A simple promising strategy to lower chance of recurrence
Appears to be of benefit to have a longer overnight fast and avoid late evening eating. Longer overnight fasting correlates with lower HbA1c (blood glucose marker). High HbA1c is a marker for diabetes or metabolic syndrome which in turn is correlated to higher cancer incidence. Short talk by Dr. Catherine Marinac…

Geez oh Pete!
Last Saturday I missed a step and down the stairs I went. I stuck the landing like a ballerina hippo. Twist to the ankle and break to the fibula. The ambulance arrives, they could not get my big butt up off the floor that easily. OH MY GOD I did not know I even knew that many bad words! Lots of tissue damage, ice it, wear…

B/C & the Immune system
I had a Mastectomy in September 2017. No chemo or radiation, I only take anastrozole. I know chemotherapy weakens ones immune system but what about having breast cancer in general? I was put on 2 antibiotics for a tooth abcess and about a week later I got sick with what is apparently a virus, which I've been having for 5…

Reconstruction - How do I know what size to go?!?
This is my first question here and I'm afraid people might think I'm crazy, but here goes anyway. I had a double mastectomy on January 24, 2018. Expanders were put in at the time of surgery and have been filled a few times. Before surgery I was barely an A. I already look bigger than I was before all of this, and it's a…

Help ... I’m freaking out re LDH LEVEL
5 year survivor ... highly elevated LDH I’m a nervous wreck. I successfully conquered triple negative breast cancer in 2012. Diet's impact on cancer therapy - Dr. Lemanne
Here's a talk by oncologist Dr. Dawn Lemanne. She incorporates dietary measures to enhance chemo and radiation treatments. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_diITmOeCM&t=11s This is consistent with research done by Dr. Seyfried and Dr. Longo who have shown how controlling the amounts and proportions of macronutrients can…

Has anyone else been through surgical menopause?
Some of you know that I completed active treatment for breast cancer in 2009, and am 8 ½ years into my 10 years on Tamoxifen. In 2013, I found out that I’m positive for the PALB2 genetic mutation. Because of that result, I had a preventive bilateral mastectomy in 2015, and have now just had a preventive bilateral…

TNBC past 2
Hi. I've been in remission for 4 years and have felt wonderfully. 2 weeks ago I noticed a lump on the mastectomy site (closer to my underarm). Ultrasound done and it states "an abnormal mass further testing is necessary" on the area. My world came crashing down and slight depression setting in. I am scheduled to have the…

Anastrozole, no side effects?
Hi everyone. I had a mastectomy this past September, 2017. I'm in my 4th month of taking Anastrozole and have no side effects. (yet) I've read the messages of many of you who've had very serious side effects from these types of medications. Did y'all have side effects right away or did the side effect start as it built up…

Intraoperative Radiation Therapy
Hello friends, My 77-year-old mom was just diagnosed with Stage 1 IDC, grade 3, breast cancer, HER2+. She goes in for lumpectomy on Friday. and the hair struggle continues....
Trying to cling to what you had and accepting the reality of what you are now can just bite. 7 months out of treatment, my hair still sucks big time. I thought, ok I will get it colored and a new cut. That went to the curb really fast. The color did not grab in all places and the cut did not lay right. At least I did not…
