follow-up with plastic surgeon and surgeon yesterday
I had my follow-up yesterday and both the plastic surgeon and surgeon said that my healing process looks like I am 6 months post-op and not just 2 months. I was happy about that. I got the go ahead to do everything I did before surgery--hopefully it will warm up here so I can get out to the golf course and see if the swing…

Has anyone tanned after radiation treatments were over?
I was just wondering if anyone either tanned outside or in a tanning booth AFTER they were done with radiation treatments. I know I can't now, but, I thought after I am done..I can. I might want to protect that area where I got "hit" with a towel or something for awhile. And, did anyone tan on Tamoxifen? It seems I read…

I need sleep
Anyone have any tricks up their sleeve for getting some solid zzzzzzzzzzz's? I've been taking Femara for 3 months now and it just seems to be getting harder to sleep. I am scheduled for my reconstruction on Monday and am hoping to get at least a small portion of my life back. I don't like taking Ambien too much, I've tried…

Can't sleep...
Hi everyone. Just feeling too awake this night before my first appointment with the BC surgeon. I got my MRI results from the radiologist yesterday, which showed much more of an area affected (up to 5 cm, most of one quadrant of the L breast), and some questionable stuff on the R side that, and I quote "...if you want to…

What are some side effects of tamoxifen?
My oncologist hasn't told me too much about tamoxifen, just that I will be on it for 5 years after I finish my radiation treatments. I have met a couple of women that said they took it and had no side effects at all. I hope that will be true for me. And, if you start it, I guess you can stop it if you don't like the side…

Treatment #2 tomorrow...
Ok...my next treatment is tomorrow and I'm not looking forward to it but I'm not dreading it either. I'm kindda on the fence on how I feel about this one. I know I need to talk to my oncologist about changing the anti-nausea meds and the dark spots in my face. I tried the Emla cream during my first treatment and I still…

I'll try again/side effects of AIs
No one responded to my post about the side effects of AIs, so I'll try again: I wonder if other people are concerned about the fact that these drugs (Arimidex, Femara, and Aromasin) are so new that no one seems to know what the long term side effects are. For me, it's hair thinning and severe insomnia, but there could be…

Life after oral chemo
I've been on oral chemo for 5 years, having post immune problems, like thrush, sore muscles. I took aromasin, arimidex, and tamoxifen. I've been off three months, does that stuff ever leave you the way you were before chemo?

Hemp Hearts for Energy
I have been visiting with nutritionalist at the health food store, and she has suggested I try hemp hearts to produce energy. She says that physical weakness is a demand for fuel. The hemp hearts are primarily unprocessed protein, and are the most concentrated source of essential nutrients known. My question, is there any…

Hi Ladies...I have great news...had my mammo and all is well, nothing has changed, and there is no evidence of disease! I feel very, very blessed. And now for a question. Mind you, I am not complaining at all about this. But I am wondering, how long were things sore or tender for you. I had ductal and lobular, the…

If not cancer free,am I in remission?
I have a question. Not like I think about it 24/7 cause I really don't,but my chemo nurse told me that I could never call myself cancer free when I asked her about it. I understand that, there are no guarantees and there's always a chance of reccurance. When people ask me how I'm doing and what my prognosis is,is it safe to…

In my quest to find out what was wrong with my hair, I have come across some scary information about aromatase inhibitors - if you are interested, try googling "Side Effects Revisited: Women's Experiences with Aromatase Inhibitors Breast Cancer Action" and a report will come up.
