He will reduce my Oxy 13% because I've had a lot…

Gotta Brag
While I know so many are currently struggling finding a good oncology team and second opinions, some of us have already fought that gauntlet and reached nirvana. I'm one of the lucky ones with superb care. While I was as the Liver Symposium in Chicago in May, one of the speakers called my Radiation Oncologist the 'guru'…

Does anyone know of good cancer treatment centers in China?
Does anyone know of good cancer treatment centers in China? My Dad was diagnosed with rectal cancer in June, had surgery, and just finished first round of chemo in China. I wonder if anyone on this board is aware of any good cancer treatment centers in China (including Hong Kong and Macao). He is Stage IIIC with 4 out of 5…

Dad's Rectal Cancer Treated Overseas
My Dad was diagnosed with rectal cancer on June 12, 2009 overseas. He had a surgery on June 16. The surgeons told us the surgery was successful. The biopsy came out a week later to show that 4 out 5 lymph nodes were positive, the ends of the resection area were negative, and the cancer cells were moderately differentiated.…

Simply Me- How is your husband?
Hi Rose, Although I didn't reply to your post in early May about your husband (I guess I must have missed it), I just read it recently and I'm wondering how your husband is doing. You mentioned that you both decided on going to Memorial Sloan Kettering for a few weeks in June. How did things go and what is the latest on…

Reassurance
A couple of people have posted pleas for reassurance in the last few days. I've been there. I understand. I will be forever grateful to people on this site who answered my questions, calmed my fears about my husband's illness, and welcomed me as a "member of the family" although I'm only the caregiver. For those who need…

Surgery NEVER possible
Hey Everybody, I just returned from M.D.Anderson today after going thru port placement and 2 chemo treatments. I guess the most important issue there was a second opinion. They agreed with Onc here.... My liver and lung mets are not now... nor will they ever be operable. I cannot have a surgery that requires me to be…

Interesting New York Times Article about Recovery and Psychology
Here is an interesting article about one person's experience after cancer treatment. NYTimes Although I am only the caregiver, my experience with my husband's illness has been that dealing with post-treatment recovery (even after the wonderful diagnosis of NED) is fraught with emotional traps. Thank you for your prayers. My sister in law is now out of pain
A little over a week ago, I shared that my sister-in-law, Linda Penny, had been diagnosed with a glioblastoma, a brain tumor. Your prayers were welcome and the family appreciates your concern. Linda died this morning at her home in Lawrence, Kansas. Despite surgery, the tumor was too involved and it took her quickly. The…

How do you tell your family/friends?
Ny husband really wants to play this low key until we know more - after surgery - I highly doubt that is going to be possible as we have good friends and family that deserve to know what is going on....how should we tell and how should we respond? Any advice or personal stories would be appreciated!

Question about CEA?
This may be a silly question...when I saw my ONC this week he said my CEA level was .8 and preop it was 4.9. He said that was good, but sometimes he talks really fast and moves on to the next subject I loose track of what he said. Is .8 good? I think it is, just wanted some confirmation.

Jackson Memorial Tickets Available Through LOTTERY
I just read an unnerving article on CNN.com about Jackson. Apparently, you can go on-line and register for one of 17,500 tickets available for the Jackson Memorial at the Staples Center next Tuesday. How weird is that? What is this world coming to? 9 days of this stuff and there is still no plans for a burial - it's just…

Talked to my doctor
Just realized I never posted the rest of the story. I saw my doctor on Wednesday, and he surprised me with one piece of news. Apparently the ER doc misspoke. When he came in and asked me if I'd ever had a lung nodule, he must have been thinking ahead and wondering about that. Because what the CT scan showed was a possible…
