Mom!!!
Well- follow up CT today showed NOTHING!!! The colonoscopy last week was ok as well. Now we just wait on the CEA- but they are optimistic. Last check it was .06 or something very low. It is hard to believe that almost 1 year ago this was all starting. What a relief for Mom to get such good results- and how appropriate…

Which hospital for second opinion
My father was DX Dec o7 with stage IV colon cancer with two small liver mets. He had surgery to remove part of the colon in 2007 and is now dealing with the liver mets which seem to come and go over a one and half year period of being on chemo. The two liver mets are back but very small. In fact, one does not show up on…

The liver mets shrunk to about 1/2 there size in the summer,- not much shrinkage after that, but NO growth. My WB Cells have been low the past 2-3 weeks so I have…

I have been taking Ambien, which helps a lot. They also gave me Lorazepam for my anxiety,…

Stuck in New York and not doing well
Well, we are in New York (going on 2 1/2 weeks now). I don't post often, so in case you missed my last post....we are here so that my husband can have a hepatic pump installed. Or so we thought. After numerous pre-surgical scans, they found something in or near the pancreas and did not want to go through with surgery until…
