???? about my expanders
Ok so I just had my first expander fill today...not too much discomfort at all. However I do have a question that I should have asked my surgeon...Are my boobs suppose to be under my chin? They are up soooo high! I am just wondering if after it is all said and done and I have them swapped for silicon...will they still be…

Need input, arm alittle swollen
So, I had my 5th rads today and told the techs that my hand was a little 'puffy', my arm, too, but really only slightly. No one available to help me until tomorrow. So, of course, I turn to you. My surgery, lumpectomy & 2 nodes (only 1 pos), was 12/7. Had a very tight tendon - like a cord - underarm, which is better now.…

Just wanted to say hello to everyone. Tomorrow I go for Chemo treatment # 2. I hope it goes as well as the first one did. They said my periods would stop. I started right on time Saturday. They said my hair would come out, so far it's grown. I guess it's just a matter of time. I have been doing really well so far. I hate…

Just got the phone call from my oncologist office. The results from my PET SCAN... woo hoo no evidence of disease. What a great feeling! Think I'll enjoy this dance. It's weird I can remember joining this board all those months ago and reading about other woman's dance and seemed like this day was so far away for me, but…

I had a double Mastectomy 11/14/08 and finished all treatment. I've have decided to start my reconstruction. I'm a good candidate for the DIEP flap but due to cost and travel I'm unable to have this operation. My question is, has anyone had just the Trans Flap for a double reconstruction? I'm really concerned because of…

Hello everyone, I had my first chemo on friday and would you believe it, my doctor didn't tell me anything. It worries me that he didn't think it was necessary. I see life differently but really don't know how to go on this new path post chemo, post cancer, in remission mode. I mean how can I make what happened to me…

joint and muscle problems from 3 years of femara
I took femara for 3 years after 5 years of convention treatment with tamaxofin. I had early stage breast cancer with a lumpectomy and radiation in Dec. of 1991. From the time I started femara I had problems but didn't relate it to the drug. Now, five years later I am almost crippled and don't know if it was from femara. I…

Seafood Chowder is on
Seafood chowder or in Maine they say chowda. Made with potatoes, onions, haddock(1 pound), lobster(2 at 1 1/4 pounds), baby clams--no necks, jumbo shrimp(about 25 cut in half). Who's coming up to the chilly state of Maine. Be careful though-we are going to get an ice storm tonight with winds up to 60 mph. Love to have all…

which tumor markers to ask for?
Right now all anyone is doing, tumor marker wise is ER, PR, Her2.neu. I have found out about Oncotype DX and plan to ask for that since I am Er positive and so far as I know stage 1 based on size (don't know node status yet as surgery is Friday) On this board I have also notice people posting p53 and K167 status. So what…

post latissimus dorsi flap arm/shoulder/back problems?
In 2003 had a left mastectomy with free tram flap (was stupid not to have bilateral in retrospect). Now I have a new cancer (IDC) in my right breast which was, fortunately caught early (showed up on breast MRI but NOT the mammogram, and on the ultra sound once they knew where to look). So I am thinking about the latissimus…

Done with RADS
I have officially finished my 33 radiation treatments. I am so very happy. Between working, traveling every day to the treatments, and dealing with the radiation effects (fatigue, pain), there were times when I didn't want to finish. I was tired. RADS are easier than chemo to do by far but my chi-chi is charcoal broiled…

Last night my husband (who lost his job a week before my mastectomy and his mother 3 weeks before my cancer diagnosis) asked me when I'm going to be healed. I had my mast. & tram flap on 12/11, still not back at work. He is very depressed and told me that he needs me to start taking care of him - huh? He has not done a…
