Marty's neverending surprises...
Mhmmm... so, as I was saying on the previous thread re: Zoladex... it's been 2wks since I had the 3 little pellets implanted into my bum tissue to suspend my ovaries in hopes of averting premature menopause due to chemo. (I am 37) Then we had the perpetually pus-y weekend during which something "blew" under my abdominal…

impending full node dissection
I have 6 more weeks of Adriamyacin to go before a bilateral mastectomy. Most of the docs on the team at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance think a full node dissection is in order on the left. One of them thinks I could get away with not. I had 8 clear nodes removed on the left before, 2 on the right. The people on the…

Kansas City walk for the cure
Hi Everyone, just a note to tell you that Kansas City Missouri had our Walk for the Cure yesterday, with 20,000 showing up. My children and their families were there and told me that it was awesome. I hope to go next year and do my part. They raised 1/2 million dollars, yesterday.

Back Home?
Hi girls I'm back in N.C. Everything went well in Scotland and we got our home cleared without too many tears but with lots of memories,17 years worth. I found the whole thing very draining and have come back with a stiff right arm, tender abdomen and a stinking cold, lots of rest for the next few days I think! It's great…

estring
Does anyone have any information on "Estring". My oncologist prescribed it even though I had breast cancer. Estrogen is a very low dose in this ring that is inserted in vagina. It is supposed to help dryness and atrophy.( and improve sex life) I'm too young to give up on it. I tried Replens, but didn't have any success. I…

Discouraging News
Dear Frinds, I got the pathology report from the tumor that was taken out during my quadrantectomy yesterday. The news is discouraging, after being originally diagnosed with DCIS, the doctors have now realized that 5% of my lession consisted of invasive ductal carcinoma. I will have to have a lymph node biopsy on the 20th…

Capsular contraction...implant discomfort
I have a saline filled implant that is quite firm and uncomfortable. Just had the nipple put on two weeks ago and it seems to have made the implant even more sensitive and painful. Apparently I have capsular contraction around the implant and was wondering if anyone else has this and how they deal with it. I get the…

Test results
I took a bunch of test Tuesday. Pelvic, Transuterin, and breast sonograms. Chest x-ray and mammogram. On the mammogram they called me back in for a cone compression on a suspicious spot. I almost freaked out but I held it together until the nurse came in and told me the spot vanished with the new picture. I get all the…

Questions -2nd mastectomy, reconstruction & expanders
They are putting expanders under both muscles. The 2nd mastectomy will be done leaving my nipple and skin entact (scooping out). I was wondering how painful this is? I heard it's quite painful. After 3 weeks, every week I go in to have more saline injected into the expanders.

Anyone else that has gone through this, I'd love to hear from you. I had a 7cm tumor with 23 out of 23 nodes positive. Ct's and bone scan okay. God Bless all of you. Adele

Anyone done a glute flap?
Hi, I am meeting with the lovely plastic boys this week to see what options I have. Since I'm thin, I'm hearing the only flap I can do is the glute. What are the pros, cons? Anyone in LA willing to show me in person???My surgery will be by the end of the month I'm sure. Luv, C

The joys of CT's and Bone scans...
Good day all! Just had my first-ever CT's (abdominal & chest). It wasn't bad but I was totally overlooking the fact, after reading all the posts here that **I** would have to have these tests too!! *laughs* The bone scan is scheduled for tomorrow. Had to change "arenas" last minute as the local bone scan man doesn't take…
